A few years ago I started the practice of meditation. In college, I took an Intro to Tai Chi & Chi Quiong. I really enjoyed learning some of the movements. Fast forward over ten years later. I now live in MSP and have wanted to practice and really master Tai Chi. It is, however, very costly to take classes. As a single mother, I just haven't been able to afford the classes. I purchased DVD's and illustrated book to try and learn the art but have failed again and again. There has been a silent switch within my soul; my heart has been broken and my free spirit squelched over the last 12 months. The sociopolitical climate is stiffling. I awoke on January 1st and I experienced a deep calming resolution, that seemingly chose me; this is the year I start, in sincerity, and with great intentionality to learn Tai Chi. A modest search on You Tube search brought me to your channel. I am going to start with The 100 days of Tai Chi! What a fabulous way to start my New Year. Thank you, Sir, for being so generous with your time and being willling to share your knowledge and passion with the world. It. Makes. A. Lasting. Difference. Thank you so much!
Just started following this channel today. first day, so far so good! In my twenties I lived in Taiwan for a couple of years and saw so many “older people” doing this in the park every morning and thought it looked beutiful but also odd. Now I’m 60 and the idea of of learning to move so gracefully (and keep moving) so so appealing. I’m looking forward to the next 99 days!
Thank you David. As a teacher of TCMA I find what you’re doing to be very, very commendable and hope everyone can appreciate how rare and generous a gift this is. Again Thanks.
Thank you sir! I am a woman with little money and an aging body who needs to work out, but bad knees prevent strenuous work outs. This is perfect for me. I appreciate you so much!
I struggled to follow other instructional videos as they zipped through the steps too quickly, but the way you break down the feet and hand movements separately and actually specified left or right makes a massive difference. I was really put off and nearly gave up trying until I found this, thank you, I'm going to do all 100 days
I've started the 100 days a couple of weeks ago, and now I am back from day 13 to day 1, as I've realized that I need not just to get to know a new movement every day, but also to connect it to the previous movements and train them altogether. Looking forward to become more free and fluid in the Tai chi! Thank you David!
Just started day 1 and looking forward to adding this into my daily practice. I wanted to say thank you for putting in the effort to offer this to people.
I don't know if you'll see this but it's quarantine right now and I think this will be an absolute life saver - thank you for giving us access to something so great!
I have a lot of problems converting the front view to what I am supposed to be doing in mirror image. Books are almost useless for me .. so your back views are excellent - you are the only teacher I have found who shows this - thank you so much.
I am just starting this with you, David, and noticed you have not returned to this page in quite a while. I am excited about learning this over the next 100 days. I am 74 and trained in a couple of martial styles over the years. I know that breathing is important and wondered how I should be breathing? I hope you are well and continuing to teach.
@@luberdoo1950 thank you so much for the kind words. I’m just working on too many other projects right now to make new videos, although it’s always on my mind. To answer your question about breathing, in the beginning it’s best not to overthink it. Just breathe naturally in whatever way your bodydecides to breathe. To focus too much on breathing in the beginning, adds an extra dimension of difficulty that will only get in the way. Plenty of time to worry about breathing later.
I am 65 years old and I just starting to learn tai chi. I love how you are explaining the things. I am learning very slow, but I will get it. The 100 days is wonderful idea I can back so many times I need to understand the positions. Thank you
I found you years ago and just didn't follow through. Well 1 month ago I had my 2nd spine surgery and now I'm back. This is such a great way to get some gentle and mindful movement in that is helping me not feel so depressed about the spine. Thank you.
Hi David. I'm Portuguese living in Cascais. I have practiced Tai Chi for some time with different instructors due to the change of locations. Now more than 10 years and despite looking for classes found nothing. So, it was with great joy, that I discovered your videos of 100 days of Tai Chi. They are exactly what I need. The same forms that I love. I´m glad and thankful. Best regards. Joao
Thank you David-Dorian! you have me in the "Dorian Mode" ( that is a music scale" I have been watching different Tai Ch classes. They start with warm-ups. I inow they are important. but when they come to from , they go to fast and do not show the breakdown. thank you for showing each movement in detail. I am looking forward to day 100 when I can do the complete form.I just turned 77 and know I need to make my body limber and stronger. I am a very active musician/singer/guitarist/songwriter/recording artist. I need this to keep me strong. I'll be following you !
