My 70 year old dad said that Lovebites' music is like a representation of 80s bands like Judas Priest, Helloween, Metalica, Iron Maiden etc. If you like 80s metal I highly recommend Lovebites over Band Maid and Babymetal. You need to listen at least 4 different song styles from Lovebites to understand what I mean, here are my recommendations: Holy War, Swan Song = power metal The Hammer Of Wrath, Break The Wall = Thrash metal Dancing With The Devil, Empty Daydream = hardrock (with metal elements) Ballad = Epilogue, Edge Of The World Great reaction man
Tiny Haruna. So small she once thought she'd got caught in a downpour only to find she'd walked under her faucet. But behind the drums she's a thunderstorm :)
They're not a cross between Band-Maid and Babymetal. The "all-female" thing in hard rock and heavy metal is nothing new in Japan, there have been countless all-female rock and metal bands in Japan in the last 40 years. It's not a novelty and hasn't been for a very long time. Lovebites are influenced primarily by 80s European power metal and 80s thrash, and they're awesome. Some of the point others have likely already addressed; The name comes from a Halestorm song, not from Def Leppard. The glamorous "non-metal" image is actually very "metal" in Japan, ever since visual-kei days and bands like X-Japan, who were all-male. There are bands who have a very sort of "gothic-lolita" look, Lovebites thing is elegant and all-white, partially to make them stand out because they're all very tiny women. Haruna (the drummer) is 30-ish and a veteran of the Japanese metal scene. She and Miho (bassist) were in legendary band Destrose together before forming Lovebites. They move around more depending on the technical requirements of the music. You might want to check out a later song from ithe set, in songs like Raise Some Hell for example. This was the first song of the show, and they were lined up military style like the Ramones used to do for effect. They're also wearing heels. Easy to jump around in 8-inch platforms without messing up a single one of your three chords if you're KISS, but not quite so simple of you're Lovebites.
I was just thinking of the Ramones in response to his comments as I saw them in concert once where the bass and guitar player jumped on the left and right speaker stack, Joey stood center stage at the mike face obscured by his hair and they stayed there the whole show and it was great. On the opposite end Kiss also came to mind as a band with a great concert due to production. They were not the greatest musicians, but they definitely gave you your money's worth. Peace.
Songs where they move: "We the United", "Raise Some Hell". They only wore the Sgt. Pepper jackets for the intro. After that song, they ditch them and look even more like prom queens. As you dive down the Lovebites rabbit hole, you'll discover they're actually very dynamic. Note the grand piano far house right. That's not just there for show!
Hey Richard, thanks for checking them out! The reason behind them dressing in white fancy dresses is partly because of their small size, it helps them stand out on stage, Haruna on the drums is only 4'9'' with the tallest being around 5'2'' if im not mistaken, they are small ladies! By the way the Sgt. Pepper jackets come off after this song, it's just for the first song. As a big fan of them i agree with you, i wish they were more active on stage although they do in some songs, but a couple of them are classically trained witch might explain the stoic attitude. To be fair for me its not a deal breaker, because the musicianship is so good. The name comes from Halestorm's song Love Bites (And So Do I), they are big fans of Lzzy and Halestorm. Their biggest influences are bands like Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween to name a few, they bring back that old school 80's metal feel but make it fresh. They are mainly known for their power metal but they also do thrash, heavy rock, some more progressive songs here and there and some really awesome ballads! They have been together for 4 years formed in 2016 and released 3 albums so far. Loudwire magazine released their Best Metal Songs of 2020 a couple weeks ago and these ladies made the list! Check out - Edge of the World, Holy War, Swan Song, Raise Some Hell, Empty Daydream, all Live from their DVD's Five of a Kind live at Zepp Divercity in Tokyo 2020 and Daughters of the Dawn 2019. Hope you enjoy them more with further listens, this really is one of the best metal bands out there today if you're into their style of music! Thanks for another great and fair reaction, stay safe.
Love that you're reacting to Lovebites. And I sort of understand your criticism. But here's the thing: Lovebites is a BEAST of a band. In only three years since they're started (I'll let others give you the background of where the musicians came from) they've released 3 full studio albums, two ep's and two live dvd's. They work hard. This song is the concert opener and they only wear the jackets on this song. It's probably stress or nerves/tension for the show (it's a big deal) that you mention the lack of movement'/stiffness in them ( I agree on that part). If you watch more from them live (try the next song up, Holy War), you'll see they are much more animated on stage, although Myako (guitarist stage right) is notorious for her lack of showing emotion on stage. I'm telling you,, you won't regret getting into them more and viewing more of their stuff. I recommend Holy War, Raise some hell, Break down the wall, for starters. Hope you go on enjoying their music. I enjoy your reactions a lot, greetings from the Netherlands.
Lovebites are really good. I have listened to them and many other bands and realized that Japanese rock/metal is underestimated. Good reaction! ❤🦊🤘 Stay safe and greetings from Sweden!
someone actually said don't do lovebites ? !! you will NOT be sorry. best thing i've seen and heard in years.they write all of their own music. mostly by miyako the right guitarist. 30 + songs on youtube so you have much to hear from the best band on earth
Miyako (on the right ) surprised me she seemed the least outgoing but when she got her solo..... she showed manipulation of the phrasing you only see in extremely confident players.... I LOVE HER!!!!!!!
@@OldSkuleNerd yeah she has more talent than is humanly possible - a trained concert pianist since the age of 3 and then decided to pick up the guitar at 18 ! she and the left guitarist - the awesome midori - are the best team of guitarists out there. miyako does some keyboards in some songs.i personally love her laid back demeanor . she's as hot as a pistol and cool as a cucumber.every player is a veteran of previous bands and is a supergroup imo

Tiny Haruna behind the drums is actually the oldest of them, and she is married! They are in their late 20ies.
