Tip: Prior to installing paper gaskets coat them with Chapstick. This will prevent them from sticking.

My 1989 Chevrolet S10 Blazer 4.3 made it 249K miles before the TBI began totally failing. I was going to rebuild, but it was too far gone. You see, the fuel pressure regulator had totally been destroyed by the debris from the driver's side valve cover breather, which throws debris into the rear of TBI via a vent tube and air cleaner adapter. The fuel pressure regulator spring had totally corroded and broke and the fuel pressure regulator housing was totally corroded. I tried rebuilding but to no avail. Replaced the TBI with a re-man and all is well. However, I did block off the inlet to the air cleaner adapter ring and added a valve cover oil breather to filter out the bad stuff rather than dumping it into the TBI. I don't think that the 5.7 engines had this configuration or issue. Whatever engineer thought that this 4.3 setup was a good idea...
But I have to give credit to the TBI on this 4.3, because this old engine was still running great even with a faulty TBI. Both injectors on the faulty TBI were dripping and between that and the defective fuel pressure regulator dumping massive amounts of fuel into the engine, it was running very rich - but running.

Thanks for making such a detailed video. I bought a 1989 truck with the exact same throttle body and it's filthy. It's also been sitting for a while (8 years, maybe 10??). This will be one of my steps to revive it.

I would take a shop to the area before removing the throttle body. Vacuum as much as you can then cover the top and use compressed air. Shove a rag in the intake after removing the TB. Good video, very informative. Thumbs up!

Do you put the metal or rubber rings in first ? The ones for the injectors themselves...

I don't know if you have noticed, but you missed the small figure 8 gasket.

What brand are the injectors, and where did you buy them?

I believe they were "Standard Injection" and I just picked them up from my local O'Reilly parts store.
