  • A video taken during Hurricane Ian from my house in NW Cape Coral, FL. The eye went directly over. Long, long, long day. About 14 hours of hell as it was relentless. Still blessed and luckier than a lot of people. I have a house to fix. Some don't.
Would I leave next time? Nope. Windows blew out and the house may have been gone if I wasn't here to do some things.
The help from everyone was nothing short of a godsend.
    Thank you all so much.
You really find out who your friends are during these times.
God bless all those who were affected. Please help them in any way you can.
    Thank you.

Some good video there, although pretty short!
Glad ya made it out alright.
Y'all definitely got hit harder than us in collier county but I wouldn't say it's the worst damage or strongest winds I've seen.
Even so it looked pretty intense and that backside I know was stronger.
Now here's to the next hurricane season!
The winds weren't as bad at my house so all we lost was shingles!
Around my area there were gas station canopies and trees knocked down too but nothing past roofing structurally (I live in Golden Gate, FL 8 miles east of Naples)

Yeah, no more video after the eye because the backside was worse and I had alot of things going on to keep everything together

      @@marshallstakks81 Yeah, understandable.
Honestly you're lucky the first half wasn't worse because rather than have the stronger side weaken post-landfall before hitting you it would've hit before weakening post-landfall, therefore bringing even stronger winds.

@@tvold9204 Both sides were just really bad. After the eye, it slowed down to nothing and stayed there for about 12 hours

@@marshallstakks81 It was moving pretty damn slow.
I remember going to bed at around 9 or 9:30 that night and I could hear the wind ripping against my bedroom window hard.
It sounded like a chainsaw almost, really loud too.

      It's gonna happen again.
Maybe next time will be even worse.
No telling when, maybe this year or in 50 years but there will always be a bigger fish and that applies too to hurricanes.

@@BillyBob-im7og your lucky you did man I hunkered down with my parents and sister and it was the worst time I’ve ever been in. Tree fell and cave in part of my old room. People I work with lost their homes or were trapped due to flooding, two people in the neighborhood died. It’s hard not to watch these videos without getting emotional remembering it all. Definitely said religious prayers. Seeing our shed just get lifted in the air like it was nothing even when we nailed it down was unbelievable. Found it two streets over in someone else’s backyard they were kind to let us look for stuff lol, I hope law enforcement will direct gas lines and people looking for food moving forward.
Looking back we all regret not evacuating, we lost a lot of personal items in the storm that we could’ve packed away but we’re very fortunate to at least say we have a home and now months later life is back to normal… besides the rest of the trees crooked.
