Bro you have to keep going with TOP.. Tyler Joseph (lead singer/rapper) is one of the most underrated artists ever.. none of their music sounds the same each song you hear.. check out 'Ode to Sleep' offical video and 'Lane Boy' official video next plz... PS the Live version of Holding onto You at the Fox theatre is amazing
Haha there are a lot of great songs by them though, I was thinking to tell him about this one or Guns For Hands or Leave The City, but I picked this one, at least for now
Hey hey, old video but I hope what I have to bring to the conversation still matters! Tyler Joseph (the singer, rapper, writer and all that stuff from the duo) is a really sweet person. But he has suffered from anxiety and depression for most of his life now. It's something he still struggles with. One of his goals through his music is to bring hope to others like him. To help them feel seen and cared for. He writes and sings about the bad stuff and his journey, telling his fans that if he was - and still is - able to survive and thrive, they can, too. This particular song, is about a "high" in the depression. One of those moments when you are able to take control over your mind and body and find hope again. About a moment when he realised that he was actually shutting down people that wanted to help - and his faith in God. In that moment, he opened himself again, to the love of others and to his faith and started to heal. In the video, the skull creatures are his suicidal thoughts. In the Vessel era (the title of the album), Skeleton Face was an embodiment of suicidal tendencies, a character he played. So each little creature is a suicidal thought trying to turn him away from love and faith, and to bring him down. The entire text goes from his realisation to his advice to others like him. My favorite part is this verse: "Remember the moment you know exactly where you're going 'Cause the next moment, before you know it Time is slowing and it's frozen still And the window sill looks really nice, right? You think twice about your life, it probably happens at night, right? Fight it, take the pain, ignite it Tie a noose around your mind, loose enough to breathe fine and tie it To a tree, tell it, "You belong to me This ain't a noose, this is a leash And I have news for you, you must obey me"" So, to me, this scene with the noose/leash is more of an image of him getting closer to God and hope (he's on top so closer to Heaven and light) and he looks back at his demons and sees they have no strength nor power over him. And when he sees that, they lose their hold over him and the noose/leash gives out. Your interpretation is interesting though, and it's art so... you're not wrong, you just see it under a different light! ^^ And it has quite some weight to it too. Tyler is close to his fans and always devastated when one of us goes through it and don't survive. He knows some of us stay alive partly thanks to his work so he could also be regretting not having the power to help them anymore here. A really interesting analyze! The little jab he takes at other artists is funny but I also see it as a plea. They have the means to help people, to give them strength, to help them feel seen and to just, you know, do something that matters. Maybe he just wants others to help him make the world a better place. But I might be overanalyzing here XD Anyway, I hope that long ass comment wasn't too much... it's just that this duo, Tyler's words and this particular song have helped me fight through really dark times. It actually saved my life when I was in quite a bad place. I just had to find the strength to press play and to remember that he survived, that I wasn't alone and that I could do it too, you know? So I just wanted to maybe help someone get its meaning, listen to it and maybe find peace again. Just spreading the word XD Thanks for your video and your different point of view and have a nice day! P.S.: I'm French so I hope I didn't english too badly. I did my best and went over the comment quite a few times so it should be okay?
He said “my gracious.” 🤣🤣🤣 I don’t think there is any bad songs from these guys. Tyler is genius and Josh is such a fun and awesome self taught drummer.
My short top list with few more songs for reaction) 1st lane : Vessel album - Ode to sleep - Car radio (music video) + - holding on to you (music video - cuz it's first big video work from TOP) + - guns for hands (music video) - trees (live from fox theatre - song with one of the biggest meaning for Ty , he wrote it a looong time ago in high school ) 2nd line : blurryface album - stressed out ( huge song that made them so popular right now ) + - lane boy (mus video) - ride (live from Fox theater ) - hometown ( to feel different styles in their music ) - tear in my heart (mus vid) - the judge - fairy local (mus vid) - massage man - goner (live from fox theatre , ending of the album ) - Heavydirtysoul ( mus video - this one is connection to the next album ) 3rd line : Trench album - jumpsuit ( mus vid , connected to hvdrtsl ) - nico and the niners (next one in saga ) - levitate ( next one in saga ) - the hype (both album and Berlin version) - heathens ( not from any of albums, but connected with storyline ) - morph - chlorine (mus vid) - my blood - cut my lip - pet cheetah - bandito (big connection in storyline) - leave the city ( ending of era ) 4th line - TOP x Mutemath session - stripped down session of TOP songs by Tyler - kitchen sink - blasphemy, drown (from Tyler's solo project he made in high school) - Forest (live Newport music hall ) - fall away (feat dr. Blum) - level of concern
Love your interpretation of this. More ToP. I will not educate you on them because I know ppl already have, lol, always. But yes I loved this reaction because you got it. So stay on them.
