    Hi Stephanie I don’t usually comment on videos but just want you to know that the way you explain and demo your recipes is so beginner friendly that it makes no sense that you don’t have more subscribers ❤️ thank you
    I’ve recently started baking and so far I’ve tried your lemon and french apple Tarts, your lava cakes recipe and your shortbread recipe and all of them worked out to a great result. That doesn’t happen often when I follow other bakers recipes 😂 keep doing a great job and hope you’re well

    This is my number one favorite scone recipe. I've been using it since finding it on the Joy of Baking website years ago. It is absolutely no fail and so yummy! There are a variety of ingredients and techniques out there but I find this one the best. I have also found that I can make them up, get them on the cookie sheet, and then refrigerate for 1/2 hour before popping them in the oven and they do just fine. Always get compliments. BTW, love all your videos!

    I have to say, this is my go-to formula for scones. I've successfully made high quantities of these in industrial mixers by scaling this exact formula. Many people tell me that in general they don't like scones, but they love mine. A few hints: keep those butter chunks larger than you think they should be; about 1/4" cubes are actually ideal, and will make your scones nice and flakey. For a nice, sort of crunchy top, sprinkle some demara sugar (Sugar in the Raw works great) on top before baking. And despite what Stephanie says, the toothpick method really doesn't work here. You really have to just eyeball it and get a feel for when they're done. A nice brown bottom is a good indicator of done-ness, as is a crisp-looking top. All in all, a great recipe to keep in your repertoire!

    Yes, if it was very sticky, I would add a little more flour.

      Hi, I Just made these scones but my dough was much more sticky than yours and I had to add more flour. Is it because I used milk instead of cream? Did you use 36% cream?

    Scones can be this way because of too much flour or too much mixing of the dough.

    Lovely those these scones are, they are not traditional British ones since this recipe contains egg which makes them denser and more cakey in texture

    • @joyofbaking
      @joyofbaking  2 года назад

      Yes that’s true. You could leave out the egg and just add more milk if you want a more bread like texture. I have other scone recipes on the site, some containing eggs and some that don’t. www.joyofbaking.com/SconesIntroduction.html

    Hi! I love your videos and make almost everything you make. Just a question. What is the difference between a cream scone and buttermilk scone

    • @joyofbaking
      @joyofbaking  6 лет назад +1

      The cream scone is more like a cake and the buttermilk scone is more like a bread.

    Why did my dough turn out so runny and batter like? I followed the recipe to the T but I used a food processor to cut the butter into flour. Maybe I over did it? Would that really have made such a big difference?

    • @joyofbaking
      @joyofbaking  6 лет назад +1

      Maybe you added too much milk. Next time, I would hold back a little of the milk.
