I also use a ribbon but I have marked my like a measuring tape. I will advance my project until it is just before the breastbeam and then add a new pin just under the fell line, remove the old pin. Then I am using just the single marked ribbon for all 5-10 projects.
Great video! If i have a project that needs measuring, I usually start measuring after it is wound onto the take up beam a few times...whoops! "and I forgot again." Maybe I just need to measure all projects. I do like the idea of of the safety pin, never thought of that. Cheers!!
I use a tape measure and move straight pins, as I go. Is this not good enough? The tape measure is not wound onto the roller with the cloth. Also, I add 5% for warp "untensioning" off the loom.
Hi Kari! That sounds like an excellent plan to me! I think that's part of the beauty of weaving is that there are many ways to achieve the same results!
Hey Chris, I know it has been a year, but do you know where you got the sage, rose and camel yarns on the shelf immediately behind you to the left? I know, I know, but a colorist has to try! :-D Thank you for any thought you put into this oddball request. Also, great video!
@@ActonCreative thank you! I just noticed the sage green looks more like grey on this screen, so that is still fine but may be more correct. I have so much fun mentally playing with your colors. :-)
@@jackiecauthron-schafer9554Jackie, it looks like the green is a Shetland wool in an olive color. The camel-colored yarn didn't have a tag, but I would guess it's a mohair. The rose-colored yarn is a chenille (mostly rayon) with a "burgundy" label. It looks more cranberry-ish in person. I'm sorry I couldn't give you more details! But, I definitely like these 3 colors together! Very fun!
@@ActonCreativeoh my gosh, thank you! That will make it easier to try to find them. That was above a beyond and I really appreciate your taking the time. Thank you, Chris. 😊
Thanks!
@@jackiecauthron-schafer9554 That's so kind - thank you, Jackie!
I use gros grain ribbon, it does not stretch as yarn often does.
Margaret, what a great idea! Thank you!

@@jdieselette Oh, how cool! I would love to see this in action! Thank you for sharing!
I have also used gros grain ribbon (white) that I mark with a sharpie

@@ActonCreative I'm a 1yr newbie to weaving, and am still looking at all hints & tips, from people like yourself.
