    The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
    Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
    Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
    Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
    Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
    The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
    Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com

BEST COLIN MCRAE ONBOARD ACTION: 0:33 wipers on for a watersplash, 0:50 two bigger watersplashes, 1:45 end of stage 18 Chamico 24km long and start of stage 19 El Mirador - San Lorenzo 20km long, 2:38 start of a long flat out straight road with maximum attack, 4:25 very fast straight road again with tight corners at the end, 5:05 hits the edge of the road on the left side maybe, 5:32 awesome long fast corner with drift, 6:14 jump landing on two wheels, 6:40 very big watersplash and co-driver Nicky Grist turns a switch to protect the engine from water, 6:55 deep ruts in the road makes the car jump around, 7:12 can you spot the gaucho cowboys horse?, 7:21 another jump, 8:13 bump and fast watersplash, 8:24 very fast again into watersplash and onto two wheels, 8:47 flat out top speed to the end of the video.

    and if u watch closely most of the times hes in a turn he spends it turning the wheel in the opposite direction of the turn to counter the oversteer. Man rally is completely a diff beast!

      @@shogun_arasaka nope, he has his own opinion and he thinks McRae is the best from that generation. Look, i don't know much about rally as im much more interested in F1 and endurance racing, but what i know is that McRae was great and there are reasons to believe he was the best, even if he wasn't. Genuine question now tho, Tommi won 4 consecutive titles right ? Did he have the fastest car all these times or not ? Because if he did its a completely different story

    • @shogun_arasaka
      @shogun_arasaka Год назад

      @@sr.hughes8712 Hey mate, I was gonna take you for a wee ride here, but since you've been straight up I can only give you the courtesy of doing the same. Tommi and Colin were the two major rivals of that generation, fan banter comparing the two was just that, just like say, the Scuderia vs Merc or Red Bull, City vs Liverpool (I wouldn't consider United as rivals to City 😉😅). I was obviously a Tommi fan, hence my smart ass comment above. Truth is, both McRae and Makinen were astonishingly skilled drivers and both deserve a place in the WRC hall of fame, real fans respected them both as deserved. They both had equally balanced machinery, one of the great things about the WRC in those days was the mostly evenly balanced vehicles populating the top tier, any of the factory team cars could win on any given weekend. The season long battles between Colin and Tommi were epic and legendary, unfortunately for him, Colin just could never quite get that edge over Tommi and always ended up the bridesmaid. By the numbers, yep, Tommi takes top spot, but all things considered, their thrones both sit proudly beside each other on the highest of peaks (just below Loeb's pinnacle) in the world of rally.
      (I follow many different types/classes of motor racing, particularly fond of Endurance and GT racing, but like yourself, F1 rules the roost for me, have been an F1 enthusiast and a die hard tifosi since I was a little kid. 🙂 For the glory of the Scuderia! FORZA FERRARI 😁).
      Have a good one mate, happy new year and all that. Cheers.

    actually you can see that stick goes right to the column so he uses that instead of the paddle but it works the same, maybe he likes the feel of the lever but its the same. Some had a big ring around the back of the steering wheel to grab instead of paddles too

    The wipers while steering would be quite the challenge, not to mention everything else he was capable of doing.. that just sort of struck me as something that'd be an unnatural feeling...
