You did a nice job but I think that you may have gotten better results with thinner plywood. Empty weight of 5.2 kilos is heavy for that size box, unless you are using them for storage of very dense material where you need a lot of strength. Just my humble opinion.
Hello. Love your video. I need some advise. I built a box using ordinary plywood, about 1/3 inch thick. It was just a big box 3 ft X 3 ft X 3 ft. No shelves or anything inside. I used ordinary nails to hold them together. I used a hinge on one side to serve as the door. But over time, the sides began to warp, curve or bend. Is there a type of wood I could use that doesnt bend, warp or curve over time? Thanks.🙂
My OSB is 7/16 thick, but I'm not making boxes, I want to make a wide shelf. 60" wide, 30" high and 18" deep. Is 7/16 too thin for dowels, screws or even nails? I feel like if I attempt this and simply use glue and nails, the whole thing will sway side to side. I do plan to put a back panel to stabilize it (not sure if it should be on the inner insert space where the shelving is, or completely on the outter backing. or even both). What's the best fastener to use in this case (and yes sadly 7/16 is all that is available in my area). I am putting three 20" CRT TVs on top of it. So stability is a major concern. What else could I use to prevent it from trying to sway side to side. ____________ |__|__|__|__| |__|__|__|__| |__|__|__|__|
Hello, if you have to make a shelf that has to hold 3 CRT's you better make it sturdy. You'll have to put 2 or 3 vertical supports in order to prevent the top shelf from sagging under the tvs weight. As far as material is concerned, I would use a thicker material than 7/16, and maybe consider using plywood instead of OSB. If 7/16 OSB is all you have available, glue and nails are fine, but consider doubling the top shelf to give it more strength.
ciao, bell'idea pensavo di farmele anche io ma con un pannello da 10 mm ca x alleggerirne un po' il peso. ma i pannelli li prendi on line o brico/segheria?
Pilotting the nail holes, good method
