I always thought Boris having a dilemma pop up like Eltharion giving him the choice of staying in the Chaos Wastes with some big bonuses or being moved to Praag would be a great idea
Seems like a legitimately good idea for this start, but I wish that his non-Kislev start location wasn't where it is. CA clearly wanted to split up at least one of the Kislev LLs but I don't think Kislev as a faction can really pull that off with their current roster in the early game; they don't have a well-rounded roster until they get to T4 unlike all other races that have non-homeland starts.
@@TheBoxGhost_tm agreed. I tried to stay up in the chaos wastes on vh/h and their lack of armor piercing made facing Archaon's doomstacks such a pain. I actually went down and invaded the darklands and it was a much easier time.
Been messing with the mod that lets you change starting settlement, and Praag is a good spot for Boris.
Holy hell it is okoii
boris has such a good starting army you can just cross the sea and take the settlemt there so you border allies and then push around to orc land@@TheBoxGhost_tm
That short guide to moving Boris to Kislev just sounds like a wholesome story of a father reuniting with his daughter :)
but its hard to confederate him when we play as Katarin. AI always want go to the north and destroyed after 20 turns
@@NessNguyen-jy2jw The father's ambition is too destructive and to the daughter he is already too far gone
@@NessNguyen-jy2jw who's the "we"
@@poolsofbloodinyourstomach People who play as Katarin and want to confed Boris. You didnt read the full comment?

Legend redo the old ones into the new format. Everyone is hoping for this=)
Looking at Grimgore for this, considering that campaign has really been changed up by the introduction of the Chorfs. There's probably a few others that need to be taken into acount aswell as they'll have to deal with Chorfs early on, like Azhag and Ungrim.
Ah just wrote the same comment)
Yeah would be cool to go over the old 2-3 min videos
could be nice to update the ones who are near chaos dwarves too
Funny how if you sail away from your starting province and invade immediately Throt and the other minor norscan factions around, Boris campaign instantly becomes the best - and strongest - Kislev campaign.
Boomer Ethernal
It’s fine in the chaos wastes honestly. Boris has the best auto resolve results in the entire game when fighting Daemons. I can auto resolve so many battles that I can’t even beat them manually. I could auto a full archeon army with a garrison without taking much damage
@@awsomeman350 you're playing on easy - hard then. Try this on very hard or legendary
@@Morris_Minor nope, very hard/ very hard. Boris has broken auto resolve
@@Morris_Minor The War Bear rider he starts with have insane auto resolve, they will always kill 400+ by themselves in auto resolve. Even on hard/very hard they carry him insanely.
These later campaign reviews are so much better and more informative than the 2-3 minute ones from early in the series. Honestly makes the old ones feel lacking.
Just changing it so all of Boris's lords have a large reduction in chaos attrition would make this campaign so much better. I lucked out and managed to kill Archaon early and have his and that Tzeentch faction's area under my control but only Boris can move freely. My other 3 armies are either settlement hopping or encamping all the time
They should have made the immunity to chaos corruption a factionwide ability and not a lord ability
I really appreciated the whole series my one gripe is you can notice a total difference from the first in the series to the latest and that is perfectly fine. The difference being that you go super in depth in the latest ones and I love that! Going over the starting enemies any trick starts, unquie faction mechanics, legendary lord traits, quest items, etc. However the first few in the series completely lack that. It might be tedious to revisit several but I wish that all videos in the series shared this length / in depth ness.
Who wants to see the old shorter guides in 10 minute formats like this one?
I've loved these campaign reviews! Pretty bummed that the series is over now. Honestly, these informational/tutorial videos are my favorite on the channel
My first IM campaign was Boris in co-op with my friend as Ice Court and I stayed up there and it was the most fun campaign I had in WH3
What difficulty were you on?
Same. Except my friend was the High Elves no where near me. Archaeon showed up really early and I just assumed it was game over. I’m not sure if he actually made it to me before quitting.