Great honest reaction as always. I have to say this band has really grown on me. Sometimes, like you, I find a new band and go crazy with it, but sometimes it can take a while for it to sink in. In some ways Lovebites are quite understated for a metal band, but actually it is in fact all there, and essentially very pleasing. Keep going, they will win you over! And yeah! All power to the girls, they are really bringing so much talent to metal music. Long may it continue. Thanks for all your reactions. Always really entertaining, which is what it's all about, Dude!!!!!
Good Reaction this was the opening song to the DVD they play several subgenres of metal , they play Power metal, Heavy metal , Thrash metal, Power ballads and sometimes they can combine them into one song . They actually took the name from a Hailstorm song called Love bites and so do I which they did as a cover in an audition for the vocalist of the band and they thought the song suited so they decide to name the band after the song . Asami who is the vocalist when the band wasvplaying the same bill as Hailstorm , lizzy hail invited Asami onto stage to perform the s o ng lovebites and so do I withe lizzy's band. As with the white dresses they say because if they wore dark clothing they would be hard to see on stage so they where white . The tallest one is 5ft 2 " the drummer is 4 ft 8" . They also want to prove there is no reason why sophisticated women cannot enjoy and play metal . I good song if you want to see them having fun on stage is Raise some Hell from the same live show you just reacted to . There are many sides to their music, songs such as holy war , edge of the world , swan song all from the same show . Thanks again for you reaction , stay safe from a fan Downunder..
It's the opening number of the show, not that it matter much, they are more concentrating on the instruments as the songs get more monumental and complex as the concert goes on, but the songs with quieter parts it happens more, also, when the more core-groove songs comes they can play it standing on the hands then they start to move around and make dual-solos circling around, but they are not oozing happiness like Band-Maid.
great reaction, good point on the performance movement thingy. total they have 3 live concert dvd including this one that belong to five of a kind live. 1st and the 2nd live concert they are actually wild on stage. this particular one I think they have strict stage choreography for pro shot purposes, but as you go along, they will move.
Welp...I've been waiting for this. Now that you've done Lovebites...you really should check out Halestorm. Because Lovebites got their name from one of Halestorm's songs, "Love Bites(So Do I)", so there it is. The gauntlet has been thrown. Also, yes there is a live version of Halestorm doing their song with the lead singer from Lovebites...but that should be one for a later time. Check out the original first. The Rock Gods have spoken.
@@OldSkuleNerd A little Halestorm songlist for you then. My personal recomendations. -Love Bites (So Do I) -Black Vultures -Love/Hate Heartbreak -Here's To Us (Guest Version) ---Check out the list of collaborators on the guest version...it's kind of epic. -Killing Ourselves to Live -Familiar Taste of Poison Ok I'm done...for now.
I don't seem to remember all these rock and metal bands running around like crazy on the stage. I came to see the band play music, anything else to me is a bonus. Not every musician needs to jump around to make a concert special, actually a lot of times the elaborate production is covering average musicianship (not always, see BABYMETAL, Nightwish, etc.). I'm a product of 80's & 90's metal so this band is one of my favorites right now. Appreciate the honesty (even if I disagree at times) and looking forward to more LOVEBITES reactions. Peace.
I've heard the Japanese like to use symbols from lots of different cultures. An upright pentagram like they used in this video is a symbol of protection from evil. It's only a symbol of evil if it's pointing down.
I agree with you...the beginning is very "thrash". Most of their other pieces are excellent and well thought out. Not live, but try "Shadowmaker" for a comparison. Japanese culture appreciates a "gap". Meaning a seperation or dichotomy between appearance and sound... same as Band-Maid. It's all about the gap for them, they look one way and sound completely opposite.
About the white dress: It's a conscience thing. They where white on stage to stand out. They're Japanese women, small, frail and if they would dress up like any other Metal band (black leather etc.) they would be viewed as just one more Japanese metal band. They didn't want that. Hence the white.
Not exactly. They said they wear all white since they're small and often play in dark clubs, the white helps them stand out on stage and be easier to see.
Try the musicvideo When Destinies Align AND put on the subtitles! Great uplifting lyrics! This song was the opening for the concert, and they was a bit nervous. They took of their jackets after a couple songs. Miyako to the right is a Icequeen on the stage but so musically skilled and perfectionist . In the rest of the concert they moved around but the level of technicality of their song is hard to jump around to and play in this level live! Ohh there are so many awesome all female bands from Japan, such as Aldious, Marys Blood etc etc. And we have the grand old ladies from Show-Ya that celibrates 35 years as a band this year! The Japanese foxhole is sooo deep!
I like Lovebites because of their heavy talent, but there's some mainstream thing about it that shy's me away. Also one of the solo guitarists of it also plays piano, and she's a shredder and a pianoshredder :) whatever those get called in the pianized world.
Most of them are around 30 or close, and are veterans of the japanese metal scene (except singer Asami who's a former gospel/jazz/r'n b singer) - but yes, you'd never tell. It's the first song of a recorded concert, and a new one for them too, that's why they are so concentrated - and the stiff jackets used for that song only don't help! A fun song like Raise Some Hell or a very emotional one like Swan Song will show you two very different sides of their art. About the pentagram: please pay attention that it is NOT the reversed pentagram! That's the one you'll associated with devilish things. Here, it's only a luck talisman, with each tip representing each of the five musicians.
