It's a business stance, for Bill. Bill Gates has a Tesla short. Is the biggest private owner of farmland, something you need for bio fuels. He pushes carbon neutrality and bio fuels. From a valuation standpoint, the Semi isn’t a big mover. By the time it’s fully scaled, other things will take the lead. However, it has great meaning for the reputation of Tesla and will significantly change the cargo hauling industry. It will also have a big impact (reduction) on vehicle emissions.
I note from Herb's YT that it takes 7 CT battery to make 1 Semi ... simple maths suggest more profitable / economical to make CT > Semi (100k CT = 700k Semi?). Thoughts?

It’s not much Tesla sells that people think that can add a lot to the bottom line just selling vehicles and produces in North America , I had a feeling for years that the Semi would end up worldwide in some form ..
Tesla's achievements are astounding, but in order to bury Bill Gate's argument we must be able to make a 1:1 replacement for 100% of the use cases and yes we can do it. Eventually the tech improvements of the 4680 will enable to deliver the 500 mile range Cybertruck without the need of a range extender and without the need to make the battery too heavy. Same thing applies to the Tesla Semi. There's still no sleeper cab (altough the design would already allow to have it) and by the time Tesla releases it, I am confident their battery tech will allow them to increase the range for all long haul requirements to at least 650 miles or perhaps even 700 miles.
I don't think he said they'll build semis in Europe. He said -- referring to the 50K SEMI production in USA -- It will be initially for USA and then eventually for Europe. It does not mean there will be additional production beyond the 50K, or that there will be another factory. Pay attention to the exact language he used.
And imagine the truck operator is Optimus. If you make a van sized vehicle to use as a robotaxi, why wouldn't you use this platform to make a delivery van?
I would hope tesla would do more "same platform " vehicles like the 3 and y . Semi and cyber use up battery's that could have powered 4-5 different small busses and last mile del l. Vehicles. (My only oposition is battery shortage)
4680 ramping quickly. They'll soon have enough for 250k CT, 50k semis, and still some to spare for other vehicles. And speaking of the 3, how about 4680 in the SR, so it can get the credit? Nobody is buying the SR because the LR costs less.
What I’m hearing is, “our semi is already better than everything out there and this was our POS proof of concept and we’re not at scale or efficient yet” 😮
After a year of production only 82 semis in use at Pepsi. Any correlation with the promises, or we should wait another 3-5 years for the real product?! Another issue is the ridiculous promises of range. I drive YLR for 20 months now. I never made more than 325 km before needing to recharge. It’s 325/530 =0.613 % of what Tesla promise 😢 Calculating only the direct energy required for “driving” is misleading consumers. Still, once you go Tesla you might never go back.
was going to pick up a tesla cyber truck was able to place a pickup order thanks to my pre order on the day it was unveiled but do to lack of range we had to pass on the purchase since we wanted to tow a rather large boat. Super dumb tesla didn't at least have the 100k version truck to have a minimum of 400 miles, even 400 barely works with large loads on road trips.
I need Tesla to make a truck that hits the 26000lbs class this is right before cdl. This is almost all box and flat bed trucks. As a fleet manger I want this bad.
Gates has done very well with that short position against Tesla. He might love the company, but purely thought Tesla was over valued. Don’t get emotional with your stocks.
I would be bet there are multimillion mile batteries that will reach 1000 miles per charge. Not including a battery in the trailer, regenerative breaking on every wheel, and drafting by caravaning.
when and if nano nuclear energy company produces nukes traveling on semi truck trailers; then tesla could use them to install semi charging stations temporarily while being installed and move them to the next install job.
Yeah I remember when this came out of Gates, I also remember when orange man bad was hating on TSLA. No one, no matter how intelligent or how stupid will be 100% right (or wrong) 100% of the time

There's still no sleeper cab (altough the design would already allow to have it) and by the time Tesla releases it, I am confident their battery tech will allow them to increase the range for all long haul requirements to at least 650 miles or perhaps even 700 miles.
50000 a year is pretty good. Look at the diesel production.
Nice cars at the background during the Semi presentation!?....
looks like a pickup cybertruck and a robotaxi van?
The energy cost operating my 850hp Cyberbeast is less than gassing up my 190hp Toyota Tacoma.
And imagine the truck operator is Optimus.
If you make a van sized vehicle to use as a robotaxi, why wouldn't you use this platform to make a delivery van?
SMR: There's quite an echo in your mum's basement when you yell.
Does it matter?? Content is king.
I would hope tesla would do more "same platform " vehicles like the 3 and y .
Semi and cyber use up battery's that could have powered 4-5 different small busses and last mile del l. Vehicles. (My only oposition is battery shortage)
Sure they will come.
4680 ramping quickly. They'll soon have enough for 250k CT, 50k semis, and still some to spare for other vehicles. And speaking of the 3, how about 4680 in the SR, so it can get the credit? Nobody is buying the SR because the LR costs less.
18&26t ridged trucks are popular in the Europe
What I’m hearing is, “our semi is already better than everything out there and this was our POS proof of concept and we’re not at scale or efficient yet” 😮
Range of Trucks in the graphic below presentation...
R. I. P. ⚰️ SCAM compagny Nikola Motor 😂😂😂
I would rather the van be based on the Semi platform and a CyberSUV be based on the Cybertruck platform.
The "like" button does not work !?
was going to pick up a tesla cyber truck was able to place a pickup order thanks to my pre order on the day it was unveiled but do to lack of range we had to pass on the purchase since we wanted to tow a rather large boat.
Super dumb tesla didn't at least have the 100k version truck to have a minimum of 400 miles, even 400 barely works with large loads on road trips.
100,000 is at capacity which will take 2-4 years
This is way past wallstreet’s radar
I need Tesla to make a truck that hits the 26000lbs class this is right before cdl. This is almost all box and flat bed trucks. As a fleet manger I want this bad.
no semis delivered YEARS after announcement
Tesla could also have a bus in the pipeline !
Lets slips 😂
Gates has done very well with that short position against Tesla. He might love the company, but purely thought Tesla was over valued. Don’t get emotional with your stocks.
Been collecting the XAI990K this cycle as that has the right place in this time

500 miles is nothing to an OTR trucker.
In The USA, and not the same in Europe! Plus, OTR is the 20% of Trips, of the Total Semi Fleet! 🙄
I would be bet there are multimillion mile batteries that will reach 1000 miles per charge. Not including a battery in the trailer, regenerative breaking on every wheel, and drafting by caravaning.
It will be a minor modification in driver behavior to stop for a charge a day and still get 1k miles/day.
Refuse trucking is a prime target
0.4269 could be a good chance🤣
XAI990K is my green one 🚀 they rock 🚀

when and if nano nuclear energy company produces nukes traveling on semi truck trailers; then tesla could use them to install semi charging stations temporarily while being installed and move
them to the next install job.
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
Bruce Lee
Do we know for sure he still holds his short position?
I'd love tesla to double overnight and see gates face live 😂😂😂
pay your bill while the gates are open
Or 4 in a row second third an fourth driverless
I bet even at $500k these will be a bargain
Bill seems to have slimed down a bit!!!
We still early for XAI990K 🚀

Yeah I remember when this came out of Gates, I also remember when orange man bad was hating on TSLA. No one, no matter how intelligent or how stupid will be 100% right (or wrong) 100% of the time
