As someone coming from the Army, his military records are incredible - disowned by his family for not following family military tradition (his father was an Air Force Major General and grandfather was an army officer), he was an Army Captain, an army ranger, an army pilot, was offered to teach at West Point (which he declined) - all of which were his steppingstones to where he belongs best - acting, singing, and songwriting where he excelled superbly.
sad his OWN FAMILY turned on him and exact such a penalty for entertaining MILLIONS instead of killing thousands.
Although not on this site, I could listen to 'Why Me Lord?' forever....as a woman in recovery for 27 yrs., having left Jesus for some years and then coming back to Him, this song has such a great true meaning...thank you..

As a photojournalist based in Florida from the 1980s through the early two thousand, I meet and photographer Kris Kristofferson at a small club on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. I waited untill 2 or three in the morning to photograph him backstage. He could not have been any better of a human being, patient, kind, and welcoming. He reminded me of @BarryMcGuire, the same kind of people. Wishing both him and Barry all the best!
He never claimed to be a singer, but I love his voice nonetheless. He is absolutely the best songwriter ever and his songs are much more meaningful being sung by him than others. Thank you, Kris, for all the enjoyment you've given to thousands of people all over the world.

I have listened to Mr. Kristofferson since LP Albums were the only option . They were all replaced with 8 track , cassette , CD and then digital. His music has accompanied my life and continues to be a joy !

just love this guy , I had the great pleasure of interviewing him at a concert here in Ireland , it must be around 10 maybe even 11 years ago in fact it may have been even earlier , I recorded his song LOVING HER WAS EASIER AND RELEASED A VIDEO THIS WEEK , He is my legend along with the great willie Nelson and the Hag , just love the american country music
I like your style in music,it speaks volumes about a person's choice in music,for good ol' Kris belongs with the great poets of all time! When a person writes and sings from the bottom of his heart and soul,and relates to your own,well now that's poetry! It least it is to me on this side of the border due to deportation from my beloved Oceanside which I can only see in my fond memories! The last judge I faced in Federal court which sentenced me to ten years just based from my 1984 conviction,assult with a fire arm ,due to three punks mugging,and beating my old drunk uncle! Shoot,even the judge who oversaw that conviction personally stated to me in open court,that when a family member becomes a victim of cowards,it is our due duty to act! I shit you not! That's why he was lienient and sentenced me to five years,now put that one on your pipe and smoke it,and tell me how the smoke rises! Peace,and thank you for sharing!

I think Kris K. is original in every way. He did his thing in the US Army and with a heavy load he felt he needed to follow his real dream by hitch-hiking around the world singing, playing and hoping somewhere along the way, his number would be called and finally, it happened! The rest is history. Now he is a senior citizen and I wish him great recognition into his sunset.

I found kris due to movie Blade the told he his a singer gospel song and research him he is a Educated person that’s why Iike and loved
Rhodes Scholar , Oxford, Degrees from West Point/offered a Teaching position there but His Dreamline lay elsewhere...and we are all the Richer for that decision. He paid out, and played out his heart, soul... weaving words to lyrics, lyrics to some of the most Memorable songs and poems of our lifetimes and shared them w/us all. The spotlight centerstage...he turned it around to shine on Life and some of the 'actors" most of us would turn our backs to, bringing them back to our occasional condemnation which Kris would 'kneecap" and bare for our hypocrisy...Showing us, through his richly woven tapestry of lyrics, the Rights and the Wrongs, and the confusion when they sometimes meet. He stays True to his beliefs, even when others would snipe at his Standing for what he believes, there for those people whose voice had been hushed....whether they were in Central America...or First Nations Rez in the 48 states.