I'll give you like 👍 for you honest reaction. Thank you so much has been reaction to Lovebites. The most best one heavy metal band right now in the world for me. And yes, they are musician world class. Something unique about musician in Japan. They have "own costum style" Like band-maid, dress maid but playing hard rock? Baby metal, like cheerleader but singing with music metal? Now Lovebites, like beauty princess's but playing fantastic heavy metal? For me it's not problem. Cause they look creative and fun. That's why many people in the world watch musician in Japan right now. Unique. Talented. Entertain. Anyway hope you want check out Lovebites again. I thing I've been many requested Lovebites song on your Chanel. Try they song "Raise some hell" or "Edge of the world" And I'm sorry if my English language is bad. I'm still learning. I'm from Indonesia.
Great reaction!! Finally Lovebites ❤❤❤ hope too see more of them... huge fan!! And lucky for you there is more and more live from them to find and check..... allthough Shadowmaker and When destinies align are a great watch as a music video or maybe Burden of time studio live... if this is still to find on youtube
If u want to see japanese kids playing really goodmetal, u should check Asterism. They have video when they were 12 or 13yo and played soo good already

Yeah mate Lovebites are formed 2016 in Tokyo from ex Destrose band members Miho the bassist and composer ( she is the band leader) and Haruna the drummer ( at the moment she is the best female power metal drummer). The other members are Asami the vocalist and songwriter, Midori the lead guitarist and backing vocals with the blonde hair and Miyako the other lead guitarist, pianist and composer (she is the main composer of the band). Lovebites are the winners of 2018 in category for best new metal band. Their last album Electric pentagram is nominated for one of the best 20 metal albums for 2020 year . They are influenced by 80s metal, and they are the best all female power metal band in the world at the moment. Now you have to check the songs Rise some hell,Signs of deliverance and Holly war for now. By the way Miho the bassist mentioned once in interview- we are here to make something memorable. The band want to step closer to their inspiration bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Halloween, Metallica and Slayer. Enjoy it.
You gotta watch plethora of other MV's and live performances like Holy War, Rising, Shadow Maker, Empty Daydream, Swan Song, Hammer of Wrath, Scream for Me and etc... actually endless... You will know how amazingly talented and creative these ladies are. For your rant about not moving around and wearing non metal outfits, you will realize how they all make sense as you dig deeper into Lovebites (they are extremely active in other videos but I honestly don't understand why some of you equate moving around and smiling as sign of good performance). Anyhow, I applaud you for reacting to Lovebites. I bet you will be a wolfpack soon.
great reaction man, the more you listen to Lovebites songs, you'll realize they are like bringing back 80s metal songs For the next reaction I will recommended "Holy War" for power metal and The "Hammer Of Wrath or Break The Wall" for thrash metal FYI : - their album was mastered/mixed by the same people who worked on Nightwish and Stratovarius - they won the Metal Hammer 2018 in the Best New Band category - became the first (Japanese) female band to perform on Wacken, Bloodstock and Graspopmetal - they toured with Dragonforce last year in UK Thanks for the reaction video
It is nice to see new people listen to any non American/European band, but some over comment. Which is fine, good to see various opinions. They are definitely not a cross between anyone. Lovebites are the best band out there right now. You do not have to jump around like having bees in your pants or dress all black and all that :) I prefer this type. Thunder Vengeance is designed to pump up the audience with trash music and the pentagram is not the actual pentagram. People see 5 corners and think devil or whatnot. It points downward, theirs upward. Lovebites is taken from Halestorm song Love bites (So do I), not Def Leppard. They took 10-15 greatest metal and rock bands with 5-6 greatest guitarists, mixed it all, made it their own, added twists and the best transitions in any metal band and topped it up with instrument play that rivals or precedes 90% of bands if not 99%. Miyako is like Gary Moore, Midori is like Yngwie Malmsteen. They are all multi-instrumentalists 3-5 instruments if not more, they all compose (Miyako half of the songs), they all write lyrics (Asami, singer most of them), they all provide backing vocals. Japan has over three dozen of exceptional all female rock/hard rock/metal bands that are active right now, if not more. The concept of rock related bands in NA and Europe is these big, burly, bearded, screaming men that jump around the stage. Japan begs to differ. As someone stated, their all-female bands date to 80's when Show-Ya came out as the first popular rock/metal group, followed by Scandal as rock/pop rock since 2006 who helped J-Rock and all-female bands to pop-up all over the place. I am eager to see your reactions for future Lovebites and Japanese bands in general. PS. There is a saying: "No matter how good you are, how much you practice, there is a tiny Asian girl that is just better than you".
Fun fact about the drummer is that she's only about 4'10" and uses lengthened drumsticks. The tallest member is only about 5'2". More Lovebites? When Destinys Align 🤘😊🤘
Lovebites is unique. A fantastic players and metal band! I love them! Elegant ladies playing metal!!! 70% of Lovebites energy comes from music. 30% of the stage presence. First, the music is well played. Great react, see you next!
The drummer is the oldest girl , 30. My favorite drummers right now, all from japan. Akane from Band Maid, Tamu from Nemophila, and here. Nemophila is japanese all female band. They are all parts of other bands, but freinds, formed last year. Drummer, had her baby back in early year, so with this year, they cant tour, so no album yet. They have an ep, of some of their songs. But have done covers each friday, while writing. Try their song Raikei. But yeah, all my favorite music since 2000, is from Europe and Japan.

@@OldSkuleNerd exactly, it was the opening of the show, right after they take off their beatles jacket, but there are recordings of previous shows, some official and others unofficial, I don't like lifting their ball to reactors, I think it has to be a real reaction, and you are just like me, I see the first, then the second and the third to have a more concise opinion, but yes, react to their other songs, they also play hard rock and ballads
The reason people suggest this video first, is because it is starter to the concert, but it is not anywhere near their best song, and it is certainly not good first song to introduce the band. Most of the time it is too heavy for a new viewer, and also it doesn't really show their diversity at all. It shows only the hardest part. People want to shock you by suggesting their hardest song, but most of the time youtubers actually like their more softer and melodic songs. There are 2 reasons they don't move much. They have pedals at their position. They control them themselves, unlike bands like Metallica, who has group behind the scenes to do it for them... and I respect it more when they do it themselves. ALSO... there was a lot of back singing in this one, which means they are at their mics... I recommend you react to "EDGE OF THE WORLD" from the same live concert. That shows a lot more of their talents and probably sinks in better.
