  • I decided to compile all these mines into one video. This time out I explored the Peacock Mine, Sonny Boy Mine, and Arlington Mine of the Ruby Mining District, along with another Unknown Adit that I was unable to identify. Join along as I document what's accessible of the mines, as well as the equipment left behind at the Arlington Mill.
Note: I did not visit the First Thought, Last Chance, or 4th of July mines, as they are all privately owned according to the county auditor. The rest are on public lands, with the Peacock mine being the only active blm claim.

Nice job you did. Yes, that was the Arizona mine you first visited. The upper Arlington sure has fallen apart since we visited it for Northwest Underground Explorations back in late 90s, early 2000s. But it was fun to watch your exploration of it. Thanks.

Thanks. That’s one of the reasons I want to document them now, many of them will be inaccessible in the coming years. I appreciate all the exploration you guys did, it’s been a very helpful resource in my research.

Open stopes are one thing in the desert, but can you imagine trudging through the woods and just step into nothing?

This was a lot of exploration and hiking and good video. I can imagine how much effort went into all of this. I'm 61 and have arthritis so would have had to be at least 10-20 years ago that I hiked for any distance. No hills like those though. I do miss it so watching is a favorite pastime. 👍🏻

@@Off_Course_Explorations We live somewhat close by so we head out to the Ruby area quite often. My Grandpa mined Peacock mine back in the day so makes exploring mines more interesting.

Thats awesome brother. Keep up the amazing content. I love old mines but their arent to many left open in central utah i guard the few that i know of so they dont get closed up.

Thanks! I know it’s just a matter of time before all these are either closed up or collapsed, so I’m trying to document anything I can before they do.

That's awesome. I have been doing the same with the mines around Central Utah. Once they are gone they are gone forever it will be neat to have footage so when they are gone people can still have a virtual tour atleast. Stay safe out there and keep this awesome content coming. Catch you on the next one.

Love all your vids. Can you help me with one thing? It’s 1890 and you’re prospecting…what makes you decide to dig here and not somewhere else?

Thanks for watching. A tried a true method would be to pan your way up a creek, when the gold starts getting sparse again, start looking around the hillsides for a rock outcropping. Sometimes they’d just run across an outcropping with quartz showing and start picking away at it.