Great reveiw! I find all Kislev factions to be pretty challenging to begin with but Boris is by far the hardest. Any chance you could re-do Grimgor's reveiw? His situation has changed drastically and his campaign is a lot more fun with the chorfs to fight.
People were claiming Katharin is harder because Boris "only has to fight on 2 fronts".
@@dmitriyk.2890 Boris is so strong I don’t get it. He has broken auto resolve and you can auto every single battle you fight
@@awsomeman350 yep, but Boris cannot be everywhere. You normally have to fight on 2-3 fronts and have so many enemies that while you catch one, someone else attack you from another place. If you decide to conquer chaos wastes of course. Plus other kislevites die early unless you rush to help them. And you have no access to Kislev key cities from the start for techs.
For the life of me I don't understand why people Auto Resolve so much. The manual combat is what makes this game worth the asking price. There are better civ builders out there.
@@jadenfalcon6260 can’t talk for everyone but for work I only get 2/3 hours a week max to play, don’t want to spend all that fighting minor battles when I can focus on expansion etc
I would love to see you do an updated version of some of the early campaign review videos that are only a couple of minutes long. I really like these, and I feel like you have a lot more good info that we could have benefited from, that didn't make it into the 3-5 minute videos. Cheers!
Thanks for the series Legend. All the talk of trick starts made me think of what tools I can use to extend my influence and approach situations differently. I'm playing my first Katarin campaign right now and have a pretty consistent 3 turn solution to dealing with the starting enemy thanks to your insight elsewhere, even if the Katarin video itself was from the early days and more sparse as a result. Keep doing what you're doing, it's great.
Loved this series. It really helped me branch out into other LL's from factions I wouldn't know how to properly start with.
Thank you so much.
This series has been GREAT! Also appreciate the starting advise as I’ve missed the “first 5 turn” guides..
Well done legend!
Thanks for going through all of these! It's been really helpful for picking and choosing my more recent campaigns in IE. Looking forward to the disaster battles to come!
Me personally appreciate your efforts in making these guides and clarification of the best ways to play the campaigns. Your a legend no doubt.
Another thing to note about choosing the more challenging path north: because Boris has the same tech tree as the other 2 Kislev factions, you will never get access to 1/2 of your tech tree. Or you could install a mod that removes the very stupid restrictions on the tech tree.
I've just recently been playing a Boris campaign, and first hand experienced everything you mentioned here. It occured to me midway through that I should have just emigrated to Kislev, but by then I was too deep in. It took me almost 140 turns to be able to reach Kislev as I got sidetracked going all the way to Cathay.
Awesome end to the series! Would be cool to really end this off to rank the top 5 and bottom 5 campaigns in your opinion! Ranking all of them would be a headache but just those ten would be a lot more manageable lol.
Wonderful series legend. I'll miss it! Yet I'm excited for what comes next
Thanks for the series. Wish you the best legend. Also congrats on making all the way through the current content on valheim without dying.
Loved this series legend. I’m nearly always revisiting these whenever I start a new campaign.
As others have said, I would like to see you update/redo the first 5-10 videos to this level of detail.
Loved this series! I’m glad you saw it through to the end !
Thanks for the series legend! Next time I start a new campaign and can’t pick, I think I’ll just shuffle through your review playlist to help pick
I have been waiting for this one for a while, excited to see what you do
Such a cool video series. Looked forward to a new video popping up every day!
Genuinely one of my favourite series on youtube in a very long time. Brilliant idea and your attitude throughout it was very enjoyable. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but you sounded much less frustrated than in some past videos. Hope CA one day becomes the developer you think they could be.
The first faction my gf picked in WH3 was Boris, I went Tzarina with her, we got her Praag as her "capital" and took Hellpit early too to extinct clan moulder. From there it was pretty clean expending south/southwest to take the cities around brass keep, then Castle temple & Drakenhoff. Then its peacefull border with Reikland /Gelt & with Blue & Red dwarves, the only southern neighbours to share borders with us. Before northern expansion.
