At the festival’s youth concert, I think five of the six performers said they discovered ragtime through my videos of Tom sightreading video game music. That was the point of making those videos, so Mission Accomplished!
Tom's Yoshi's Island video is still the most comforting video on this entire site to me, seeing this 15 years later feels so strange but so welcome, too. Its nice to see this channel still posting!
That Ludwig was wonderful to play, wasn't too powerful as far as sound goes and had a very weak G above middle C but otherwise was so much fun to play. Great action on it, very light, perfect for my playing!
Thanks man! Good lord, I wish I hadn't started to overplay later on though xD I sped myself up by mistake. I'm glad Ron got this on video though, not a whole lot of good footage from that festival in my case.
Same story here! I was 13 or 14 when I started watching Ron's videos of Tom playing! I can match his improv on some levels but heck I can't play in all the keys like Tom could xD
Hey, i just started learning this song! but its a little different arrangement, more like tomb brier's adaptation! you're channel introduced me to ragtime, and i thank you!
I remember Tom playing that. I wish I could play it. I can play the castle one. Maybe, I could send you a video so you could show it Tom if you see him.
@@Keeper1st And yeah the C key problem is starting to bite back these days. At least I can pick up tunes really quick and improv on them sort of like Tom could xD Max can't quite do THAT yet (though I'm poking at him to get started)
@@PiotrBarczYour rhythm is so good! Are you watching your left hand with your left eye and your right hand with your right? Or is the key so automatic you can just watch your right hand?
That piano's uhh... not doing so good there. Absolute pro status on the keys though, and glad we have a reason to come back here. I was just thinking of him.
It's not the rhythm it's the tuning. So many of those chords should have been ringing but they just... didn't. His increase in tempo would've sounded amazing if the damn thing was actually in tune.
@@PiotrBarcz try playing with a metronome to see what I mean..you slowly speed up and slow down are different times. Pushing and pulling can be good sometimes but here it seems off. Great job regardless. Just my critique
@@lamelame1779 Yeah I do play a lot with a metronome and I try to play as evenly as I can. A few times here when I played arpeggios I basically let my right hand do whatever it wants so long as the notes were there which basically means the left hand is sitting there making noise until the arpeggio is over. There are spots where I'll speed up or slow down minutely otherwise. Overall I generally speed up as I play but there's also spots where it'll sound like the tempo is changing but I won't actually change the tempo, the left hand tenths are a good example. I'll break them harder and quicker which will sometimes sound like I suddenly sped up the tempo in relation to the swing when in fact it's just an interval change. Check out some of the videos on my channel and see what you think, those are probably a better example of my playing as far as technicalities go because I'm incredibly inconsistent in public.
Woah.... it's ME? :D
Great job bud, it sounded great and I'm a player myself.
Nice job Piotr!!!!!!!!!
Did you guys talk in Japanese
Awesome.

I still listen to Tom's version to this day :,)

Ron told me he had back surgery and he's not in constant pain anymore, that's pretty good news I'd say.
@@PiotrBarcz any news from him? Hope he's doing okay! The fact that the website is down plus the now-old news of surgery have got me worried.
He's doing good, Ron had surgery to fix a pinched nerve and he's looking pretty good, I was chatting with him during this last festival.
cant get enough of ragtime renditions of music from my favorite games growing up thanks for sharing this!
I’ve been watching this channel since I was 5 and now I’m 21!!! Man this brings back the memories:)

Wow can't believe this guy is finally recognized. He is such a talented musician.