I hope you’re still reading the comments! I’m really excited to begin your lessons. I’ve searched around for the right type of teaching, and I really enjoyed your “Day 1” lesson. Glad I found you!
This is the 12th time I attended the Day 1 class. Ok, I learn slowly, although with each viewing there is yet another nugget of information that I missed bc I was focused on something else. It is truly learning in layers. David's teaching quality and information density is high enough that multiple attendance yields yet another point/tip that the student can employ and improve on. It is amazing fun, he is always talking directly to every student. I have quietly nudged forward through to day 11, so I know things are coming. Breath control for example, I cheated and asked a friend who teaches Tai Chi about it. I my case it is hard to leave the house for very long to attend a live school. David is a great alternative.
Awesome!! I started Qigong because I was having a hard time learning the Tai Chi moves. This makes it so much easier. Now I can learn both! I hate lifting and the gym at sixty seven. Qigong and Tai chi seem to fit who I am at my age and it's not boring!! Thank you, so much for 100 days of Tai Chi🙏🙏🙏
I've been searching for someone to start learning Tai chi for soooo long, tried following different teachers but couldn't understand anything. I didn't give up, as I got in love with this practice. And now I found your lessons, and it's a bingo!!! Thank you very much, you have a gift of explaining! Starting all over with you!!!!
Thank you, sir. A decade or so ago, I bought one of your DVDs and began learning at home. I practiced for awhile, but drifted away from the art unfortunately. Now, after discovering this series, I have recommitted with a fresh start and renewed dedication. Thank you, David-Dorian, you really are a great teacher.
I am 52 yes young Latvian from Scotland and I recently discovered benefits of Tai chi. Thanks for your lessons. They really helps me and I willing to learn more. Santa
I followed a very old program of yours for tai chi and it's helping me with the beginning of the recovery (still at the beginning, still recovering) of various back problems. Thanks for posting things on youtube too!
Well done. I used to be well fit, but between work and school, I’ve let my fitness slide. So now working from home on the governor’s “stay home” orders, I started looking for something I can do to get back into shape. I may have to spend more than one day on each until I can keep up, but I’m definitely going to be here each day. Thank you for giving these lessons to us.
I just started taking Tai Chi last year and have studied many videos when not in class. You break it down and explain it nicely and clearly and it’s easier for me to visualize the individual movements and what they’re called. We are doing 24 form but I’ll keep watching yours. It’s helping me keep up in class. Thank you.
Thank you, David - I just started 1st lesson & I quite enjoyed you! I am going to do a couple each day for your 100 days - I am a 61 yr old woman & on disability so couldn’t afford to pay & then I found you, your generosity of offering free lessons is quite remarkable and greatly appreciated 🤗❤️
Hi Charby - I am so glad you found the channel as well. I hope you have a great time with the lessons - I think they get better as the go on, but please don't hesitate to shoot me a question in the comments if anything needs more explanation. Have fun!
I used your seated tai chi for over 60 with my grade 6 students today. They enjoyed it. Trying to introduce them to different ways they can manage stress. I will use more of videos with them in the coming months
Thanks David , this is excellent and the way you teach with the professionalism and the skill in explaining the breakdown of each movement, enables me to practise with confidence. I have a number of disabilities caused by injuries from my previous life and with your approach to the teaching of Tai Chi , I am able to learn (with practice) these basic movements. Thank you and I am looking forward to the rest of the 99 days!
