I have much admiration for Steve Moyes. I think it was around 1975 at the Escape Country World Championships that I witnessed him landing after flying all the way back from Saddleback Mountain. He was just lying prone on what appeared to be a swing seat with a foot stirrup. (Harnesses were just beginning to be used in those days). My friends and I were all duly impressed back then with his skill and, I might add, his humility. Congratulations Steve on your well earned success.
You might be interested to know that Bill Moyes was already legendary to those of us who were just beginning to fly in 1974. We were all sort of secondary pioneers in those days but he was already so influential to the sport by then that he must be considered as a true pioneer, without whose contributions, hanggliding would not be where it is today. Bill and Steve are both legendary to me.
I flew a XS in 94 in Telluride Colorado, Nice performing but had tip flutter when brand new at speed. I totaled it in a blown launch in Telluride, coulda been killed Pilot error
