Ah, goes exactly like a Grasshopper should ;) I've always liked the Grasshopper, might get myself one in a few months if I can afford it. Great looking buggy, great little video, look forward to the next ones!!
It does indeed Barry , and it’s a good looker as well. Hope you get one as I think there very cool , I was out earlier tonight driving it about again. Many thanks as always for the support
Hi Adam I love these things ! Yes if I’m Using a lot on bumpy ground I’ll change the oil but I’m gonna see how it goes indoors when I race it, then I’ll decide. Thanks for watching ;)
Nice one Andy! mine is still in its box l am feeling a bit lazy but l did get as far as showing it on the Tamiyaclub but you have given me the kick up the backside to get it built!👍 Yours looks great buddy and sorry l did nick your idea and have some orange wheel nuts too😉 I love the look of this version l must say and running it looked quite grounded apart from the usual solid rear axle bounce thing going on! The Hopper effect l surpose we could call that😁 But the front seemed decent! Can't wait to build mine now and get it to the beach! Great vid mate👍Cheers James
Hi James , thanks as ever for your support, have fun building yours up, I love mine, no worries on the wheel nuts it’s a must ;) hope you get to the beach soon to give it a blast 💥 take care my friend
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 Cheers Andy and keep up the great stuff mate and will start the build today 😁👍 I wouldn't bother with brushless its just silly in a hopper! That grass was thick so probably seemed a bit slower because of that! I find a 18t or 21t brushed pleanty for hoppers but your club has a standard silver can rule l surpose! But if you race on carpet or hard floor l bet the Black special will fly!👍 It will look great that's for sure!
Hi Nick, good choice I really liked these slot if only just for the body and wheels, also the fact it comes with oil cva’s is a bonus as well. Enjoy your build :)
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 I've actually gone for the standard Grasshopper II and not the black edition as I also wanted to do my first 4WD Tamiya build this winter so I also bought myself a Plasma Edge II Gun Metal Edition and I needed to save a few quid for the necessary upgrades for it - turnbuckles, oil shocks, metal drive shaft and cups, etc. Hoppers are always about fun and not about speed or bling but the 4WD is going to be one of those speed and bling things.
Sup Andy!! Just got my own GrasshopperII Black edition, but haven't built it yet. Can you recommend the best weight shock fluid for this buggy? I was also wondering - do you think brushless motors are too much power for this buggy?
Hiya Guy. Realistically it won’t make to much difference what oil you put in it due to its design if any thing I’d go slightly softer on the rear than the Tamiya kit oil maybe 30wt oil as I think kit Tamiya is about 35/40wt oil. The gearbox will happily take brushless motors as there near bombproof but the chassis itself won’t although you could get away with a 21.5bl motor . I just ran a Tamiya torque tuned motor or sport tuned in mine and found that more than enough . Hope that helps fella
Hi Andy, niiiiiiiiiiice video, you could soften up the rear shocks by drilling another hole in the shock piston, or enlarge the holes already there by 1mm and try that. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
Hi Mikey , if you want to alter the pistons on this you need to change out the shock shafts as they have a fixed metal head on these ones , I’d probably just put some softer oil in tbh, as it’s only a grasshopper for fun🤩 many thanks for watching :)
Nice video mate👍 Been looking to buy one of these GHll buggies eventually and would likely get a 540 motor as well but was wondering does the larger motor rub on the rear shocks much and if so does if effect them negatively at all? Subscribed also👍
Hi Lee , if you can quite happily run a 549 can motor in them with no worries and if it does rub it only catches the spring and it’s minimal really and won’t affect the running in anyway
I’ll split the difference with you and say the shocks off the black edition dt03 or the fighter rx memorial as they are darker but not black , but I like them ;) cheers for watching
Hi Andy good vid .got my zd pretty OK for first one but I love nostalgia. So I'll b looking for a niccolo from 90s. Can't remember pacific name but will recognise when see it but haven't on ebay. Tnx good vid
Hi there , cheers for commenting, I can imagine that your GHopper is quick with that motor in, they are so light weight with even a mild modified motor they are very quick
Hi Brad before you do try it with the motor it maybe just about ok, I forgot the motor limit and used a 21t with that esc and it did work although performance was down a bit, but don’t spend unless you have to
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 Well Andy I need it to be faster than my hornet my hornet has a GT tuned in it and then you GT has 400 more RPM in it so I don't want any loss of power there's a method to my madness some cars I want faster than others and others lower than others.

Hi Guy, Tamiya did make a black edition Of the original GH it came with white springs and fluorescent yellow wheels etc If you go through my video you’ll find a video on it ;)
Hi Roger, no, personally I decided not to paint it I didn’t think it was worth painting the plastic seemed good enough to put the decals straight on, also I didn’t think it was worth spending about an extra £10 to paint a black shell black. Hope that helps :)
Hi Andy! My friend, I think that looks a little slow tbh ? Maybe you need a larger pinion gear ? It just looks a little slower than what I would normally expect from a standard GH2 fitted with a 540 silver can ?? personally I would just buy one of those dirt cheap brushless ESC/motor combos for about £30, and a cheap Lipo and it would transform it speeds wise! Again personally, Aesthetically speaking, I think it’s one of the most beautiful Rc cars I’ve ever seen!? The colour(s) make it look so damn cool impo mate!? I definitely want one after seeing yours in this vid! Thanks for another awesome vid Andy! I been away from YT a couple weeks so it’s great to be back my friend! 💯👍 Wes, Liverpool UK
Hi Wes yes I though it looked a little slow but I could be imagining it, it may just be not a great 540 motor but it was new out of another kit. I’m keeping it with a 540 for the ta img class we have at Blackpool rc club, where the only upgrades are .540 can and bearings. Other than that I love it and it’s looks cool. Hope you manage to get one fella. Cheers for your support as ever ;) take care
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 oohh ok I understand mate. Hey, you’ll have such a great time racing it at that new club mate! If possible please ask a friend to record a bit of the racing with your GH2 Black and/or any other ex cars you race please mate ? That GH2 Black will look awesome in a race!! 🔥🤩👍
Cheers for the comment , I only tend to run these with 540’s mainly because we race them at the local rc club and it’s a low cost class with only bearings and 540 silver can upgrades allowed everything else is from the kit. Cheers :)

Thanks Bob, as you say great little buggy’s to play about with and you can pretty much shove them in a bag and off you go :) cheers fella

I noticed with the fighter buggy RX memorial edition let the plastic has gotten stronger and it's takes more Force to put the screws in them.
Yes I think in some cases your right , as I really struggled with the servo mounts in the grasshopper