Hi, Thank you so much for providing these 100 days of Tai Chi for beginners. I am a 65 year old British woman in the UK. I have been looking at a more spiritual way of life and I'm hoping you will help me reach this goal. Thank you for the day 1. Jean Ross
Thank you so much for your generosity ! I practiced yang taï chi years and years ago, I left and regretted to. It's not so easy to start again without a teacher or following the complete series on RUclips. Even if some are absolutely wonderful. Your idea of 100 days is just amazing and marvellous. I'm so grateful to find your clear explanations in order to be able to start again. I've just promised to myself I will follow you. From 1 to 100 ! Promise ! And today is the first day. You're a good teacher. And definitely a generous man. Thank you.
... and then I decided to take up Tai Chi. Not very successfully at first, but finding this lovely collection, I can say now that you are the teacher I understand and I can follow the instructions! I am very grateful, thank you for this generous gift you gave us. Greetings from Spain!
I do not know if you read this but i want to thank you. I have fibromyalgia and had a heart attack 6 years ago . Because of these things i can not do a lot of sports but i really wanted to learn Tai Chi, but in The Netherlands it is really difficult to find a class and when i do find one, the class is to far away. I tried You Tube video's but they were to difficult to follow and i gave up. But last week i found your video's and now i understand the movements. Thank you so much for explaining them so well.
I have been incorporating a few simple Tai Chi movements taught by DDR in my weekly yoga classes. The reason I use them is to quiet the individuals who have been hurrying through their days. The movements assist with balance. So far, we have had success and enjoyment.
I have a small disability and I'm happy that I went looking to learn more about Tai Chi. I heard this was a good form of exercise for losing weight and gaining health benefits. Thank you, Mr. Ross for this channel.
Omg thank you so much! I learned tai chi years ago in my 20’s and fell out of practice. I’m now 49 and want to get back into it and found this series online. What a wonderful refresher. I look forward to doing all 100 days!
This is my first exposure to Tai Chi. Great teaching in this day 1 lesson! Thank you for making this content accessible. Looking forward to the next 99!
@@TheChocoSama Same🙈, but I already knew I wanted to learn Tai Chi but idk knowing that waterbending was based on Tai Chi got me more inspired and motivated for some reason
I HAVE A HARD TIME WITH CORONATION, CHOREOGRAPHY, AND SOMETIMES EVEN LEFT AND RIGHT DIRECTIONS, BUT YOUR STEP BY STEP STEPS, EXPLANATIONS, BACK TO CAMERA TIME, IT HELPS. I JUST GOT INTO TAI CHI BECAUSE I'M WRITING A FANFICTION STORY. I HAD TO RESEARCH IT, TO GET THE DESCRIPTIONS DESCRIBED RIGHT. NOW THAT I'VE USED SOME TAI CHI MYSELF, I HAVE BETTER BALANCE. I WASN'T SURE HOW IT ALL FLOWED TOGETHER UNTIL I WATCHED YOUR VIDEO. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK, AND TAKING THE TIME TO MAKE THIS VIDEO.
Whatever 666 Thank YOU so much! I’m so glad that this video helped - please let me know if you have any questions. And I’d love to hear more about your fan fiction story!
HOW DO I STOP MY RIGHT HAND FOLLOWING MY LEFT IN THE 'WARD OFF'? IS IT BECAUSE I AM A LEFTY, BUT MY RIGHT ARM IS SLIGHTLY STRONGER? IN THE FANFICTION IT'S BASED ON 'BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER' THE CHARACTER ANGEL (A VAMPIRE WITH A SOUL) STRUGGLES WITH BEING BACK FROM HELL. HE ENDS UP FIGHTING AN AMBUSH OF VAMPIRES, THEN IS HIT BY A CAR, CAUSING HIM TO BE BLIND, DEAF, AND MUTE. HE TRIES THE WHOLE BALANCE ON ONE LEG (I THINK IT'S CALLED 'GOLDEN ROSTER'?) ANYWAY HE KEEPS LOSING HIS BALANCE, AND FALLING DOWN. HE REGAINS HIS SIGHT, AND HEARING, BUT IT TAKES A LITTLE LONGER FOR HIS CONFIDENCE TO FORM WORDS BACK. BUT WITH THOSE AROUND CLAIMED AS FAMILY, THEY FACE THE STRUGGLES TOGETHER... I'M WRITING 'ANGEL'S RETURN' IN THE VAMPIRE'S POINT OF VIEW. IN THE TV SERIES THEY HAVE A FEW SCENES OF ANGEL PERFORMING TAI CHI.
