Currently Astor Base variant is changed to Sprint. I have few questions w.r.to it.
1. U bought the accessories worth 25k from MG. Instead of that, do we get these MG branded accessories after the market for less price?
2. Do we need to go for Teflon ? Is it mandatory to do it from dealer ?
3. Did u do any ceramic coasting after wards ? Yes, please share further details like the cost, no of layers type of material used for it, company details.
4. Aslo did u select MG shield to which provides various services like RSA and unlimited kms for 3 yrs etc. Which one do u prefer 3yrs or 5yrs ?
5. Is it possible to install the fog lamps in base variant? Do let me know if u have any details.
6. I checked with dealer on upgrading the wheels to 17 inches with alloy wheels. How to handle the odometer as it will show deviation in speed and rotations per min as tyre size is increased ? Is there any way to handle it ?

1. U bought the accessories worth 25k from MG. Instead of that, do we get these MG branded accessories after the market for less price?
Out of 25K, around 10K was for Seat Cover. Which i really like, even after an year. These are great and exactly matched with interior. And when i got my Astor in Sep 2022, very few Astor was there due to Silicon chip issue. No much was available in after market. Moreover, other accessories are not very expensive with the quality you are getting. and i am saying it after 1.5 year of usage.
2. Do we need to go for Teflon ? Is it mandatory to do it from dealer ?
Nothing is mandatory to take from dealer. I did not even take insurance from dealer.
3. Did u do any ceramic coasting after wards ? Yes, please share further details like the cost, no of layers type of material used for it, company details.
I did not use any ceramic coating. Actually, i did not take anything after moving out of showroom. And everything is still top notch.

I will say, it is upto you. I did not feel taking it. Batter spends in Insurance with zero depreciation and other benefit.

I tried that time, when i got reverse parking camera installed. That time it was not available in after market.

No issues, they are professional. They will handle it. As in higher model by default there are 17 inch tyres.

Agar rear speakers ka video bana sakte hai to acha hoga....Bina existing wire to cut kiye......if you can upload that video it will be great
For rear speaker will need a connector which is also used in reverse parking camera installation. Check the video from 3:00-3:08.
Now i can install rear speakers easily as i already got the wiring setup.

It is like a multiplug. It is used to connect both rear speakers and back camera to the system. And it is fully integrated to the system. There is no wire cutting in the process

Thanks bro for the informative video. Need help with a query. The showroom person said, if we install after market rear camera since we are changing the electric connections of the car, the insurance will not be available for the car. Is it true ? What’s your opinion ?
No that's not true. And existing wiring is not touched. And there will be no issue in insurance and even warrenty.
These are the questions, if you ask the dealer they will never say 'go ahead and do it'. Else 80% of india's car will loose warrenty and insurance 😀
My seat cover, dashcam and wireless charger were installed by showroom after i installed Reverse Parking Camera. They didn't even said anything.

Lot of mg astor owners in comments here. I have a query. The base model. Is it having pickup problem. Like late pickup and underpowered feel hoti hai kya?
I don't feel issue in PickUp, but i feel underpowered when you ride on Steep road. You can take Test Drive and see it.
As per me, if you are taking MG Astor, then you are trading High build quality, features against the Power. Decide what you prefer.

Hello sir , m planning to buy Astor, only doubt is related to it's mileage. Could you please share the mileage ur getting in city, highway, traffic .. would help me
Citi milage in heavy traffic goes to 8 with AC on and 10-11 without AC and highway you get around 16-18 with ac on and 20 without ac. You can check my mileage videos in city, or highaway. Overall my accumulated mileage is 11 now after 2k km , i always keep ac on. Hoping to get better as i just completed 2nd service.
But i already knew, but other cars will give 13-14 , but i got this car with this features in 1.5 l less. So i guess its worth it.
And ownership experience is great, everyone treats you as tou bought a 20 l car, and they definitely look back when you drive. As MG Astor are less in market and interior at this price is superb.
So choice is your, between mileage or ownership experience.

No, I recently claimed the insurance after a dent and scratch occurred. And I found no issue while doing the claim via Acko insurance.

I am also from Pune and have booked Style varient and Grand vitara sigma (base) . Taken the test drive of Astor and liked it. Only confused in mileage. As most of reviews claims mileage of astor is not good. Can you please tell me more on this?
It would be too early for me to tell the mileage. But it all depends on driving. There are many people who told me that they are getting good mileage on Astor.
I am sure it can't compete with Grand Vitara. But i had to choose between Safety and Mileage. I chose Safety. And however Astor will not give that bad..i drove 100km so far purely in Pune rainy Traffic and i am getting 12 easily. Which i hope will get better only with time.
If you want take MG, Astor is the model with highest mileage among all other MG models

