Richard. Started using ur loop knot on my ice fishing jigs. Man. That is the best secret anyone has ever given up. Vertical and horizontal ice jigs with ur loop knot r the best advice I have ever received for ice fishing. Thanks for giving me that final piece of advice for fishing through the ice! 👍👍

I believe you are the best crappie fisherman I've ever seen. Growing up in Florida, catching "speckled perch" we only caught them at dead and crescent lake in the narrows in January and February trolling live minnows. Since moving to Ga have learned to spider rig and fish at night with lights under 109 bridge at West point lake. Have some friends who pitch jigs to trees they have sunk. My aunt likes to use a jig pole with about 18 inches of line around stumps in dead lake. I've seen a bunch of ways, but you sir are becoming my all time favorite. Glad to have found your page.

Richard you have more knowledge of all kinds of our southern lakes, rivers,& creeks fishing. I practically lived on Chickamauga, creek as a teenager. Fishing till dark everyday catching loads of Rock bass & the creek bass you've been catching. You have so many great tips for us I can't thank God enough for giving you to us. I walked 2.5 to 3 miles up a mountain fed creek using the helgramites & caught more fish than I have caught in years. Just the sound of the rapids & the birds singing with not another person around. That is truly Gods therapy , Thanks so much

Richard - I'm a newbee, learning the knots. Your knot is praised by my fishing buddy. I loved the video, especially the "dental floss" secret. I'm a simple thinker with survivalist genes. I love what you've shown. I'll practice until my ages hands gets this. Don't worry about the carpentry hands. I'm glad I learned this from a "real" guy who's worked hard all his life. I'm an HVAC and Electrical guy. So Awesome!!! Thanks!

When I began doing the super glue/floss trick, its easier than I thought! Watching you do the changes to the jig and to the plastics body, I now try to get my jigs lighter by snipping the body off at the nose end to get a better looking jig. I'm finally getting my wife to believe in your abilities, but she still isn't watching any of your video's. But she isn't getting mad at me when I go to my desk and start working on making made ahead jigs for the boat. I think we will have a good year on the Tennessee River. Right now we've had almost 3" of rain in last 2 weeks. I hope that doesn't mess up the bedding this year. I love your video posts....and I can't wait or the next one. I stop what I'm doing just to watch and learn. Someday, I hope to see Elmo out on the boat with you.

I found this video over a year ago and I've been doing the jig with dental floss like Richard shows and I can catch a limit of crappie on a single Bobby Garland unless I break off.
I tie a different loop knot which lets the tag line point down instead of up so that it doesn't catch grass/ trash, I also straighten hook back and forth a few times to weaken it so it's easier to pull free when snagged.
A jig the way this video teaches is the single best tip for catching more crappie that I've ever heard, thank you RGTFM.

Mr Richard. Sitting here at home with our new baby girl. Watching crappies come in the boat and practicing that loop knot. Fished my entire life and have never seen it explained like that! Finally getting it looking good and down close to the eye of the hook. Now it it will quit rainin and snowing in NC I gotta get the boat rigged up. My grandpas 65 crest liner v bottom is gonna get decked out kinda like yours with the green carpet. And, hey...wooooo,wooo!

    Hey Richard,
Hats off to your hands. Shows a hard working and moral man.
I was thinking, that if you took a small syringe. A food grade on will work as long as it seals. You could inject a small (more more) air bubble into the bait. They would act the same as ballast and trim tanks on a submarine. Add air to the front to level your bait or make it surface running by adding more air.. Thanks for the lesson. :)
