Aaron's builds are the only ones I use. I've tried others but their guides aren't as well developed. I've built this building 3 times on 3 different maps. I normally just use an Argy, so putting up all those pillars and walls can be brutal. I've fallen off ladders a time or two lol. My most recent is in Fjordur by the blue obelisk. I'm currently replacing all the stone with metal, and the wood around the top with glass walls. This thing is so spacious that I've added all the comforts of home within. It's my go-to build. Thanks for all the awesome videos.
As annoying as it is, He does it to balance the pillars. Ive rebuilt this same pen probably a dozen times, Once in all metal. Ive tried to skip the thatch ceilings. Pillars were all jacked up.
I think if you destroy one, place the stone ceiling to the height it should be, then your should be able to keep attaching the stone ceiling without destroying the thatch ones. Keep in mind tho, it’ll mean an extra snap point when placing the walls to the ground
For anyone trying to follow this amazing build video in their game, the walls around the perimeter (seen completed at 17:59) are 12 high, not 13. ♥ (Also, on the aviary on the top, it's a gap of 7 ceilings, not 8 XD)
@@Synertry_ I know it’s been a month but I’d like to say that tapejara are probably the best for building up high, because they can fly in all directions without turning they allow you to build stuff midair with relative ease.
I just made this in survival and now I have carpel tunnel. I hope to never have to destroy another thatch roof ever again. I built this on a big slope so my outer walls were so high up and the pillar foundations were terrible to build. I both love you and hate you. Keep up the great work sir.

A truly brilliant, yet strangely challenging (because of its height) build. Had to use my argentavis and bronto to reach the top layers of each wall. Making this the main part of our small tribes compound, with some of other builds to complement this. Thanks for sharing, creating, and explaining everything so well. It should be noted that this build requires a LOT of stone and wood.

If u want another suggestion, Gg fizz made a large base with alot of dino storage stuff, it was his tall tower one (i cant remeber the title) maybe something like that as a tutorial? Im struggling to find good tutorals to build a large space and you explain it so well and i can follow along, his video was just a timelapse. I think its called pve base build design idea, its the two story one

The thing I've come to really detest with most other ARK videos is that the publisher posts a 30 minute video of them showing their character and I have to sit here and listen to some bullshit story about how they found the dinosaur they are riding or asking for the view to leave a like and subscribe. But with your videos there is NONE of that. It is straight to the point, bullet points/notes to explain the steps and the music doesn't kill my ears. Thank you so much for the effort you are putting into these tutorials. You've earned my sub and like.
This problem isn't exclusive to ARK videos. RUclipsrs routinely fluff their videos to make them at least 10 minutes long. Videos of over 10 minutes are more likely to appear higher on search query results, which means more views, which means more ad revenue. Whenever you see a "Top 5 best dinos" video that is 15 minutes long, for example, avoid it. Chances are, the creator used bullshit fluff tactics they learned while writing high school essays.
@@AaronLongstaff my walls arent lining up, there is an increasing gap between the ones on the thatch and the ones from the foundations. all my foundations snapped together so im not undersatanding why this is happening.

I made this on official, 5 years ago, it was one of my favorite builds, not that A:sa is out I am remaking it again. While some building parts have been renamed, I am excited for it. Anyone know if this is even possible on official pve? As in I can do the roof without needing support and filling the whole inside of the pen with pillars? I’m asking bc I have most of it don’t and just barely realized this might be an issue

Yes exactly either use a flyer or bronto's work well the other option is to build thatch structures to help you up or ladders that can be demolished once complete
I'm a bit late to answer but an Archaeopteryx is a builder's best friend. I just built a large bridge in the Deathsands in Ragnarök and I couldn't have done it without him. They're super easy to tame, too - they eat chitin of all things.