I've only heard 5 or 6 Lovebites songs, and this was my first time hearing Thunder Vengeance, and I really kind of agree with your impression on this one. The first two songs I heard from them was When Destinies Align, and then Shadowmaker, both were their official music videos, and both of those blew me away. I would recommend both of those songs, in that order.
You're slowly falling down the same Japanese music rabbit hole that brought me to Lovebites about a year ago and I enjoyed your reaction as much as any of your others. Though you're incorrect about their name- they actually named themselves after a Halestorm song (not Lef Deppard lol). The lead singer Asami came on to sing that song with Halestorm at Download 2019, that video is easy to find on here. As for the outfits, check out Avatar sometime, they wear pretty similar outfits on stage. I'll drop my regular request for Broken By The Scream "Sayonara Birthday" here, that's a good entry point, then move on to one of the live performances, they have a few on their official account. Hope you can get to them soon!
Oh, you’ve done it now. Mikayo doesn’t move yet she’s playing the neck off that guitar. She also writes the music and is a classical concert pianist...if they moved in sync with tracks like this they’d be comatose after a couple of numbers. Basically anything from this gig or the 2019 show from the same venue is worth your time. They’ll blow you away. I watched one number a few weeks back and I haven’t listened to anything else since... and I’m old school! Kudos for being honest, but after a few numbers that honesty better be 90% positive or there’s something up with your hearing...🖖🙂
I saw The Beatles, The Yardbirds, Cream and the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd etc. play live in the 1960s and I can tell you that, except for Mick Jagger who waggled his butt a little, all those bands were very static on stage. I went to hear them for their exciting music. I didn't give a damn, nor did the other members of the audience, if they didn't move around. I don't think Bill Wyman moved anything anything other than his fingers to play and his jaw to chew chewing gum and looked thoroughly bored. I watch and listen to Lovebites for their music, however if you watch fancams of their performances in the UK and Europe you will see that they are much more mobile on stage and interact and talk to the audience. In some videos, certainly two shot in the UK, you can hear Midori tell the crowd "you are fucking awesome". I think they might have been on their best behaviour for the FOAK gig when they had twenty-nine cameras recording their every move,
You kind of nailed it with the Slayer. The bassist Miho in an interview said that she had wrote this song after seeing Slayer live so yeah lol. Also they move more throughout the show. First song jitters maybe 🤷♂️
You should listen to the band Halestorm, which is where the band Love Bites got their name from. Halestorm is a powerfully female fronted band and the drummer is her brother.
There is a thing with female bands in Japan, with there being over 100 rock/metal bands, they have to stand out in some way, hence the reason why they all have a different dress styles, so they stand out from the others. By the way they only wear the jackets for the 1st song of the concert. Here is a short list of dress styles: Lovebites: Angry bridesmaids Babymetal: gothic lolita Band Maid: Maids Fate Gear: Steam punk Aldious: Nightwear/ballroom Try Fate Gear - Mega Bullets or Headless Godess
I’m Japanese. I’m 51 yrs old. I was in the United States in early 1990s as a student of Oklahoma State University. And I laughed at your joke😆 By the way, I really like your honest reaction👍
Wonderful to see these 5 talented women on your stream, sir. I have a recommendation to you - Swan Song, in my opinion their best. Especially if you find the extended live version where the dark-haired guitarist Miyako plays an etude by Tchaikowski (sp?) as an intro. She is a piano prodigy and started at 3, didn't start guitar until she was 18 and now, close to or just over 30 she shreds that instrument too. Remarkably talented, these 5.
The tempos, vocal styles, mood, etc all change throughout these - check them out! Devon Townsend - Kingdom Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine Slipknot - The Nameless Lamb of God - Overlord Mushroomhead - We Are the Truth
Good first time reaction. Japanese metal scene is big and the 3 u came across is just the tip of the iceberg. They're getting popular worldwide despite the language barrier as music speaks for itself! Looking fwd to your truthful opinion and views, dont be too affected by negative comments. Nobody is always right, NOBODY including you and all commenters
Oh, as other suggestions, Maybe "Edge of the World" for a more varied (Epic) song... Then maybe their early " When Destinies align" or "Rising", my first introduction was "Shadowmaker" which made me continue searching.
My first impression was the Vocalist was an opera singer, and song I heard sounded like something off Judas Priest. Nostradamus album. Had to listen other songs to feel great about them.
First a correction: They named themselves after the Halestorm song, not the Def Leppard song. So: You bet they aren't all about darkness and gloom and blood. Some of us think that has gotten a bit tired. As one reviewer said, "Now THERE's a novel idea--metal songs with hope!" This discrepancy between the look and the sound is called "the Gap" and Band-Maid also use it. As for movement on stage, you have to see others where they move around a lot. I'll have links for you in another comment.
With "THE GAP", I'm most likely weird. I listen to music with my ears not my eyes. This being the first song of the set, they are getting their butterflies out and taking in the feed back from the crowd. Why spend all your energy on the first song? Won't have any energy left for the end.
The Pentagram in Germany also known as "Drudenfuss" is associated with Demon summoning, because it makes it possible to seal and control the supernatural and therefore allows for negotations. Its use in Japan is similar, where it is part of the practice of Onmyōdō. The five points represent the five elements (either Earth-Fire-Water-Wind-Spirit/Void or Wood-Fire-Earth-Metal-Water). The idea is, that in balance the five elements create a stable flow of protective energy. Similar how in a great band like Lovebites all five musicians must be in balance to create a steady flow of powerful sound!