I had to come all the way back to the beginning to say thank you for this. This has been wonderful. I'm not very far yet but I'm having a wonderful time learning. You are a fantastic teacher.
Thank you David! In questo periodo di isolamento per l'emergenza contro il virus Covit19 le tue lezioni mi accompagnano ogni giorno per risollevare il corpo e lo spirito!
I just stumbled upon RUclips site today and I am so glad I did. I've been wanting to learn more about Tai Chi for a while and your teaching style really resonates with me. Love that you are starting from the very beginning...this is exactly what I've been looking for. Can't wait for tomorrow's video Thank you!
i found this site on accident. i was looking for info on meditation and curious about the tailbone tuck idea and the flaws and david had a good video complementing the bad of tucking tailbones by showing how to drop a tailbone. i came her not looking to do tai chi but now im into tai chi now. :D - i read a little bit about tai chi and i think ill be fine using yang style, because i heard you probably shouldnt do yang style only if your ill or injured for this style has some dark energy in the body that it must call to.
You are a wonderful teacher David. I have tried to follow many videos on Tai Chi and have never been successful but your teaching style and the detail provided is just what I have been looking for. Well done...I am looking forward to the next 99 days!
Little more than "pretty" darn good at teaching, more like VERY good. I got into Tai chi because of you sir, and it has been a beautiful journey. My family and I wish you the very best, mr Ross.
Thank you so much! I am so grateful for the opportunity to share this with you - and I'm very happy to hear that you are enjoying the journey. There is so much more to come.
Hello David I always wanted to earn tai chi (to overcome my anxiety) and here you are with this lovely offering of 100 days thank you 🙏 I will try this everyday . I love the way you teach 🙏 than you from London England
Glad I came upon this through Facebook and have signed on. Your format was clear and easy to follow but I wanted a final sum up (so to speak) where you face us and we do the movement with you much like your video tapes and the morning flow which I use/follow religiously. Thank you, David, for continuing to share your growth!
Hi. I found your tai chi seated online lessons to be very good. My physical strength has been very poor for sometime and then I started doing a weekly yoga lesson here at home as I had become housebound over the last couple of years. And then I remembered that very good online tai chi teacher at TaijiFit....as my yoga teacher has provided me with a good yoga programme and I am now managing the stairs and a very short assisted walk outside....my yoga teacher has added more standing to my programme lately and tai chi is more fun than waiting for the kettle to boil!!,,,, though some just standing of course does feature. I just did your first lesson in the 100 days series, standing all the time, and thoroughly enjoyed it!
A good beginning and a prudent wrap-up. Reminding us that taiji comes in layers may reduce some over-eager comments here at the start. Thank you for leading us in this100 day focus on the Long Form.
Appreciate your doing this- Choreography is completely new to me. I am taking a course in Tai Chi from a local college for adults and it is difficult to put it all together. I think this offering will make it more understandable.
Thank You. I have muscler/scalitor issue and I need something to stay model, etc.... It's that time of year, so, Merry Christmas and a safe New Year/Happy Holidays!
I did tai chi for 2 years before my balance got the better of me and they kept having to pick me up off the floor. I am now going to try to do this everyday. Slowly!!! Maybe I can one day go back to class. Thanks!
I just found your videos! I am going to follow this whole series to complement the in-person classes I am taking too. I love how explicitly you break down the movement with detailed instructions! So clear!
Thank you David. The instructions were detailed and extremely helpful. Demonstrating the movements both facing and turning away from the camera also very helpful. I know you asked for feedback so I'll also say that the sound quality is very good. You may consider changing the lighting if possible. The left side of your face was pretty washed out due to the brightness of the lighting when you walked toward the camera. and your right side was in some shadow. If you are not interested in feedback regarding the overall production quality, please let me know.