I know I'm late here, but this is great! I'm working on my own variation of this combining it with the multipurpose pen for my single player account. I've already built my own variation of the aviary and some beginner builds. I want to try my first tree house and boat build afterwards. I've only been playing for a few months and i always struggle with knowing how to start something new. These builds really help to give me a solid "foundation" for my bases and outposts. Thank you!👍

Yeah I know how the editing process feels my editing isn’t as good as yours but it still takes forever since I still haven’t built my pc yet(I do it on a iPad and it’s ridiculously slow) Edit- when I build on uneven terrain I just make a base using pillars, ceilings and walls
If i can somehow get the stone pillars to go up to 13 high, I might try placing a modified version of Aaron's large house with stables (but without the stables) inside this pen centered on the dino gate. Tribe member living space with indoor dino pen.

When building the walls around the remaining parts of the building after the entrance is done you say go up 13 wall but I think you ment 12. The pillars where to short when I built it. Still an amazing addition

I have been building this on dedicated and I've been having trouble getting the same snap as you, on the part where you start adding roof 16:19, it doesn't seem to let me centre it like you have. there is always a gap between one side and the wall. when you start adding walls, going up, did you snap them to the wall below or the celling (ground floor) ?
I know this is a year ago but did you ever figure this out? I am on this exact part right now and having the exact same issue. Tried viewing it at 0.25x speed and still can't get it to what he is doing.

How are you suppose to place the stone pillars without using a cheat to fly? Does a flying dino work?

I'm a bit late to answer but an Archaeopteryx is a builder's best friend. I just built a large bridge in the Deathsands in Ragnarök and I couldn't have done it without him. They're super easy to tame, too - they eat chitin of all things.
I guess I'm the only one complaining about this being so hard to build? xD I've been at it for two hours already. This is torture ;-; BUT I WANT THIS SO MUCH. Halfway through the vid, can't wait to have it built 🙌🏼

I know I'm late here, but this is great! I'm working on my own variation of this combining it with the multipurpose pen for my single player account. I've already built my own variation of the aviary and some beginner builds. I want to try my first tree house and boat build afterwards.
I've only been playing for a few months and i always struggle with knowing how to start something new. These builds really help to give me a solid "foundation" for my bases and outposts.

Haha thats it!!!........ Seriously though 2 weeks on holiday and the video took forever to make and edit, because of the base part it can be build on uneven ground using the technique in the video
Yeah I know how the editing process feels my editing isn’t as good as yours but it still takes forever since I still haven’t built my pc yet(I do it on a iPad and it’s ridiculously slow)
Edit- when I build on uneven terrain I just make a base using pillars, ceilings and walls

If i can somehow get the stone pillars to go up to 13 high, I might try placing a modified version of Aaron's large house with stables (but without the stables) inside this pen centered on the dino gate. Tribe member living space with indoor dino pen.

When building the walls around the remaining parts of the building after the entrance is done you say go up 13 wall but I think you ment 12. The pillars where to short when I built it. Still an amazing addition

To make the behemoth gates easier. Ya can use the wood foundations, they snap to em just like the dino gates. So they are perfectly center.

Finally finished this one but made it out of Tek..Ermahgerd!!!! I had to farm the alpha manticore so many times to make this lol. Worth it though. Came out awesome!!! Thanks for the guide.

I have been building this on dedicated and I've been having trouble getting the same snap as you, on the part where you start adding roof 16:19, it doesn't seem to let me centre it like you have. there is always a gap between one side and the wall.
when you start adding walls, going up, did you snap them to the wall below or the celling (ground floor) ?
I know this is a year ago but did you ever figure this out? I am on this exact part right now and having the exact same issue. Tried viewing it at 0.25x speed and still can't get it to what he is doing.

Hey Mr. Aaron! Good build. But I noticed a typo that caught me running around with my head cut off! I believe it’s supposed to be 12 stone walls around the sides and back. Just giving you a heads up. And to anyone building this! May the ark gods be with you!

At 18:00 I looked to check and I saw 12 instead of 13 because the column height seemed odd to me compared to the wall height