Congrats on doing all the campaing starts! It's being super helpfull and I'm sure it took a lot of work!
Good review and congrats on getting through all the LLs!
Love ya legend! This series is great and something I would suggest to any of my friends who I wanna get into warhammer, I think it’ll be cool to get back to doomstacks and whatnot and am excited to see!
Phenomenal series, thanks so much!!!
Aww I am slightly sad I won’t be seeing these pop up anymore :( but thank you for doing all this Legend, thoroughly enjoyed them and always looked forward to the next❤️
Really enjoyed this series great stuff keep up the great work
Really liked this serie, thanks for the great content!
Great series.
Boris is my fav. Difficult but fun.
I never thought about abandoning Chaos Wastes thought. Looks like i need to check it out now ;)
Thanks for this very informative series Legend !
Some great advice on this one Legend, for both veteran and newer players. Thanks!
you did a great job man.
good luck with disaster battles 😁👍
Game: starts you out with an easy enemy to kill
LoTW: this is actually a trap
Great series legend! I was wondering if you could do short guides on other topics, like how to level up your lords properly and basic tactics. Cheers!
Really good serie, quality conted, hope you have more idea's like it 😁👍🏻
Nice video. Starting my Boris campaign now!
One thing I like to do in this campaign is beeline straight to Archeon and take him out before he gets strong as he's such a pain to deal with later on. He's still not easy to take out early, but it makes cleaning out the chaos wastes much easier and gives me more time to save Katarin from her norscan/rat/orc/wood elf/Festus problem she inevitably gets rampaging through the homeland
thanks for the series, i definitely looking forward to try some new lords !
Hey Legend, great series. Hadn't played the game since release, but watching these brought me back. Saying that, you've done brief summaries of how to start, but what're your opinions of a similar series format but for the first 5 turns of your favorite, or every legendary lord?
so sad this series is over, was loving this. please keep it going when new lords are released.
Already over, waow… that’s unfortunate, I liked the campaign reviews, great serie & very useful as well. Thx for the content legend !
Need a new concept then I guess lol
ASAP 😜
these were great vids. Thanks Legend.
It makes me sad this is the last one. I look forward to watching these at the start of my day every day. Nice to have a little fantasy fun to think about before the necessities of life sweep me away!
Legendary series! Much appreciated. 🙂
I think this was a great plan. I enjoyed the content and it was a great break. Now I’m ready for doomstacks and disaster battles.
Been a fun series mate, cheers!
Great series legend. Thank you.
Recommendation to wrap up this (excellent!) series: Do at least one Tier List!
- Tier List of campaigns by fun level
- Tier List of campaigns by difficulty level on Legendary
- Tier List of campaigns by trickiest trick start
Also consider going back and doing some of the super-short 2-minute entries in more detail. I personally think 10 minutes is just a tad much for these, but the later longer ones were a lot more interesting than the 2-minute videos. There's no way I'll ever have the free time to go through 60+ WH3 games, so this was a great way to learn more about how more of the lords work.
Great series. Thanks Legend.
Thanks for a great series
Excellent series!
Great video!
What a great series! First thing I watched practically every day for the last couple months. Would you consoder revisiting Grimgor since his campaign was probably the most significantly impacted ny the introduction of the Chaos Dwarfs?
I have always hoped that this series was leading up to another set of IE tier lists. LL tier list, campaign tier list, faction tier list, etc all for immortal empires. One can wish
Hey Legend really enjoyed the series, hope you bring it back with future dlc!
My wife just showed me the strange old Who song “Boris is the Spider,” and I hear it every time you say Boris. He was my favorite campaign as War Bear Calvary just tickled all my fancies.
Really enjoyed this series
Great series thanks
That's for the series, Legend. It's made me reconsider some legendary lords that I usually pass over.