The color white in Japanese culture represents morning. They used to dress the dead in a white kimono. White also represents truth and purity. Modern wedding dresses are white. Sometimes Shinto wedding dresses are white or mostly white. They are kind of playing around with the symbolism.
I think you are very contradicted . Do you remember what you said about Kanami of Band-maids when you reacted to them for the first time ? You said , as far as I remember , that she was dancing while she was playing the guitar . and you said that she should more concentrate on playing the guitar . And now you are saying a completely opposite thing about Lovebites .
they’ve mentioned in the past that they wear white to stand out on stage. because they’re all really tiny and petite- though thats not the only reason i’m sure~
Friend, first of all I've been listening to hard rock/ metal since the first Black Sabbath album. 50yrs. And yes, you should listen to more Lovebites. I am from a time when you LISTENED to music instead of watching it. Music is an experience for the ears not the eyes. Tony Iommi and Ritchie Blackmore do not move around a lot either. You do not have to jump around like a calf with the red ass. In fact I think this distracts from analyzing their musical abilities. They are up there to play music and not run around in a maniacal fashion. Their expression is in their music. Not their stage antics. This is not a three chord jumping jack band. And as a supposed 'old school' reactor you should recognize this. Really man. No they are not teenagers they are 28-30 ish yrs old. The guitarist on the right with dark hair has been playing classical piano since the age of 3, and picked up guitar at age 18 and has a musical degree in music education. The guitarist on the left has been playing the guitar since the age of 20 and has a degree in Pharmacology. The drummer and bassist have played in a previous metal band, Destrose. The vocalist formerly sang RnB, Soul.
Lovebites is (mostly) a power metal and but they have influences from Metallica, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Slayer, Dragon Force, Gary Moore, Whitesnake, etc., and they’re developing their own style. I recommend their live performances; they really shine live, especially their latest concert earlier this year “Zepp Divercity, Tokyo 2020”. Other recommended live performances are “Daughters of the dawn”, “Battle in the east”, “Wacken”. Avoid “Bloodstuck” (bad audio). My song suggestions: “When destinies align”, “Hammer of wrath”, “Shadowmaker” (live), Holy war”, “Break the wall”, “Rising”, “Signs of deliverance”, “Swan song” (with classical piano), “Scream for me”, “Raise some hell”, “Under the red sky”, and a special mention to “Liar”: “Dancing with the devil” (classic rock and bluesy vocals), “Empty daydream” (nice piano and vocals with catchy mid tempo), “Epilogue” (epic power ballad, great vocals, nice piano, scorching old school guitar solos) and “Edge of the world” (epic power ballad, nice vocals, nice guitar solos and song build up) Some other Japanese all-female rock bands are: Aldious, Mary’s blood, Bridear, Scandal, Hagane, Nemophila, Fate Gear, Show Ya, etc. Japanese bands with women in an important role: Asterism, D_Drive, Unlucky Morpheous, Iron bunny, Mardelas, etc. Other good Japanese bands: Galneryus, Jupiter, Versailles, Maximum the hormone, Ningen Isu, X-Japan, etc.
After decades of bands that stood out on stage and relied on the quality of their talent, dozens and dozens of classic tracks that put the same people in to the RnR hall of fame, your nitpick is these women don't move? You are earning any down votes you get.
Haha...thanks for an honest reaction. Haruna 10?? Japanese girls really look younger and she really looks like a cute doll. Much more than the 20 you presumed. Miyako never moves, but there use to be more action on stage, than this. I THINK you will love Livebites too later on. I suppose you got explanations about band name and so on...
I really liked your way to react music and I subscribed! Now I would like to see you reacting to Band Maiko, let me tell you about... 2 years ago, Band Maid announced their end and a new beginning with another purpose, changed their names, costumes, another language (Kioto instead Japanese) and the new band was called Band Maiko. They released a new single called Secret Maiko lips, after they said that was an April's fools!!! But everyone liked and they released a mini album with a new music called Gion Cho. Now, Band Maiko is declared enemies from Band Maid. MIKU KOBATO→Hatoko (Base Guitar) SAIKI→Fujiki (Vocals) KANAMI→Kanoemi ( Lead Guitar) MISA→Umemisa (Bass) AKANE→Akatsuki ( Drums) You can find the videos on Band Maid Channel. Another song from Band Maid is Real Existence, you will like!
Some Japanese bands. Take your pick: BAND-MAID [All their songs... really!], LOVEBITES [Raise some Hell, and all the other songs], MAXIMUM THE HORMONE [Yoshu Fukushu], CROSSFAITH [Catastrophe], SiM [Killing Me], NINGEN ISU [Heartless Scat], UNLUCKY MORPHEUS [Black Pentagram], YOUSEI TEIKOKU [Astral Dogma], COLDRAIN [Die Tomorrow], CRYSTAL LAKE [The Circle], GIVEN BY THE FLAMES [Ronove], ANGRY FROG REBIRTH [2Step Syndrome], SILENTLY SHOOTING TRAITORS [Manipulate], ALDIOUS [Dominator], BRIDEAR [Light in the Dark], CINQ ELEMENT [Destiny], MARY'S BLOOD [Marionette], DOLL$BOXX [Take my Chance] , SOKONINAR [Tenohira De Odoru], HELLO SLEEPWALKERS [Flying Saucer], TELECiDE [Tied up Memories], SPIRITBOX [Belcarra], NEKO [Ghost on a Record], ROTTENGRAFFTY [Hallelujah], DIR EN GREY [Ningen wo Kaburu], X JAPAN [Kurenai], DAZZLE VISION [Second], GALNERYUS [Angel of Salvation], and many more...
