I love how this update drops literally the day after I spent 5 hours dialing in IRs with my current gig presets. Oh well, time to do it all over again. Glad Line6 finally pushed their cab blocks to have the utility that has been more and more standard across the industry. The encoder knob change is the under appreciated hero of this update.

I've always hated the Line6 amps and cannot feel them like I do with the Kemper and Fractal. Always had to mess around with so many IRs and still wasn't happy. However......I've just done this update and it's now come to life! Fantastic update.
this was EXACTLY why I sent my Helix back. No matter what I did (even setting global EQs and low/high cuts), the amps never sounded good to me. The effects themselves sounded great though.

I'm thankful for the update, but I'm a little heartbroken there was no nobels odr-1. They just don't have any idea how bad I and many other people need it. There's no other pedal like it
Enjoying all the new Firmware Update 3.5 videos coming out today! Planning on updating later today. I think most of us have had our Line 6 Helix Modelers for some time, and have spent hours dialing in our favorite sounds. I don't know if we have multiple "Set Lists" easily available now for the HX Stomp. I'll be saving my old Presets, but will also be creating new ones with Firmware 3.5. Perhaps you can share your insights on how you plan to proceed with your own rig, and what you think is a good strategy to get the most out of old Presets, while making new ones. Thanks

Just keep using the old presets.
The cabs in those presets will be updated if you update your Helix anyways.

Thanks Rob! I did not notice a ton of decay difference when I explored it, but it was only a brief run through of it so I could be wrong
I updated mine yesterday and now I notice a gap between switching snapshots. Do you know what the cause is and how to fix it?
You being a big proponent of using L6’s stock cabs vs IR’s, this particular update must have you excited. The question is, will it reel you back in from the FM9’s gravitational pull?
I enjoy them both equally. Different applications and different uses. Its really hard to call one better than the other

Hey thanks for your work, I have a question. I want to build big bright/wide sound weather clean or driven, I struggle a bit with the stock cabs in that regard, if I use a IR it seems easier
It's worth learning to make the cabs work for you! Sure IRs are easier, but the cabs are more flexible once you know what you're doing
@Steve Sterlacci I worked on one yesterday it sounded ok. However the distorted amp sound like it was falling apart when play open chords in medium distortion
Also do you get digital clipping? Sometimes I get that too
@Viktor Tulbya you're probably sendind too much signal out of your unit. I have a video about "mistakes to avoid" that includes the proper gain staging going into other devices
Hi im pretty new to all this so i have a question... Does your sound come out of speakers or do u use headphones? Im confused because if u choose a cetain cab in your software doesnt the speaker or headphone change THAT specific sound to? So its kinda like a double output signal?
Hi! Welcome to the channel. Short answer is no. The speaker sims in the unit are of guitar cabinets. If you hear yourself through a studio monitor or headphones, those are considered "flat". Basically, they dont do anything to the sound. If you use a guitar speaker cabinet, then you disable the cabs in the unit

A helix LT with another row of footswitches added and a better UI like the QuadCotex will be awesome while the cortex owners continue their wait forever in getting features promised 2 years ago and still waiting for decent delays and reverbs and a desktop app. Meanwhile the Helix already kills the Quad cortex in those areas and quad cortex will probably take 5 more years to catch up considering how slow basic features have been rolling in .
If I was just confident I could get all the plugins built into the QC I'd have bought one the other day. Such a miss
They added some kind of new snapshot deal. Not sure what it is though

I appreciate this update just like everyone else, but gatta be real.
This mic placement isn't anything new and Helix is the last to get it out of all the highend modelers.
Really appreciate the update and love how they sound and the fact that they keep bringing updates like this for free. But the mic position at the very least could've come quicker
Either way, Helix was the best purchase decision I've ever made in my entire life.

I agree its a pretty standard thing. But they didn't just add the feature, they rebuilt the entire cab engine from the ground up. So I think a lot more went into it under the hood to really get it right

weird amp choices for the new models. would have much preferred a Morgan AC20 or Friedman Smallbox 50. I'm 54, been playing since '82 , and have NEVER come across a Sunn amp, and i've spent an embarrassing amount of time in many a music store. Thanks for the update L6, but next time give me something i know, please and thank you. To be fair, the Sunn model sounds good but i can't speak to its authenticity for the aforementioned reason.
I feel the same about the choices... but theres enough to keep busy. Worth trying and seeing if you like them
I actually really enjoy this update because it's a relatively unusual choice of amps. Modelers mostly cater to clean, blues or modern high gain sounds; meanwhile the Sunn Model T is particularily valued within the doom metal community, and modelers rarely cater to that type of sound. Adding things like the Vital Distortion, the Model T (alongside the two Oranges that are already there and the Line 6 Doom Mod) makes the Helix a much more enticing piece of gear to that particular subset of music.
Besides, the Model T is an exceedingly rare and sought after amp, to have that sound more accessible is a huge boon.

They have a lonnnnnggggg way to go to catch up with helix and line 6. They released it way to early, it needed more time and needs more updates. They should have included the neural ampsims straight out of the box.
I'm waiting to update until I hear from Jess. Jess is the current "Top of the food chain" & "Best there ever was; Best right now; and Best there ever will be" when it comes to country/rock vocalists/performers. Until Jess signs off on the new update.....I'm gonna wait.
