    We don't add cummin seeds, and instead of lime juice we add raw mango, if it is not available we crush a piece of tamarind with coconut....

    Daily food in Sri Lanka.no oil added. Some times tempered with mustard and Curry leaves. You can add tomotoes too. Goes well with Rice, Rotis and fresh bread.

    I would add some garlic, ginger and saute everything in coconut oil along with the chilie, onion, cummin and grated coconut prior to paste it and finish it with a twist of lime.

    If you make this sambal/chammathi from Kerala with like bit of grainy texture and temper with mustard seed and curry leaves,this one really go well with as side dish for appam ,my mom used to make that nice vid❤

    How did this sambal word come across to Malaysia and Singapore? Which country is the origin of sambal making? Here in malaysia and Singapore 'nasi lemak with sambal ikan bilis' (coconut rice with anchovies sambal) is a very famous food for all the time. May i know which country is cooking the same coconut rice and anchovy sambal?

    This is our daily food in Sri Lanka. Everything is exactly same but we only add fennel seeds not cumin seeds. Also we never eat with rice. it goes with dosa, roti or bread 😋

    In Shaa Allah : next time try to make this and see how ;
    1) more than 10 small onions
    2) 3 chillies
    4) small size of Tamarind
    5) a bit of salt
    Put it altogether in a bowl and squeeze it well. Then you try it with chicken or mutton curry and also try it with sambar satham, you'll be amazed at how tasty it is 😋👍