Ok now that you done lovebites, you kind of have to react to to Halestorm and especially their song Love Bites (and so do I) since Lovebites took their name from that song. The second recommendation for the day, The Pretty Reckless just released a video for their song 25, lead singer is the little girl from the 2001 The Grinch movie with Jim Carrey (it's safe to say she made a good choice of leaving hollywood for music, she's very good.)
I hadn't seen this one, so it was fun to watch. While I haven't seen a lot of this band, there are some songs I like better than this one. My favorite live is The Hammer Of Wrath (live - five of a kind), which isn't the only one from 'five of a kind' that I like, but its the live stuff I've heard. When Destinies Align is the song I like with a cool video. I don't think they grow these bands on a farm out there, I think they create them in a top secret underground lab. I know its likely on the list, but you have yet to try out Doll$Boxx, which is a must.
Most Metal Bands of our time are dark-looking leather guys, but after the concert they go eat vegan and at 10.30 p.m. they lie in bed (alone). I think the 80-year-old Rolling Stones are still more badass in real life than most young Metal Bands. I say, just Lovebites and Band Maid are different from all other Metal Bands ! Probably both are not mainstream for that reason. Or am I wrong?
I loved your jokes about Garth Brooks ( I got the joke immediately), you kept me laughing. There is a lot more to learn about this band, most of what you'll hear is most likely in the comments below.
To be honest "Thunder Vengeance" is one of my least favourite Lovebites songs and not the one I would recommend to anyone new to the band. It always strikes me as a little overly chaotic and doesn't have the same polish and virtuosa musicianship as songs such as Swan Song, Edge of the World or Holy War or others. It's really a show opener, put at the beginning of the set list for in your face impact and to set you up for the more masterful songs to come. Perhaps it's just me but I wouldn't want anyone to form an opinion of the band on the basis of this one song. Regarding the choice of costume, the band have been very clear about that. In a genre dominated by men with tattoos, piercings, grubby black clothes and neck beards who have worn the same T-shirt for the past four years and live on a diet of road kill, they deliberately set out to emphasise, even weaponise their femininity. They are all mature and sophisticated ladies and dress accordingly on stage. It is also a deliberate juxtaposition between the heavy metal and the elegant white costumes. This is a favourite ploy in Japanese culture. They call it the gap... the contrast between the appearance and the music where one apparently contradicts the other. Band Maid does it by dressing up in silly French Maid outfits, Babymetal mixes idol J-pop Lolita fashions with heavy metal, Aldious goes super glamorous to play metal and so on. Beyond all that however, Lovebites is an extraordinary band of truly gifted and accomplished musicians. Miyako, for instance, (she's the dark haired guitarist with the Dean Icon) is a concert standard classical pianist who only picked up the guitar when she was 18. Asami, the lead singer, is an ex R&B singer with a background in ballet and Jazz dance for heaven's sake. Haruna, the drummer, is all of four feet nine inches tall and about 75 lbs in weight soaking wet yet she can keep that pace up for a two hour concert and never stop smiling throughout. Midori, the other guitarist, is another demon on the guitar and Miho, the bassist is the glue that welds them all together, the band's founder and its boss. I do hope that you will take the time to delve more deeply into this relatively new band (since 2017) with 3 full length albums to their credit already and 2 more EPs to boot. They are well worth the effort and are rapidly gaining recognition in the west as one of the best power metal bands of either gender in the world.
@@OldSkuleNerd Well these kind of things are inevitably subjective. I'm sure there are a lot of Lovebites fans who love this song. It's always a matter of taste I suppose. There is, for instance, a Lovebites song called "Rising" which is a very melodic, almost symphonic, power metal song which many Lovebites fans don't seem to like but I adore. Each to their own.
@@michaelafrancis1361 Thanks for the tip with "Rising", didn't knew that one till now. I'm also not a real fan of full power metal and my favorite so far is "Epilogue" and i wished they would do some more stuff like that. "Empty Daydreams" and "Frozen Serenade" come next or me then.
I would rather say this is more Iron Maiden vs Metallica with some classis piano mixed into it :). Not bandmaid/babymetal. - i would do Swan Song next or Holy War.
My 70 year old dad said that Lovebites' music is like a representation of 80s bands like Judas Priest, Helloween, Metalica, Iron Maiden etc. If you like 80s metal I highly recommend Lovebites over Band Maid and Babymetal. You need to listen at least 4 different song styles from Lovebites to understand what I mean, here are my recommendations:
Holy War, Swan Song = power metal
The Hammer Of Wrath, Break The Wall = Thrash metal
Dancing With The Devil, Empty Daydream = hardrock (with metal elements)
Ballad = Epilogue, Edge Of The World
Great reaction man
I think its fair to recommend Lovebites over Band Maid if you like metal, since Band Maid aren't metal :-)
Who can tell you to not to react to Lovebites. This is one of the most awesome bands I've seen in Heavy Metal since a long long time ago.
Exactly, never saw such a comment, that is weird that some people told him to stay away from Lovebites, they fucking rock!
Yeah that's crazy why would they tell him NOT to react to something lol? Especially this amazing band
Lovebites are phenomenal, personally I love this live performance and song.
"Air-quotes" or not, anyone saying that Lovebites is a cross between BABYMETAL and BAND-MAID doesn't know what they are talking about.
Tiny Haruna. So small she once thought she'd got caught in a downpour only to find she'd walked under her faucet. But behind the drums she's a thunderstorm :)
agreed.... she is fierce
new material. there's a stage waiting for you someplace.