No I really do appreciate the feedback - especially about lighting, camera and sound. I'll work on getting the lighting a little more even - let me know if you think it gets better over the next couple of lessons.
Excellent! I love the level of detail. I have already learned some good stuff I hadn’t picked up from learning this form before. I especially like the way you showed the moves from front and back. I agree with the previous comment, that a video of the entire form, or at least reasonably sized sections of it, would be very helpful as we go along.
You rock! So nice to see you online. I used to do your thai chi videos with my mom when I was a kid. We had you A.M. Chi for Beginners on VHS. I'm late to the 100 day challenge but I plan on doing it. Thank you for creating it. :)
Thank you so much for these kind words! I'm glad that you've found the channel - I think the videos in this series get better as we go along... so please enjoy! :-)
Woaaah! Found your channel as an ad after a yoga practice I also follow on RUclips. I skip ads most of the time, but for some reason I didn’t skip yours. Glad I didn’t! I’ll incorporate this with my yoga. :) Thank you.
Arvi Yayy! I have also practiced yoga for 40 years and I’d love to get more people from the yoga community to come visit. I believe the two practices are perfect complements for each other.
Excellent intro, first day. Thank you. I took Tai Chi in Boston in the 70's and am psyched to get back to it. Glad you mentioned the layers because I was wondering about breath and weight ratios! Looking forward to the days ahead.

I have a small disability and I'm happy that I went looking to learn more about Tai Chi. I heard this was a good form of exercise for losing weight and gaining health benefits. Thank you, Mr. Ross for this channel.
Anita - thank YOU for taking the time to try out Tai Chi! Let me know if you ever have any questions or special requests!
Thanks, David, I'm on day one. I'm 64 years old I into meditation and I want to enjoy better health and fitness. I simply want to be my best self.
This is one of the best tutorials for tai chi. Thank you David. I will be following you for the next 100 days. Wonderful.
This is my first day practice. Looking forward to the next sessions for a peaceful life
All i think of was "wow, this is waterbending" :D Thanks for clear explanations, I will keep up!
i was thinking the same thing haha
Me too
Waterbending was actually based on Tai Chi🙃
@@unapendeja5905 right, that's why i wanted to learn more about tai chi actually 😅
@@TheChocoSama Same🙈, but I already knew I wanted to learn Tai Chi but idk knowing that waterbending was based on Tai Chi got me more inspired and motivated for some reason
Oh my Goodness, I love this. I cannot believe that I did it. YAY!!!!!!!!
I'm Committed! Subscribed and notified ☺️
I will watch you daily I hope I learn Tai chi in next 100 days you are a awesome teacher ............thank you MASTER .
I have taken The 100 day challenge from yesterday . I love ur way of explaining ❤ love from India
It would really be helpful if you could add a video for this series with the whole routine straight through.
Day one for me today. I'm hoping to get all the way to 100 days. I like the way you explain each move in-depth. Thank you 😊
You are a wonderful teacher David. I have tried to follow many videos on Tai Chi and have never been successful but your teaching style and the detail provided is just what I have been looking for. Well done...I am looking forward to the next 99 days!
Thak you so much David Gracias miles I learn
Little more than "pretty" darn good at teaching, more like VERY good. I got into Tai chi because of you sir, and it has been a beautiful journey. My family and I wish you the very best, mr Ross.
Thank you so much! I am so grateful for the opportunity to share this with you - and I'm very happy to hear that you are enjoying the journey. There is so much more to come.
Hello David I always wanted to earn tai chi (to overcome my anxiety) and here you are with this lovely offering of 100 days thank you 🙏 I will try this everyday . I love the way you teach 🙏 than you from London England
You're welcome!
Glad I came upon this through Facebook and have signed on. Your format was clear and easy to follow but I wanted a final sum up (so to speak) where you face us and we do the movement with you much like your video tapes and the morning flow which I use/follow religiously. Thank you, David, for continuing to share your growth!
