Absolutely fantastic vid, great narrating, very entertaining those zds are awesome cant wait to have a crack at them, on the Kayak this coming weekend in WPC comp 👌
Thanks DB, 2021 season has been extremely tough on Grafham, cold weather, unusual, ever changing wind directions has meant I have not managed to be there at the right time and place at all. Seems like they may have been late spawning and now with heavy rain and cooler temps into august it looks like the fry are still holding in the weedline, Zander have been caught very early or late in the day but generally not active during the daylight hours. I would stick to areas between the weed and 25ft, fish the bottom patiently and just keep covering water, small lures also. Best of luck with the WPC
Cracking video - really good videography and thoroughly entertaining. Really interested in your approach and techniques - I see you have another video up on that which I shall watch. Good health and tight-lines for this season!
@@flylurefishingphotographer that would be great! I assume you use a 9ft 9wt rod? What lines to you use and how do you count them down? Some necessary flies would also be helpful. Some general tactics would also be wonderful, I don't expect any specifics like locations and stuff like that. I'd be happy with enough information to get me going. I lure fish for the predators at Grafham, but my first love is fly fishing and I would love to get a few Zander on the fly! My goal is to catch a nice Perch, Pike and Zander on the fly next year.
Thanks David will put together a bit of a guide, may take me a few weeks, but it will happen. Just desperate to get out on Grafham again, hopefully in December and drop some big lures! On the three species, in terms of difficulty, in my experience at Grafham it's the reverse of lure fishing, the hardest seems to be Perch on the fly, then Pike and then Zander. The big Perch in particular seem difficult to get bites with, they follow right up to the boat and then leave you feeling rejected!
@@flylurefishingphotographer that great, I'll keep an eye out for that. Thanks. I can't wait either! I was at Rutland this Saturday fly fishing from the bank, there are some nice brownies about at the moment!
HI RYBA, thanks for your comments. We use regular 10wt fly rods, unlike with lure fishing rods a fly rod is too flexible to really make a strike, so you must keep the line tight and in touch with the fly and use that to set the hook when the bite comes. Good flies include Deceivers, baitfish and Clouser minnow patterns at certain times. The game is, how deep are the fish? What are they likely feeding on? What line sink rate do i need to get to them and what fly can i fish to present constantly at that depth. Hope that helps.
9:32, congrats, very nice zander! Big fat lunker :)
Cert Nice 🧐😁😄🤔
Great vid 👍 thanks for sharing 👍👍

Very Nice🤔🤔😁😅
Thanks 😅 New film coming soon..
Beautiful video. Congrats! 🤗
Can you tell me what filter did you use on photos?
Thanks MK, pleased you enjoyed it. I use a HOYA Pro1 Circular polarised filter on an old Canon 5D mk2. Hope that answers your question.
I would love to give this a go next year. I can't find any "how to" videos anywhere. How about making one to give us newbies a place to start?
Thanks David, please let me know what questions you have and I will put something together.

The zander's mouth is quite hard, what kind of rods (action) did you use, what kind of flies to provoke the zander to attack, let me know :D thx :)