LOL. Gosh guys, Water nice bunch of people you are :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 ha ha
@@GaryHolloway-810 Don't get flushed on stage
They're not a cross between Band-Maid and Babymetal. The "all-female" thing in hard rock and heavy metal is nothing new in Japan, there have been countless all-female rock and metal bands in Japan in the last 40 years. It's not a novelty and hasn't been for a very long time. Lovebites are influenced primarily by 80s European power metal and 80s thrash, and they're awesome.
Some of the point others have likely already addressed;
The name comes from a Halestorm song, not from Def Leppard.
Peace.
The first I know of is SHOW-YA, starting in 1981 and there have been a great many since then. 40 years and counting.
Sun-Go!
Also, I think this was the first song of the show, so they were warming up...
They're named after a Halestorm song; Love bites (So do I ). They're all in their late 20's and the drummer is the oldest (about 30).
totally knew that but lol as an OLD SCHOOL guy I had to make the Def Leppard joke
Other way around. Haruna is like 26 and Miyako is 31
Hey Richard, thanks for checking them out!
These ladies has more musical skills then 90% of the rest.
someone actually said don't do lovebites ? !! you will NOT be sorry. best thing i've seen and heard in years.they write all of their own music. mostly by miyako the right guitarist.
@@OldSkuleNerd me too!
Short introduction to Lovebites the team of power metal godesses.
Asami R&B, jazz, soul, metal, rock singer, lirycs,
Haruna one of the best drummer worldwide, founder,
Miho bass guitar boss of the band, lirycs, founder, back singer,
Midori lead, rythm guitar, spanish guitar, back singer,
Miyako lead, rythm guitar, spanish guitar, piano, keybord, back singer, main composer but all Ladies compose.
Welcome to the magic world of Lovebites.
Thanks for nice reaction
The Rock Gods have spoken.
that is a very good idea..
@@OldSkuleNerd
A little Halestorm songlist for you then. My personal recomendations.
-Love Bites (So Do I)
-Black Vultures
-Love/Hate Heartbreak
-Here's To Us (Guest Version) ---Check out the list of collaborators on the guest version...it's kind of epic.
-Killing Ourselves to Live
-Familiar Taste of Poison
Ok I'm done...for now.
Peace.
Hair Extensions? Nope these girls each have an abundance of long hair as well as Insane Musicianship.
One more fun about the lead singer: she used to be an R&B singer. No history in Metal AT ALL.
she could be an Opera singer! She;s that good!
She did sing backup for two different rock bands.
Can you run around in high heels 🤣
I'm glad you finally got around to Lovebites! Looking forward to watching you dive deeper into their tracks.
And the Lyrics is mostly uplifting and feminist. The are on the bright side of metal! ;-)
They have "own costum style"
Like band-maid, dress maid but playing hard rock?
Baby metal, like cheerleader but singing with music metal?
Now Lovebites, like beauty princess's but playing fantastic heavy metal?
For me it's not problem. Cause they look creative and fun.
That's why many people in the world watch musician in Japan right now.
Unique. Talented. Entertain.
Anyway hope you want check out Lovebites again.
I thing I've been many requested Lovebites song on your Chanel.
Try they song "Raise some hell" or "Edge of the world"
And I'm sorry if my English language is bad.
Thunder Vengeance lyrics
:
Gods of vengeance
Standing in the nightmare
The peal of thunder broke me and more
When losing my eye
The days will pass before me
A faded memory of what used to be
Death by oblivion (Do it)
Deadly criterion (Do it)
Flames of despair burning
My blood is boiling inside me
Death by oblivion (Do it)
Deadly criterion (Do it)
Inner enraged demon is becoming me
Here come days of revenge
Until the day the light can reach into my blind eye
Lost in the rage
These scars are here to tell me that I’m still alive
Into the blackness
Don’t reveal weakness
Hiding my curses, pay off an old grudge
Forgotten feelings, other than resentment
Don’t even mind giving others pain
Damn the redemption (Do it)
Drowning confusion (Do it)
Doom filled with righteous indignation
Where’s my salvation?
Damn the redemption (Do it)
Drowning confusion (Do it)
Does my life have meaning?
Am I a speck of dust?
I’ve got blood on my hands
I want to claw and tear you, rip apart your name
Die in the sands
Your sins will never be erased or washed away
Beaten down but the hatred’s growing
Rotten pain that is never healing
Only I can end my suffering
I won’t kneel down because of yesterday
Gods of vengeance
Standing in the nightmare
The peal of thunder broke me and more
When losing my eye
The days will pass before me
A faded memory of what used to be
Death by oblivion (Do it)
Deadly criterion (Do it)
Flames of despair burning
My blood is boiling inside me
Death by oblivion (Do it)
Deadly criterion (Do it)
Inner enraged demon is becoming me
Here come days of revenge
Until the day the light can reach into my blind eye
Lost in the rage
These scars are here to tell me that I’m still alive

I want to claw and tear you, rip apart your name
Die in the sands
Your sins will never be erased or washed away

Enjoy it.
HARUNA !!! HARUNA !!! HARUNA !!!
This a bit of a static performance , maybe as its first song, but usually move morethan this
There aren't enough adjectives to describe how amazing this band is. Give Thunder Vengence (live) a listen.
I remember reading they decided on their all white "uniforms" and high heels as they felt it would help their stage presence
great reaction man, the more you listen to Lovebites songs, you'll realize they are like bringing back 80s metal songs
For the next reaction I will recommended "Holy War" for power metal
and The "Hammer Of Wrath or Break The Wall" for thrash metal
FYI :
- their album was mastered/mixed by the same people who worked on Nightwish and Stratovarius
- they won the Metal Hammer 2018 in the Best New Band category
- became the first (Japanese) female band to perform on Wacken, Bloodstock and Graspopmetal
- they toured with Dragonforce last year in UK
Thanks for the reaction video
More lovebites. They are amazing. love them.