One of my favorite songs from them - you should watch their live performance of this song at Fox Theater on your own time- amazing All their songs have deeper meanings mixed with crazy beats - Tyler produces it all so they make and write all their own music - you'll never catch all the meaning on the first listen but that's what makes them great is their songs never get old because you can always catch something new Id say check out: Ode to Sleep Lane Boy Migraine
Late af with my comment but just watched this off the back of the Em reactions! Tøp and Em - my 2 fav artists and just to echo this comment ^ the live version of this at Fox Theatre is OUTSTANDING! Gets me every single time!!!! In fact, the whole Fox Theatre show was a masterpiece! Best live band I’ve ever seen - and I’ve been to 300-400 gigs over the years! (I’m mid 40’s now and was involved in music throughout my late teens and 20’s).
They are an amazing band. You should play more of their music. They sing a lot about depression and the fight against the music industry trying to dim their artistry as musicians but they do what they want.
I absolutely love this song. You can’t go wrong with these two guys! Best concert I’ve ever seen. Just old fashioned hard work to get these guys here. I think you would like Ode to Sleep, Lane Boy, and Heathens if you want to delve into this band more. Twenty One Pilots fans are hardcore for these guys. So genuine and they write, produce, sing, and perform multi instruments. It’s truly Tyler’s vision...and he still creates their albums in his basement in Ohio.
Are used to have about 25 people I watch doing reactions I’ve gone down to four people and you were one of them keep up the great work and love what you do in the contents that you bring us love it keep it up brother I’m a six-year-old white man in West Point Mississippi
They jump around in genre but they always are SAYING something in such a creative way. I really think you’d enjoy a lot of their music. Lane boy is a good one. Talking about the music industry and doing your own thing. And if you want to appreciate his rap skill listen to either heavydirtysoul or levitate.
Twenty One Pilots have a huge and loyal fanbase, collectively known as The Clique. If you start reacting to more TØP videos, you’ll get a lot of new subs, because we can’t seem to get enough and don’t want to miss a single video. On an unrelated note, I just subbed. 😁
Please check out Grey Daze, the first band of Chester Bennington before joining Linkin Park. You will be amazed how talented was Chester even that time, he was 17 when their first album was released. They remastered some of their old songs from their 1994 and 1997 albums as they couldn’t get a chance to re-record them, so the vocals of Chester from 94 and 96 are used with new instruments. Songs to check out from Grey Daze are Soul Song (original music video is directed and acted by Chester’s eldest son Jaime to to reveal his connection with his dad), Moire Sky, B12 (Written by 12 year old Chester) and Sickness. You won’t be disappointed ❤️
Subscribed! I've always interpreted the people with the skull paint to be Tyler's negative thoughts trying to take him over, but he fights hard enough to break the noose and defeats them. However, I never thought about the change in camera angle like you did, and that is an excellent point! If you'll check out more TOP, please do their song "Migraine" 😁😁
For so long I took these guys as just some pop band making funky songs for the masses... It was cool cause my kids liked it, I liked it, everyone liked... Then I really started listening to the lyrics and Tyler is on some next level shit... Love ya bro, love ya channel but you've gotta really pick apart these lyrics... It's hard cause it's so pleasingly sonically you get lost in the vibe but I'm telling you they are on some other shit that will blow your mind... Checkout the masterpiece "Neon Gravestones" the writing in this is genius...
