One of my favorite ST songs depressing subject matter but so beautiful and as someone who’s battled depression all my life and lost my own son to it this one really hits me.
This song is soul crushing i want to cry every time i hear it

This song is about suicide (bandage up the trenches), Atlantic is referencing the Ocean, OR a shipwreck of the SS Atlantic.
Once you get into their lyrics, it's all connected, and it's all interpretation. I personally feel the story he is telling is one of a tragedy he caused, he begs his god for help, he gets no answer, and he starts questioning his faith, and struggles immensely with it. In the end, he turns toward the spiritual, and let's go of being a puppet for that god. He finds his own way, forgives himself, and can move on.
He talks so much about chemistry and physics, which is all tied to the universe and spirituality.

I believe theres a running theme that he was in a car crash, not sure if he was the driver or passenger.

Great reaction as always! You mentioned “little details” when it comes to ST songs and this song is obviously no different. The subject matter of this song is crazy depressing and what makes ST songs so brilliant is the use of instrumentation and sounds to really enhance that. For example, at 2:52 of the song, you’ll notice the deep drop in the music and I interpret that as a body hitting the water after jumping or being dropped. Then at 3:06, you’ll hear Vessel hit that falsetto and I interpret that as the person that hit the water finally getting back up to the surface of the water and heavily exhaling. And you obviously mention and cite many other details that correlate to the water. As mentioned, these guys are incredibly talented and detailed and are worthy of everybody’s ears. Worship.

There are a lot of interpretations of the known lore with this one, the most common being the tale of of a self-deletion attempt (waking up surrounded by eyes like frozen planets etc). I believe "blue light over murder" is referencing emergency transport to a hospital?? I'm sure people will correct me if I've got that wrong. This is one of my absolute faves so thank you!
Also "bandage up the trenches" with the trenches being a metaphor for the cut marks

You interperate it yourself and what it means to you. Everyone gets so caught up on "official meanings" but even they don't know because it's NOT official, it's just how they feel.
Every sleep token song can have a different way it hits each person and what it means to them. There is no "this is what it is". Sure, to you maybe.