Never tried Boris. With your Suggestions it sounds very good. I'd love to see you play a Boris Campaign
Boris' campaign for me is the ultimate survival campaign in the game, and i tend to enjoy it a lot, no matter if I stay in the Chaos wastes, or not. Maybe because I love Kislev, but this campaign is geniuenly fun for me. Boris has a lot of potential, but it takes some time to use that. Until then it's pretty much survival strategy game, a great one because with great challenge comes great reward.
Thx 4 the vid mate 😊
Shame to see the series end. Especially since the EARLIER lords reviewed didn`t get some of the same attention as the laters ones...that also kind of included mini-guides and such.
Wouldn`t mind seeing this revisited sometimes in the future for highly requested or updated lords/factions...
MY first ever campaign in IE was boris, I eliminated Archeon on turn 18 and daniel on 33 and stayed in the choas wastes the entire time until turn 40 or so before hellpit was left completely undefended and I took kislev back. I was a kislev main before IE because BEARS and I wanted this start position so badly and could not have been happier when it was announced this way. I think its such a lore friendly and fun start. (Very Hard/Very Hard honest man, and Boris was even killed on turn 8 and I didn't start over because it was a mutual assassination with Archeon dieing in the same battle, also before Boris was given seige attacker in the patch that every LL got it) all that said I found some screenshots where I only had 24 settlements and was str ranking 14 on turn 84
Love your content
Loved this series!
One of the biggest beneficiaries of the new patch is Greasus Goldtooth. Two starting settlements, better distribution of the provinces, Ironguts buff (which I take from his main army), Crushers buff. It's like you are accelerated by 100% early.
Going by the title alone, I'm glad it's not just me. I've been trying to start a Kislev campaign to try Ulrika out and I feel like none of them have good start positions. Boris made me feel like I never played the game before with how horrible it was all working out
Boris is super fun to play and I have played him twice in completely different ways. My first time I did what u suggested and b-lined for Prague and then took over that north east and norsca and then confederated everyone. The second time I decided to murder chaos and hold just the starting province and then just razed and sacked all the chaos legendary lords with just a 20 stack on Boris. You will have super negative income but you fight so much I had 80k at turn 40. So as opposed to trying to occupy the chaos wastes I just removed its inhabitants and it was super fun!
thx for the cool series
I needed this guide few weeks ago after struggling the first 30 turns of his campaign lol but yeah it's way better to make your way to Prague first. Besides that, are there any good mods that go along with this campaign ? I've only tried Greater kislev and dead's kislev
Weird, because Boris has absolutely insane auto resolve. I autoresolved a archaon in a major settlement, with a half stack of CW units next to him. I literally couldn’t beat that fight manually but I only lost a few kossars when I auto resolved it. And that trend continues, I don’t need to fight almost any battle as Boris
yo the exact same happened to me
@uNnHkP8mza yes, but a lot of other factions suffer because of it. All I’m saying is that Boris is the strongest lord in the game in auto resolve, at least early game
War bear riders have insane *combat potential* (autoresolve value basically) not Boris himself
@@precious0_0 no it happened only once in the same occurrence the dude said, AR gave me an heroic victory while attacking archaon full stack on his capital. rest of autoresolves were normal
@@precious0_0 they do, but Boris increases melee attack and leadership for his units, even if they never use that in battle it still effects auto resolve
Hmm. I'm going to try the Praag method, but leave the Chaos Wastes method to try at a later time as a big challenge. Sounds like a fun time
Good series. Need tier lists now and pokemon campaign guides
Since the first Immortal Empires campaign review videos were much shorter (around 3 minutes instead of 10), are there any campaigns you reviewed early in the series which have trick starts which you didn't address, such as perhaps Imrik?
Need the old videos redone, love this
I tried sticking to the choas wastes in my first attmept and was declared war on and had 20 stacks coming from both north and south while i could only afford 1 army of just mostly archers, whereas AI had regiments of renown, mortars etc.
