    All i had to do in my 89 K1500 swap was unbolt the shock, compress it then tie it up and away from the cv joint hole. What was also helpful was not leaving the suspension on a jack, but leave it hanging by using a jack stand on the frame. The extra room created by doing that allowed me to put the new cv in with relative ease.

    It is humbling when things do not go smoothly. I just got a lower ball joint replaced. I am certain there was a better way than how I did it. I ended up drilling out the four rivets one size at a time starting at 1/8 up to a little under 1/2 inch.

    Great video, a little bit of struggling, but that just shows people what they might be expected to deal with. I understand why you couldn't do it, but it would have been interesting to see how easy it was to do if the sway bar end link was unbolted.

  • @MrCountryboy2100

    Could of maade that way easier if you take the sway bar loose. It allows the cv shaft to move forward and away from flange so you can pull it out. Just some extra help.

    That Jack is scaring me. I just did one last night. Didn’t need a jack. Didn’t need to take the tire off. Or shock. Unbolt from diff, remove axle hub nut, and let it fall out

    • @buickbeasty
      @buickbeasty  5 лет назад

      You must have had diffrrent wheels in order to get at the axle nut my wheel has to come off and u definitely didn't have a stock axle cause the circle ones dont fall out at all the cutout flange ones do come right out but u still usaully have to get the shock out of the way.

    I was wondering if it could be done this way without removing the steering knuckle form the ball joints and tie rod end.

      cv axle holds on to the wheel hub which helps hold everything together ,now the 2wd it works off a spindle that acts as a cv axle, wheel hub will then slide onto the spindle . google 2wd spindle and 4x4 spindles .big difference

    I just completed this job and looked to be pretty easy, took a look at the comments and did the whole "remove the sway bar link thing". TOTAL Pain in the @&&. The link itself didn't line up very well with the hole underneath and finally getting this all back together probably added 3 hours to do both sides. I much rather would've struggle for 10 minutes knocking the axle out of there. If your end link doesn't line up well with the hole below, I would skip it. Even getting the new links back in was horrible. Cya,

    • @the4thj
      @the4thj 8 лет назад

      +emers7mm You will be doing it again if you bought your CV's from an ordinary auto parts store. I did the same thing but the correct way is to remove the bearing or hub. I myself am going to be doing this and I am going to do it the bearing way, crows foot wrenches suck!
