Saw a Northern Pygmy owl today in the forest in Southern Oregon for the 1st time in my 61 years. Cool! Was chasing a sparrow and missed and landed by my feet. And he wasn't much bigger than the sparrow. Took me a second to realize holy mole, it's an owl? Don't think he'd ever seen a human before, he just sat at looked at me, then went up a branch, then another and we had a nice conversation for about 5 minutes. :) Can't wait to go back to see if I can find him again. What a cutey!
I tell people "They are back up birds " they will do that sometime for hours and sound like a stuck truck back up alarm , fortunately I was able to save one from my Cat recently I see him walking around with one in his mouth I was able to get it away with out hurting the little guy , he seemed a little dazed so I put him in a bbig box with a towel and covered it and put him in a warm place over night and he seemed good in the morning , so I took him way out in the forest and put him in a tree. They are pretty mellow around people I've been right up next to them and they don't seem concerned
it's adorable.
So this is what I've been hearing, it was freaking me the hell out
If this freaks you out, you should hear the Barn Owl calling 😉

So weird, 5 dislikes. It is what it is, a pygmy owl calling. If you don't like it switch off!
It's all the Chickadees on RUclips 😅
They dislike it probably because they think people will use the audio to lure Pygmy Owls
Now that you have mentioned it they just might.@@KenCheng
of all the RUclips videos I've seen on pygmy owls, this is the one that most resembles the calls I've heard.
They look quite similar to little owls
Puffy ,smart and adorable thumbnails cutie
Sweet clip
Sounds like the Eurasian scops owl. I wonder if they are somehow related.