Watched this video and tried to follow the advice so went south. Saw Throt already had 4 armies, a 20 stack, 18 stack and 2 lords by themselves sat outside his capital with a 17 garrison so decided against that as it was again just archers until several turns later. Went a little south to get more of the province but Throgg was coming in from north with 2 stacks, another skaven to the south declared war on me instantly with 2 stacks and so did the choas dwarfs and they came in with a full stack.
Fells like every single faction wants to declare war on you, also you can't recruit anything higher than a archer until you get settlement level 2 and barracks level 2 by which time the AI have multiple stacks with heavy armour. I feel just having a starting city would help so much.
Campaign objectives include killing Archaeon. The sooner that happens the easier Boris campaign becomes. Boris is BY FAR my favorite campaign, and I typically take the starting province and then destroy Archaeon by turn 10-12. From that point basically all pressure is gone and you can do what you want.
@legendoftotalwar do you have to play realm of chaos to unlock Boris or can you unlock him in immortal empires as well?
I completely agree. I got rolled when I tried staying in the northern wastes....fun but rough.
Yeah Archaon is hard to deal in legendary I struggled hard to defeat him in my campaign, getting sandwiched with him and Daniel and the slannesh subfaction. We, Archaon and I, ended by trading our inital starting province, I took his fortress, he took all my starting province. I pushed east after taking him down, because every chaos factions declares war on me. I pushed all the way to vilitch, form alliance with cathay that at that time was almost destroy by Lokhir and also Snicktchh. I found that campaign was hard but I didn't expect that I will go to the Cathay side so it was fun for me at the end.
That's like really handy you can just pick up shop and move to a more desired territory, I haven't really thought about doing that and just fight it out in my campaigns, good tactic.
archeon is hard to take out but if you ambush him (which you can cause he moves around quite a lot), you can win the fight against him despite his regiments of renoun
I would say that Boris is indeed hardest starts, and migrating to norscans seems like stronger option, the Boris's AR is insane!, especially if you go red line buffs early on. Any chaos armies 1v1 with Boris always lose, and you can wipe out Archaon's army with AR easily, so you get decent trait to progress after. Although Nurglite faction is annoying, kossar stack counters this significantly. So early on you get almost no economy since you need basically 3 stacks to go all directions, but later down the track you can meet and confederate Ropsmenn clan, and if you manage to get Praag tier 5, this is basically win for you because of landmark that gives -2 global recruitment time. With tech that gives additional -1 you get 1 turn recruit globally of every unit besides elemental bear(which is not good imho). Really fun start.
I think this really only applies to very hard or legendary difficulty. You can auto resolve Archaeon's army on normal with Boris' starting army filled up with Kossars. A half stack holds the Tzeentch faction at bay from the minor Khorne factions former capital. The most annoying part for me was the whack a mole with the Skaven to the east.
@LegendofTotalWar Hey Legend, i rly liked this series, because I value very high your expertise (that's why I also like your tier lists). Could you make more videos with condensed knowledge? I would like to see your thoughts about chaos dwarfs defeat traits, their units tier list or video about most valuable lord/hero traits (it could be series across all races).
I cant' be the only one who had an aha moment and immediately fired up a Boris campaign to go do exactly what Legend suggests. I never wanted to play Boris before for exactly the reasons he explains, being up there sucks just constant misery between daemons and Warriors of Chaos. This actually makes the campaign manageable and puts you in one of Kislev's big 3 capitals.
thanks for the series Legend!
Would you go over the chaos dwarfs dread motors tactics? I am trying to figure them out since they don't act like regulars artillery.
You ended the Legendary lords campaigns reviews, happy for you.
Now do it to the *modded Legendary Lords.*
The best part was the Patriarch yelling. "Repent. REPEEEENT!" I agree.
I found staying in the chaos wastes way easier than going back to kislev. The only difficulty is archaeon, but you fight him anyways in kislev. Piled on by Bak Bak, Thrott, Throgg, Wulfric and the other Norscans just isn't fun on that coast.
Since doomstacks are more of a novelty or just for fun in Warhammer 3, I would love to see a "rate your shit stack series" with mainly t1/ t2 units
