I have seen 2 of these in action. Both were used to pull large Frigstad plows in north central Montana. One belonged to my grandpa & uncle & the other was owned by a farmer I worked for through the summers in high school. They could pull on both tracks in the corners, making them ideal for ag use. Grandpa also had a TD18. Cool to see one still working.

Love watching that machine! Wish I could fix that blade every time I watch it. Makes sense to spend the time to fix it as you explained the mileage factor. Everyone cleans ditches here with a excavator but the ditches never dry out. Then you have to push out the spoils back into the field, disc it and then pick up the trash before you can actually start field work. Great video Jeff.

We had one on the farm, if memory serves me right, was bought army surplus, my uncle and them re-painted it IH red,, very cool machine, big ass seat could put one tract in one gear, the other side in a different, worked great building Levies, as they roll with contour of the land, when all the farm equipment was auctioned off in the 80’s it still worked like brand new , sold for $1000, wish i would have bought it ,

C&C gets in a lot of ex military machines from auctions. He says they might be old in years, but tend to have low hours and no cost spared maintenance. This D7G is over 30 years old, but has only 2000 hours on it: ruclips.net/video/WtqWPQrVjEA/видео.html

What a great video. They are getting better and better. Any lumps that fall over the back of that blade are instantly crushed out of sight with the tracks forming a neat trench sidewall. Can’t be any cheaper way of doing that job. Dozer sounds awesome.

I like the old TD IH's, I have an old 1943 T9 that I cleared the property with back in 1994-5. That's about the last time its ever been run. It has a BAD case of the "All Overs". It was my father-in-law's. Bless his heart, one track was on backwards and one track frame was hanging on for dear life. He was an old farmer from South Dakota and had chained the track frame to the equalizer bar. LOL That maybe why one track is on backwards to keep the other track from spitting off. LOL
Great Video tell everyone I said hay.
Well I had a ton of questions but I think you answered them all. I was most supersized by the way you cut the canal back. After doing it a few years ya kinda figure it out. I'da had the bottom hacked up and looking like the ski mogul run at the Winter Olympics. I'm that damn good. 🤦

That old TD24 is really cool! Is it gas or diesel? I live in north central Washington state in okanogan County. My grandfather put a lot of the old roads in the mountains around here with a dozer back in the logging haydays. One picture I have seen showed him cutting in a road on the side of a mountain in rock and shale, I am sure the pucker factor was high. It was way off in the distance so it is hard to tell what make of dozer he was running but it was open cab and looked a lot like that TD24. My Dad said they would park them on steep hill sides and coast start them. Would have like to have meet my grandfather I guess he was quite the operator.

  • @ahabeger

other than the planetary steering any other reason why the TD does the ditch work?
did kommatsu keep the planetary steering or did that go to Dresta? I'd enjoy a video of what you know are the differences between bulldozers and what situations each one is better for. Help the young guys looking to buy their first.

Worked with USMC to build this mine clearing machine - the plastic sheet on the plow really helps the soil slide across the surface. The British company "Pearson Engineering" said that they learned this from some local farmers. I believe I have seen some turning plows built this way but many people don't use turning plows anymore. ruclips.net/video/xUUcIxpZrGY/видео.html. Maybe try this on the blade of the TD-24?
