LoH: TitS - Sophisticated Fight (Battle Theme), Mario Paint Composer

In celebration of the localization of the Sora no Kiseki series, here's the main battle theme for Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (also known as Eiyuu Densetsu VI: Sora no Kiseki FC in Japan). The piece was originally composed by the Falcom JDK band. This was done by ear through listening to the OST; the program itself is Mario Paint Composer v1.0.
Sora no Kiseki (Trails in the Sky) originally came out in Japan in 2004, but didn't come out 'til this year due to the sheer amount of text in the game that deterred almost every localization effort. XSEED finally stepped up to the gargantuan task, and it was released March 29th 2011, 5+ years after the game originally was released in Japan.
I've never done jazzy stuff before, and this piece is jazz all the way, with tons of syncopated rhythms. The hardest part of this piece was trying to figure out what the heck the percussion was doing half the time. XP The bass line is a bit more prominent than in the original version as well, since I can't control volumes of individual instruments on the same line without affecting all the other notes. I had a lot of fun with this piece, though--hopefully it worked out alright!
