Nice tweaks on the Volvo Gasser, Jim. I've come across a few of these now, and snatched them up because finding anything I like over here is a rare thing! I prefer the front ends of these over the old '55 Chevys that HW puts out with that big plastic blob there. Your changes were all improvements. Ideas! 😀 Happy Easter weekend!🍁☕👍

This particular Gasser was an actual car that competed at Santa Pod Raceway in England and other UK dragstrips.

Looks great! I like the wide front tires better than I thought I would. The older Hot Wheels had slicks like that all the way around. That and street freaks from the early '70s. I've just got into customizing Hot Wheels. Mostly concentrating on the '57 Chevys right now. Got tired of the art car decos this year and like them better in candy red or metalflake blue, with 5-spoke mags or vintage slots. Might have to pick up another Volvo now...

looking good. I thought the tampos being a good bit dull, so definitely an improvement. :)
I grabbed two of those volvos, no idea what to do with them; but, there. here in germany you either have the really big toy shops like tos R us, or some other, which never have a shop around my vicinity, or internet, or various supermarket chains which carry toys, like HW and Matchbox. so what one doesn't have maybe the other does? they seem to get what the importer throws them, I have yet to see a pattern. anyway, I like to grab what seems relevant to my tastes. :)

You want tweak it and it’s nicely tweaked.
Those Hot Wheels decals on the body make the casting looks like a cheap toy and removing them make a difference.

Love this gasser. I was so excited to finally see it release early this year. I want to pick up some more as I like the skinnies up front for wheel swaps on the bel air gassers. The bel airs look amazing to me with the skinnies up front. Cheers !

Nice job. I did something similar but concentrated on detailing the engine, blacking a lot of the interior to make the roll cage pop and swapping the wheels for Hot Wheels slot mags/Matchbox "Halibrands". It's a great casting of a car I've been lucky enough to admire in person a few times

I'm sure the artists at Hot Wheels know what they're doing, but with big companies comes other people's input, and sometimes that kind of corporate meddling can hurt a product more than help it. With Hot Wheels, sometimes they just need to reign things in a little. They're doing good product, but if you don't land the dismount, you don't get 9s and 10s from the judges, eh? ;)

@@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms Yeah. That's kind of what I was eluding to. Having worked licensing gigs for years now, I can tell you that artists only get partial say in things. What the art director wants, the changes he or she wants, those are the things that shape the final product, for better or for worse. It's never one driving vision. It's always a team effort, which means compromises are inevitable.
