    Hi there! I made these today and followed the exact recipe without changing a thing and it came out perfect! These cookies don’t need freezing before baking. It does spread out a wee bit but holds its shape very well. I used the 1M Wilton nozzle and it came out very pretty ☺️ thank you so much! Love all the way from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

    I am definitely adding these to my holiday baked goods!🧁 Unfortunately purchasing presents for everyone is out of the question this year as I have to cut hours due to chemotherapy. I have decided that baked goods is what everyone is getting...thank you for the recipe! 👍

    My children said thankyou they are so yum ... I watch your videos and follow your recipes your my little ones best friend there only aloud s sweet at the weekend due to hyperactive ...but biscuits cakes and sweet bakes keep them happy 🧸👍

    Thank you for you amazing recipe. I changing from unsalted butter to salt butter the test was great too! And I frigde cookie dough for 1 hrs because I don’t have a piping bag. So, I chill it and cut the dough instead and everything still great!! Thank you again and sorry for my poor english.❤️

    I don't know what I did wrong but boy did I goof somewhere! That beautiful dough would not pipe without me practically breaking my wrist and thumb. I even added a splash of milk and a bit more butter to loosen the dough but, nope, no luck.
    I will refrigerate it then roll it out and use some cookie cutters.

    Yummm looks so good! I tried other recipes with cornstarch and powdered sugar but it doesn't hold their shapes, they're good melt in the mouth but not appealing to the eye. Did you freeze before baking? Thanks

    Questions: What is done with the vegetable shortening/crisco? I think you said use an non-greased cookie sheet;
    Why just the egg yolk?; and how many cookies/dozen does your recipe make approximately?

      The shortening is optional, it just helps with the texture and sheen of the chocolate. A whole egg is a bit much for the cookies so you just want to use an egg. This recipe will make about 2 dozen. Enjoy! 😊

      Honestly I usually don’t for this recipe because it’s not super important to me, but if you want to ensure a nice streak free appearance your best bet is to temper the chocolate. 😊

      I honestly haven’t tried it to be able to say for sure. I think you’d need to reduce some flour and add the cocoa powder but it’s really hard to give you amounts without having done it. 😔 if you do try it I would love to know how it turns out. 😊

    I just finished baking these cookies. Mine couldn't come out of the piping tip, I not sure what I did wrong. I used a cookie cutter. I also leave them in the oven a little longer, big mistake. They got a little crunchy . I love these cookies even though I messed it up. I saved half of the cookie dough and I will bake it the correct time. You guys have to try them. This is nothing like store bought. It's soooooo much better.

      I’m so glad you enjoyed overall! Did you try the 827 tip, it’s the only one that I’ve been able to pipe well with, anything smaller is just too difficult.

      I used the same tip and still couldn’t get them to come out. Dough is too thick

      @@Binkyandant I used a Wilton 1M, then an Ateco 8, then finally just cut the end off a piping bag. Dough was way too thick. Set the piping bag on the stove and FINALLY got it to pipe but didn't keep shape while baking. Did taste good but ugly cookies. My first attempt at a recipe from this site...

    I love these cookies! When I made these the first time it was perfectly delicious! Second time tell me why they spread on oven so much? Why? Maybe because my butter was way to soft! Help 😮

      Oh no! Yes, if your butter was super soft/melty, that could definitely be the cause. Or if you piped the dough onto hot cookie sheets 😕

      There may not be enough flour in the dough and that's not going to be easy to correct unfortunately. :(

    Hi so I really like your recipe for butter cookies. I’ve been trying to find the right one that works. I don’t have piping bags and when I tried to make my own bag it doesn’t work. I have seen other people put the dough in plastic wrap and then put in the refrigerator. And then after a while take it out and then cut it. Would that work with your recipe?.

      Have you tried a gallon sized baggie? Then you just snip the corner off. I haven’t tried the refrigerator technique so I’m not sure how it would go.

      A person could even use a fine tip and swirl the frosting in circles all around the cookie, then sprinkles.

      I wouldn't recommend just leaving it out and I haven't tried a substitute to know exactly how it will go. :(

      You can substitute some of the granulated sugar with brown sugar. If you use too much the cookies may not retain their shape as well due to the moisture in the brown sugar. ☺️

    I tried this recipe but the dough was not as soft as yours. It wouldn't pipe so I had to use a cookie cutter for it. Idk what or where I went wrong.

      Hmm do you weigh your ingredients? There may have been a little too much flour

      @@SugarSpunRun no I didn't weigh them because I don't have a kitchen scale. So I spooned the flour into the cup and then leveled it off. I couldn't even use my hand mixer in there when I added the flour to the batter. ☹ I ended up using my spatula to mix in the flour.

    Troubleshooting: What if my butter cookies are melting in the oven? Is that from too soft butter or not enough flour?

      There are a couple of things that could be causing the issue. I would start with the flour. Most likely there isn’t enough flour. If the butter was warm enough it may cause the issue here but that’s probably not your issue here. Also make sure you aren’t putting them on a hot pan. I hope this helps. 😊

    Can someone please recommend a nonstick/silicone baking mat? Not necessarily any of the more expensive brand name ones.

    I don’t understand you say 2 egg yolks 4 tea spoon salt but your receipt says 1 yolk Halt tea spoon salt why you have different.

      I’m not sure there is quite an equivalent. The closest is probably a 1m, but it’s a little smaller and piping can be very difficult. If someone else finds one I would love to know about it. 😊
