I started running 6 monthd ago , im 41. Feel in love, but so sad i didn't start when i was young instead of wasting it drinking booze 😭 my first parkrun 5k was 45 mins and thought i was going to die, a real eye opener to my fitness. I have now got it down to 22mins and run 4 days a week.
Those long runs are something I don’t think I’d ever be able to do. This guy is crazy good. I think he’ll go around 2:02 but think another world record is a little too much. Would love to be wrong
People who dont run have no clue how insane his pace is. I encourage everybody to try how long they can hold his pace! After that your Aww and respect for his performance will increase immensly.
I know distance runners peak mid-life, but doing all wild training at his age still seems wild. Especially since he’s been running on the world stage for decades!
Old isn’t until you reach mid 60s in my opinion, you really have to filter out what people say and instead believe in yourself believe In your abilities and learn what super focus and flow state is
I hope he breaks the world record. I hope he breaks 2:00 He is the greatest we have seen. Maybe the greatest we will see. I am happy for him and us no matter what he does.
If Kipchoge manages to do sub 2 at this race in Berlin, he for me goes down not just as the best marathon runner ever (which he already is) but arguably the greatest athlete ever - period. It's a tough push at age 38, and conditions have to be perfect, but if anybody can do it (with Kiplimo's help as well), it's Kipchoge. Bekele proved as well alongside Kipchoge though that fast times are possible in your late 30s. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping 🤞🤞🤞
If Kiptum was doing Berlin sub 2 would be almost inevitable from one of them but alone I see Kipchoge going low 2:01 or high 2:00 fastest. Hoping I'm wrong though and Eliud can pull it out of the bag
If his pacer can keep up a 2 hour flat marathon pace for 30km, good chance Kipchoge can take the final quarter on his own and finish under 2:01 which is likely his realistic goal. It makes a huge difference to allow someone to block the wind and set a pace for most of the marathon. There's a chance Kelvin Kiptum may just try to break the world record himself
What a phenomenal athlete. It would be so great if he would be the one to break the 2 hour barrier in an official marathon. But it will happen someday, someone like Kelvin Kiptum is only 23 and he is already setting these unbelievable times. Under 2 hours will happen.
I've just started running (no, jogging) 2 weeks ago. And I'm having nasty shin splits hence I'm looking at running videos. Then I found this GOAT. Omg, i cant last a minute but this superhuman runs for 2 hours at a rapid pace 😭 Much respect. I hope I can improve my own running for fitness sake lol
The weather is nearly perfect... 2:00:40 Yes, he is one year older, but he has better shoes, it should be not so warm in the second half like last year... And hopefully he has pacers until 25 or 30k. Then also 2:00:20 is possible. But... he is not limited, in a perfect race he maybe also could be under 2h 🤩
I like your videos a lot but it would really help me if the pace was also shown in Kilometers per hour. As a super casual runner I don't have any intuition on how fast 2:55/kilometer is
4:00 / Km is 15 Km / h 3:30 / Km is 17 Km / h 3:00 / Km is 20 Km / h 2:55 / Km is www.omnicalculator.com/sports/marathon-pace 2:50 / Km is 21.098 Km / h 2:30 / Km is 24 Km / h
These speed conversions are fairly easy to remember (and calculate) and should be able to give you rough speed estimates for paces for everything from the elite to amateurs. 2 min/km = 30 km/h 3 min/km = 20 km/h 4 min/km = 15 km/h 5 min/km = 12 km/h 6 min/km = 10 km/h Another way to think about it for the elite is that a HM is 21.1k and is run at slightly under an hour so the speed is slightly above 21.1 km/h. A marathon is run at slightly above 2 hours, so speed is slightly below 21.1 km/h. With these rules you know that 2:55/km is faster than 20 km/h (less than 3 min/km), but slower than 21.1 km/h (marathon time >2h). It's actually around 20.6 km/h so our estimate was fairly good.
Divide kilometer by 0.6237...end of story. OR to convert mile pace to kilometer pace, just multiply mile pace times .6237. Take 1 mile (1609.47 meters) and anyone can do the math make conversions.
So basically to be the best long distance runner you need to train long distance but being a amateur runner myself running 4:30 mile even for 1 mile is extremely difficult so to be able to do that over 26 miles it literally doesnt seem possible.
Let's hope that the weather will not be too hot ,but a bit cold for the Berlin Marathon. This year is the hotest year registered by mankind. And the winter in th South hemispheric was up + 15 °C higher then usual ... I have used shorts in monst days this winter ...
@stevelau7694 yeah, indeed after they drop around 25/30 km the race change completely especially if he is by himself, that's why it's a pity there isn't kiptum, they should gather all the best in a race like that and see what happens
Hmmm, a race where all the best racers compete. I wish they had that too. Oh well. On a separate note, I'm looking forward to the Olympic marathon next year. Should be a great race. 😉
Doesnt seem that long ago that Wilson Kipsang broke the WR. Now he's almost out of the top 20 best times. Absolutely wild progression in the mens marathon
Why is everyone blind to the competition that can put strangle hold on a fast pace any number of runners can not only run with kipchoge but can beat him just like Boston
Jacob Kiplimo, the fastest half marathoner ever, will be one of the elite Pacers this Sunday. I'm excited 🔥
Serious ???? ❤❤❤❤

Certainly way more than me. I only commute 13km per week lol
I run more than I drive a week. Granted, I work from home
Definitely 💯
I also do the same, because I don’t have a car 😂

They cant run that fast bro. Let alone hold it

2:24 marathon is a light session for him 😂😂😂😂😂 next level. 🐐
Yeah I follow a few elite marathoners on Strava and they will do 35k at 3:10/km and say "some laid back mileage"
Cant wait to see him in berlin my hometown❤
That track workout is just amazing. So consistent at such a high effort. Long live the king Kipchoge
Kipchoge will break the world record again and maybe, maybe under 2:00:00 or very close to it. He can do it. 😊❤

Always start slower. Try MAF method.
Kipchoge wins, in 2:00:46.

so refreshing to watch this video after knowing that Kipchoge won Berlin for the 5th time

Sub 5 min miles for an entire marathon? That is just mind blowing to me
Not just "sub"...WAY faster
Sub 5 minutes for a half a mile is Bonkers 😂
question: Is that genetics or training ?
Both
video is all kilometers but thumbnail is miles, what up with that?
Nike paying Kiptum to not compete at Berlin is a crime
What did Eliud do after the marathon?
He kept jogging...
Surely he could run a mere 2.5 seconds faster per mile and beat the 2 hour mark!!!
Even 1 second per kilometre is a big difference at that level. It's literally pushing the boundaries of human physiology
👏👏
How much does he weigh? 90ibs 😅