I went to class for the first time yesterday and was so confused. I think the layered approach is going to work for me. Thank you.
David-Dorian Ross is awesome, truly a superb instructor. Thank you!!
I'm 2 years late but I'm gonna do all the 100 day as I was starting with you
Hello from Brazil!
Just beginning my 100 days. Thank you for taking the time to break down and explain the motions as you go :)
Thank you. Looking forward to following your lessons.
A good beginning and a prudent wrap-up. Reminding us that taiji comes in layers may reduce some over-eager comments here at the start. Thank you for leading us in this100 day focus on the Long Form.
You are very welcome. Thanks for joining in the fun!
Hi from India. I started today - looking forward to come back tomorrow for Day 2!
Thank you for your excellent presentation. Even I can follow your clear instructions.
I did tai chi for 2 years before my balance got the better of me and they kept having to pick me up off the floor. I am now going to try to do this everyday. Slowly!!! Maybe I can one day go back to class. Thanks!
Thank you so much, I just subscribed and have started and I am so grateful. Much appreciated
Thank you somuch ,, excellent teaching,,, first day join with u interesting,,
Thank you for the so easy to follow teaching...the break down of move us so useful
By far the best class 👏. Thank you so much for sharing, you are absolutely am angel x
I just found your videos! I am going to follow this whole series to complement the in-person classes I am taking too. I love how explicitly you break down the movement with detailed instructions! So clear!
I've had exactly 100 days of deconditioning. Now I am starting your program and giving myself 100 days of reconditioning. Thank you for this!
Thanks for doing this. I've been practising the Cheng Man-ching form for 15yrs and the 24 form for 5, looking forward to finally learning the 103.
Thanks Tommy - nice to have some variety sometimes, you know?
Absolutely fantastic !! Clean and crisp explanation and demonstration by David.
شكرا جزيلا استاذ انه عمل رابع يستحق الثناء وشكرا جزيلا على الترجمة

Day 1! Looking forward to learning this.
Love this way to follow your steps....two steps to begin with ...will be back when I feel them in my body! thanks from Sweden 💓
Thank you very much from Bulgaria!
Excellent! I love the level of detail. I have already learned some good stuff I hadn’t picked up from learning this form before. I especially like the way you showed the moves from front and back. I agree with the previous comment, that a video of the entire form, or at least reasonably sized sections of it, would be very helpful as we go along.
Thank you so much! You are an excellent teacher.
Brilliantly done. Perfectly broken down and demonstrated. Thanks so much for this series!!
scott fishkind Thank you so much! As you go through the series please let me know if you have any questions. 😎🙏
@@DavidDorianRoss Thanks so much, I will definitely do so! :)
You rock! So nice to see you online. I used to do your thai chi videos with my mom when I was a kid. We had you A.M. Chi for Beginners on VHS. I'm late to the 100 day challenge but I plan on doing it. Thank you for creating it. :)
Thai chi 🤣🤣
Can’t thank you enough ⚛️☸️ I study this everyday religiously.
Your a lovely Teacher I will try to learn these techniques thank you .peace be with you 🙏
Thank you so much for these kind words! I'm glad that you've found the channel - I think the videos in this series get better as we go along... so please enjoy! :-)
Ok I starting day 1. Here goes! Thanks you David.
BRAVO DDR ... this is going to be a great series. Thank you for putting this together for us.
Thanks Garry!
I’ve tried some Tai Chi videos before but this one really breaks it down. Thank you!
Thank you for making this so clear to a beginner. I greatly appreciate it!
Thank you for the movement breakdowns! This was the perfect pace.
Thanks for this tutorials.. it's helpful for me😊🙏
Excellent intro, first day. Thank you. I took Tai Chi in Boston in the 70's and am psyched to get back to it. Glad you mentioned the layers because I was wondering about breath and weight ratios! Looking forward to the days ahead.
Love tai chi and the way you teach it! Thank you from an Italian longtime fan of yours
Wow thank you so much Daniela!
