This song gets in your head. She is totally amazing. I saw her at a friends wedding playing cello, she was just out of high school, and was amazing then.
There is no one like Lisa Germano. She sings with her heart and soul. If there only should stay one songwriter-musician in the whole universe I wish it would be her.
I am SOOO impressed by her body of work. I first heard her ca. 1994 when I subscribed to music mags and read an intriguing review of Geek the Girl. The music was beyond classification in the way that Frank Zappa is, but so much more introspective whereas someone like Zappa is a hopeless cynic, albeit a supremely talented one. After that I got her Happiness album and realized that Lisa is an entire genre unto herself. No one can touch her in terms of commentary on relationships, except perhaps Aimee Mann. I love Aimee, too, and have seen her live, but her work is well-crafted pop. Lisa is so far outside the mainstream musically and so lyrically challenging it is even after 26+ years still scary to listen to those early albums if you are not in the right frame of mind. By the time I got to see her live ca. 1996 (Excerpts from a love circus) in Copenhagen she was long since done with playing fiddle or guitar, as shown here. Instrumentally, I recall she did some noodling on keyboards. But she was still utterly mesmerising to hear and see singing what I consider far from her best material. She is a musical and lyrical tour de force. Not everyone's cup of tea for sure. Yet what happened to her in the music business is criminal. If she were playing anywhere in the world I would drop everything to go see her live again. She is that good, even without trying to be. She is just herself, speaking truth to power imbalances in relationships, and that is what makes her great.
I think the only rival, female singer-songwriter, for her is Nico, who sang with the Velvet Underground. They both share the same greatness in musical output, but also in terms of the dark topics of their art. Lisa Germano is in my top 10 singer-songwriters in the entire history.
@@julianleil7847 With Aimee you cannot go wrong with her Bachelor No. 2 record, which her label initially rejected and she had to go and put out herself. Some of the songs were written for the movie Magnolia. Also some of her poppier radio-airplay stuff, like 'That's just what you are' and 'Long shot'. She disses ex-boyfriends and her own girlfriends, but is often just as hard on herself.
@@julianleil7847 No, I love Ani, too, but she is more punk/alt.folk. Aimee is more pop, but with a razor sharp lyrical edge. Aimee worships 60's bands like Badfinger and rarely does covers but when she does its stuff from thr 60s like Badfinger and Harry Nilsson.
I thought Louise Post was great. until I saw Tanya Donelly, but when I saw Lisa Germano. Jesus, I was so lucky to have all their great music. I purchased their CDs and support them all the way.
Amazing! Love this song I have a tape record with her live in Moscow:-) I was sitting right in front of her and recorded all with tape-recorder .. I'm still listening to this record to get inspired!
so i have the youtube forty playlist on...and as you know they add in diff bands then the one you started listening too so im not really listening to the songs closely. then i here 'go to hell fuck you' somehow tht gets my attention and i relisten to the song. she is hypnotizing, magical, wonderful. in a way i cant explain
It's been so long since Lisa Germano released new music, and it's virtually impossible to find any information regarding her career post-2013. Anybody know what she's been up to in the last decade or so?
*ahem* What I meant to say, before my fingers decided to post a single word (not a bad one at least), and before I came to realize that I don't have a clue as to how one goes about deleting a erroneous post, is that I hope you never take this video down. Though I do wish the video quality was a little better, Lisa's rendition here is better than the original by far. So heartfelt. Great upload. Where was that and when ?
Lisa Germano is one of the best musician of ever. she should be more appreciate than other atrists
I agree she’s a fine musician/performer, but this ain’t her best work

What would you suggest a best work of Aimee Mann? Never heard of her yet.

Her songs are primal therapy
I just saw Lisa perform this in concert. It was beautiful and gave me chills. There's no one quite like her. Amazing!

I thought Louise Post was great. until I saw Tanya Donelly, but when I saw Lisa Germano. Jesus, I was so lucky to have all their great music. I purchased their CDs and support them all the way.

Along with Mark Lanegan, Tom Waits, and L. Cohen Lisa Germano is among by favourite singer song writers.

What the Hell is He playing?

He is playing an Omnichord
I need an omnichord
who wants to put on some lisa and make out
its an omnichord.
NO! That is Antonio Banderas playing the Omnichord...I stake my life!
This is just a bad show I think. I've heard live performances where she sounds great.
The Verve are rock, not emo.
she lacks voice
Ma chi è questa?! Oh mio Dio... Scusate, però non mi piace...
