  • This diy floor lamp build is my latest woodworking project. I was asked to make a rgb mood lamp to stand in a corner and I have always wanted to make a lamp related to the Balrog from lord of the rings movie and so I decided that this is a good opportunity to try to make it.
The space this led lamp has to stand in is rather limited but something as iconic as Balrog has to be eye-catching and to do that I made it as tall as possible. This maximizes the lighted up area which helps to achieve that.
The face is made out of a single sheet of birch plywood and is kerf bent. The leg is just a simple piece of timber with a rectangular cross section and the base is a simple piece of concrete. In total it uses 4,5 m of rgb led strips and the lamp is controlled with an SP108E led controller that works with an app.
You can find more information about the build from my instructables link: bit.ly/3b2R74u
