I am so inspired by the Māori culture. I was introduced to their culture when I was 10. They came to the Netherlands and gave a workshop to my class. That's when I fell in love with this culture. Can't wait for the border to go open, to visit and experience their culture
Be very careful what you wish for, some of us feel sure this government will embrace maori culture and you could be eaten by these hungry brown people.
I’m half maori half Singaporean. My iwi is ngati whatua but I never was really introduced or taught of Maori language or culture until I met my family at a funeral.
I was introduced to Māori culture by a metal band called alien weaponry. Some day I’m going to NZ to visit one of the Māori villages. This culture is probably the most beautiful on earth.
The soulful “Mana” seems to parallel Buddhists’ Namaste & I love it. ❤ Thank you for posting this video teaching about this beautiful tribe & some of its traditions.

Just so you know, the presenter is visiting a Māori cultural experience tourism show, which is set up like an olden day Maori village. It isn't a tribe, Mītai is the name of the family who opened and operate the village. This is a tourism show. Real Māori live in modern houses, just like everyone else in Aotearoa New Zealand. And we don't walk around dressed like that unless we're performing. At special events we may wear a korowai (feather/woven cloak) over our everyday clothes. And only some of us have facial moko (tattooing). I feel like the title of this video is a little deceptive...
To my new Zealand brothers and sisters whether you are indigenous or not. I tell my aboriginal Aussie brothers and sisters the same thing and my Aussie country men and women the same thing whether they are indigenous or not we are all connected as a soul trait does not matter about race or genes we are all one! I was born and raised in Australia and my ancestors were great people farmers and irish. I make my acknowledgements to my Aboriginal brothers and sisters also who are here with us or in the spirit. I am a descendant from betsy mcoomb who was irish and immigrated to Australia in melbourne in the mid 1800’s. I look Just like her and have her genes. Irish woman from a place with green pastures..
Your video is really impressive. We are producing an entertainment program called "After School: School Trip" in South Korea. Next month, New Zealand students will travel to Korea to film. May I quote your video to introduce these friends' journey? The source of the video will be indicated. I'll be waiting for your answer! Have a nice day. Thank you.
I wouldn't say 'version of' but, there are definitely similarities between Polynesian cultures such as ones between Hawaiian and Māori. Māori are the natives of New Zealand and I am proud to be Māori💜
Māori culture being one of the most unique cultures in the world was sadly not all beautiful carvings and ceremonies, a large part of Māori culture and life in New Zealand was warfare especially after the Europeans arrived. Warfare stretched from the territory of tribes all up in the top of New Zealand all the way down to the bottom. It was rarely peaceful in their times, but nearly no country hasn’t had the scar of war or hate.
maoris first met humans when captain cook discovered them and the british people trained them so they could make food and clothes. like most wild natives they attacked the human people but eventually they realised people were just helping them and now they are friendly and act like normal people. hopefully they will all learn to live in harmony moving forward.
Ghee, we already knew how to cook & make our own clothes. The british main intention was to colonise the newfound island, before the Spaniard's or the French. They started trading resources such as potatoes & weapons like muskets. Eventually we signed the treaty of Waitangi, we lost everything, the British wanted to get rid of our culture to modernise NZ and we were discriminated against. All goods now though as we've sorted all that stuff out & our culture is thriving more than ever. Don't speak of us as some rabid animal, we were a thriving group of people with culture & traditions.
@@Nikora.Biddle what you dont understand is the British nations and captain cook did all they could to trian the natives and thats a good thing !!! yes. the native did attack captain cook but to his credit he forgave them ! and then he shared all the british ways like how to eat and build houses ! its people like him who are the heros of NZ and the rest of the world. you need to show respect moving forward !

Why didn’t Europeans merge together back in the day instead of dividing into different nations.
