  • Swedish Death Cleaning is decluttering with the future in mind. When you die, someone will go through your junk drawer. You can leave a drawer that can barely be opened with items buried and obscured. Or you can leave a drawer organized so important items can be easily located.
In this video, we tackle the pesky junk drawer. Open your junk drawer and declutter with me.

      @@APRWorldTravel Thank you so much!
I really just don’t like to manage a bunch of stuff so it motivates me to stay organized. 😁
      God bless you! 🙌🏼

I wondered why you didn’t put the envelopes with the stamps, but hey, if it makes sense to you…
My problem is organizing my paperwork since I had a million things happen in a few months time. Your video is encouraging. Thanks.

@@HopefulEmpath The envelopes wouldn’t fit the containers but they did fit the back of the drawer nicely.
Paperwork is so easy to lose control of. It has been my problem too. I’m much better with it since making it my mission to get rid of as much paper as possible.
I’m going through my files again soon. I know there are more papers I can get rid of.
The less I have the less I have to manage. 👏🏼
Thank you for watching and your encouraging comment. 😊

@@simplifyyourlifewithgwen That makes sense about the envelopes. Maybe it was an optical illusion (the video angle) that they looked like they would fit in the container. Yes, paperwork is my cross to bear right now. I put most of it in the files without sorting and will get back to it this month.

Thank you for sharing. I have a question but not pertaining to Junk Drawer. Do you have VHS tapes specifically Disney. I am struggling as to what to do with them.

@@beverlysnyder1779 I don’t keep any hard copies of movies. I have a VHS tape of my wedding (which I need to have digitized if possible) and a sports VHS tape my husband wanted to keep and that’s it.
I find they take up too much room so I’ve never collected them. If you watch them and have room for them - and it makes sense to keep them because you enjoy them… you create a space for them that works for you.
If you’re keeping them but don’t have use for them anymore… feel free to donate or sell them to someone who would enjoy them.
Don’t feel like you have to keep them just because they’re Disney movies. If you got all the enjoyment out of them you wanted it’s perfectly fine to pass them on for someone else to enjoy.
People keep a lot of things out of obligation, guilt, or a perceived monetary value.
You could check the “sold” movies on eBay and see the value.
Keeping things out of guilt or obligation becomes a weight on our mind as well as clutter in our home (much of the time).
If you want them but don’t have room for them… that’s where creative storage ideas can be explored.
      I hope that helps.
      Thank you for watching! 😊

My biggest problem is the cords - charging cords and old cell phone charger cords. These make my drawer look messy.

@@ediefrasier2932 I hear ya. I have a box of cords that are getting ready to go to the great beyond.
I’ve been carting around that box since the 90s and after having never used one cord out of that box in 30 years… I think I’m safe to let it go. 😁
I have a drawer in nightstand that has extra cords that I’ll revisit. And I have the small organizer in the “un”junk drawer that has the 2 cords we use daily.
I’m cutting the cords and simplifying life. 🙌🏼😀
