Agreed. I don’t even spend a lot of time on Instagram (and I do mute a lot of people) and I don’t even really “compare” yet I feel so much calmer and at peace mentally when I don’t go there; it frees up time for reading, listening to music, being quiet… I feel like you slow down when you’re not scrolling.
By the way, highly recommend the book “In praise of slowness” by Carl Honore. Written almost 20 years ago but STILL COMPLETELY RELEVANT and makes you aware we don’t need to rush everything

Hi Rachel, I did social media detox too and I felt so much better. I'm just here in youtube because it doesn't reallt affect me that much. I compared myself to others too, now I learned that when I catch myself getting envious of someone's life I try to look at the whole picture. I look at the whole aspect of their life their health, family, relationships, work and life balance. Then I ask myself I want all those things for myself too, then the answer is always no. Are you me?? Omg I’ve been such a difficult child growing up because I always compared myself to others, esp my peers. It’s such a toxic trait and I’m glad that after much practice, I’ve stopped doing it. When I do catch myself thinking such thoughts, at least I’m aware and try to be kind to myself and accept that it still happens. Practicing gratitude has been such a gamechanger for me too!

The comparison omg is so relatable. I also compare myself to others specially on how I look cos I got a bit of weight and having a hard time on losing weight. It messes with me too like instead of walking I just scroll.

you’re my favorite youtuber and have been for the last four months or so! your vlogs are relaxing and gets me in a calm, productive mood. i’m doing the same thing with the handmaid’s tale, it took sooo long for the last season to come out that i got over it so now i’m waiting til it’s all released to watch it or else i’ll never watch it again. i also love that i have a cat that’s literally vinnys twin (mine even has the same spot on the nose! lol)

Totally agree with you about a social media detox! Great idea. When I see models, etc. on IG I remind myself that it's their job to look good. If I had 40 hours a week to spend with a personal trainer, chef, stylist, etc. then I could look like I stepped off the runway too. Thanks for keeping it real. Love the vlogs! 😊

In August I deleted all of my social media accounts and it was the best decision I've made in a very long time. Never once did I regret doing it, either. I don't miss social media at all.

When I saw don't worry darling I literally was just like this is a thirst trap for florence and harry fans and thats it LOL, still liked the premise but if you look up there was an alternate like "ending" where halfway through alice realizes what is going on and the last half of the movie is her like navigating that and trying to escape but pretending to not know. I think that would have been more interesting and more thrilling. Harry did look handsome though 😁

I totally know how you feel when it comes to Instagram. Deleting my IG account in February has been the best decision for me this year. I can see how I have more time, I feel more focused, concentrated, I don't compare myself to other people that much and I'm more relaxed overall. Even though deleting an account might be too extreme for an influencer, I highly recommend having some breaks from super-stimulating social media.