I think Miyako is very cool. Perfect performers.
I LOVE THIS BAND. 🤘😎🤘

Welcome to the Lovebites.
they are so talented and so many of you have said this wasnt even a great song by them.... I AM PUMPED!!!!
I think they might have been on their best behaviour for the FOAK gig when they had twenty-nine cameras recording their every move,
Big old school thrash metal vibes, it reminding me Over the wall of Testament or some kind Slayer. Great stuff from Japan.
Can’t stop with one reaction, need a few reactions to get a good feeling for any band.
Here is a short list of dress styles:
Lovebites: Angry bridesmaids
Babymetal: gothic lolita
Band Maid: Maids
Fate Gear: Steam punk
Aldious: Nightwear/ballroom
Try Fate Gear - Mega Bullets or Headless Godess
Devon Townsend - Kingdom
Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine
Slipknot - The Nameless
Lamb of God - Overlord
Mushroomhead - We Are the Truth
Good first time reaction. Japanese metal scene is big and the 3 u came across is just the tip of the iceberg. They're getting popular worldwide despite the language barrier as music speaks for itself! Looking fwd to your truthful opinion and views, dont be too affected by negative comments. Nobody is always right, NOBODY including you and all commenters
Please check the song 《swan song》live🤘🏻
@@seizetheday5008 Especially given how all-out they go for the entire concert. You're right on the money.
yes the first part I swore James Hetfield was going to come running out on the stage
My pentagram PF is a Devils Pentagram lol. Normal pentagram is a wiccan pentagram. slightly tilted to the left is the pentagram of pythagoras.
One of the lead guitarist related to Ritchie Blackmoore (stone face)
In fact I think this distracts
from analyzing their musical abilities. They are up there to play music and not run around in
a maniacal fashion. Their expression is in their music. Not their stage antics. This is not a three chord jumping jack band. And as a supposed 'old school' reactor you should recognize this. Really man. No they are not teenagers they are 28-30 ish yrs old. The guitarist on the right with dark
hair has been playing classical piano since the age of 3, and picked up guitar at age 18 and has a musical degree in music education. The guitarist on the left has been playing the guitar since the age of 20 and has a degree in Pharmacology. The drummer and bassist have played
in a previous metal band, Destrose. The vocalist formerly sang RnB, Soul.
Try "Raise Some Hell." Same show.
SWEET I KNEW THE LOVEBITES FANS WOULD GUIDE ME!!!!! THANK YOU BILL!!!!!
My song suggestions: “When destinies align”, “Hammer of wrath”, “Shadowmaker” (live), Holy war”, “Break the wall”, “Rising”, “Signs of deliverance”, “Swan song” (with classical piano), “Scream for me”, “Raise some hell”, “Under the red sky”, and a special mention to “Liar”: “Dancing with the devil” (classic rock and bluesy vocals), “Empty daydream” (nice piano and vocals with catchy mid tempo), “Epilogue” (epic power ballad, great vocals, nice piano, scorching old school guitar solos) and “Edge of the world” (epic power ballad, nice vocals, nice guitar solos and song build up)
Some other Japanese all-female rock bands are: Aldious, Mary’s blood, Bridear, Scandal, Hagane, Nemophila, Fate Gear, Show Ya, etc.
You are earning any down votes you get.
there name came from another song lovebites by Halestorm. you should react to that song if you haven't hear it yet cause in your discerption.
Now checkout Aldious and the live song Dominator. Another all female metal band from Japan that started the rebirth of metal in Japan.
MIKU KOBATO→Hatoko (Base Guitar)
SAIKI→Fujiki (Vocals)
KANAMI→Kanoemi ( Lead Guitar)
MISA→Umemisa (Bass)
AKANE→Akatsuki ( Drums)
You can find the videos on Band Maid Channel.
The second recommendation for the day, The Pretty Reckless just released a video for their song 25, lead singer is the little girl from the 2001 The Grinch movie with Jim Carrey (it's safe to say she made a good choice of leaving hollywood for music, she's very good.)
thanks for being real... Got a Sub...
Technically love bites is a Judas Priest song, you should look it up :) Love your honest reaction man.
For something different, check out Gregorian Chant: Hell's Bells live Berlin, 2016. Awesomely creepy AC/DC cover
This music remember old Metallica times and few parts Slayer🤣🤣🤣 like put a music from the guys and change the voice😅
and throw in some Iron Maiden
they are more metal than most of modern metal bands :) i personaly only like lovebites from jmetal bands.... but them i LOVE SO MUCH
Don't worry bout the negative comments
"Lef Deppard" 😅😅😅
LOVE BITES, LOVE BLEEDS (its bringin me to my knees!!) LOVE LIVES, LOVE DIES ( ITS NO SUPRISE!!!!) COME ON!!!!
@@OldSkuleNerd Leff Deppard LOL
I loved your jokes about Garth Brooks ( I got the joke immediately), you kept me laughing. There is a lot more to learn about this band, most of what you'll hear is most likely in the comments below.
Great, honest reaction. Awesome band, good music. I don't understand people... why so many downvotes? :( Idiotism is a bigger virus then covid :p
haha lef deppard - classic. No one else caught onto that one? (Also im an aussie and i got the Garth Brooks reference)
Playing their weapons... "This machine kills fascists" haha. Never seen them before - that was cool.
I am honestly glad to hear I reacted first to their "WORST" song it only gets better from here right?!?
@@gzignl For "Swan Song" make sure you do the version with the Chopin intro 😍
My favorite in the group is Haruna. The queen of the drums. The drum work in this song is phenomenal, including the break after Midori's solo
Check out "Raise some hell" live!!!