And moreover ownership experience is great. Everyone treat you like you got a high end car.
I drove Maruti for 11 years, so i have chosen different this time, and so far i am loving it.
If you drive mostly in city condition then best option for you is go for hybrid. as in city conditions hybrid re-gen works fabulously & give better milage then even CNG on the other hand don't expect more than 12kmpl from Mg Astor in city driving conditions with Ac (10kmpl in bumper to bumper & up to 13kmpl in minimal traffic conditions)
& For highways vitara as well as Astor will give you similar performance & milage as per you're driving habits
Secondly, it's up to you if you want premium quality & top notch fit and finish - Astor or grand vitara with maruti part sharing across the range swift to grand vitara like same door handles definitely Maruti improved it's sheet metal strength as it get thicker now but not as good as MG Astor. Build quality
Lastly it's upto the pricing at what it will cost you on road vitara vs Astor

Astor is a good car no doubt but if u compare it with grand vitara then winner will be grand vitara as marutis after sales service ,availability of grand vitara models as maruti is manufacturing it in wide numbers u can easily fine maruti showroom and service centers as well and ull get good deal on vitara as compare to astor
In highway Astor gives me around 18-20 kmpl without AC

I too was apprehensive about it. But went ahead as at this price what you are getting is already atleast 1.5 l cheaper than competitors. Plus the safety and build quality, i didn't wanted to compromise at any cost.
I drove almost 160 km in Pune rainy season heavy traffic in first week and it gave me around 12km/l . Which i believe, will get better over time and after service.
And to my experience, i can tell you ownership experience is great. Everyone around you will ask about it. I drove maruti for 11 years and now i can sense the experience i am getting.
In city don't expect above 12kmpl with ac & on highways if u drive 90-95 it will give 18kmpl & if 70-75 then 20+ kmpl easily ( ac 22° )

1. Fog lamp are not available for Astor in after market so far. I inquired and they said if it comes it will be around 4-4.5k.
2. Alloy wheel will be around 28k but in Style there are 16" tyre so you probably would have to change the tyre to 17" . So even if you return tyre and steel rim with mg dealer. It may cost you around 40+

Bro... What about Hill climbing or having enough power to drive on hilly areas with Style variant?? There are videos saying with Astor manual transmissions very hard drive through hilly roads seems... Can u plz reply ur experience.. About the power... Having confusion about Style EX and Vitara Sigma.. I like Astor in build quality but vitara sigma has milege.. Confuse about this!!
I drove around Lonavala ghat, and found no issue. Yes there is a power lag at sometime, for that they have turbo varient. Grand vitara definitely have mileage advantage.
But ownership experience of MG is great. I had maruti for 10 years but with MG people will turn around and will ask about it. Whether outside or they sit inside. Build quality is great with MG and interior is top class. Ao at this price if you need mileage, go for Vitara else for anything else MG Astor is great choice.
I have been to kashmir and drove almost 500 kms in high climb areas. The car drove so smoothly and didn't found power lag
Very high power lag in hilly areas. You should drive in first gear in hills.

No. I inquired about Fog lamps, but did not find any lead. I have asked the one where i got reverse parking camera installed, once fog lamp for mg astor available he will call me

Socket is there ..you can check video from 3:00 to 3:08 . In that there is wiring for rear speakers too. But not sure about front camera as i got Dash Cam installed. But not connected with infotainment system

Hey do you think in future if there is any kind of fault and if it goes to the mg service centre they will identify the tweek and claim your warranty to be null and void.
I don't think so. I already went for first service, and they didn't say anything. And moreover in india many do the outside modification so if that is the case many cars warrenty will get nullified. And there is competition in market, no company will do that.

Yes. Jo Infotainment system connector lagaya hai Reverse camere ke liye usme .rear speakers ki wiring additional hai..so ab mein rear speaker bhi lagwa sakta hu. Ye baat muje jo install kar raha tha usne batayi thi. Now i can relate when you confirmed.

Hi Bro, I bought Astor Style model, Im planning to integrate OEM rear view with camera. Have a doubt on this installation.
Question: Do we need to connect camera rear view wire(Red) to Car parking light(Tail lamp) while using OEM adapter ?
Connecting OEM adapter with camera and infotainment is enough to achieve rear view with dynamic guide lines rite?
Yes. That is exactly what the installation guy did in the video.

For other models, it can be done. But for Astor, i haven't heard. But i believe, not to touch existing driving features.

This the official claim. I ran almost 700km so far. In which 300km on highway. I got around 14 and in city pune rainy traffic i got around 10-11. And it all depends on driving too. I was driving with higher rpm than ,2k. But hope it will improve after service.
Having said that, i was aware abt the mileage. But Ownership experience is great. People around you treat that you got very expensive car. And it is really a good car with great build quality. You realise when you open/close door and boot. I was driving maruti for more than 10 years. But now with MG, i can sense the feel.
And at this budget, what you are getting,is already 1.5 l cheaper, so mileage should not be a very big issue.
I am very much satisfied.
