You missed out the most important reason why Liverpool is signing Federico Chiesa. It's also probably why FSG targeted Arne Slot in the first place. “We went through the same data process for Nunez as with other players. I wanted to make sure that everyone knew what a big change it would be with Nunez. It was more, ‘Are we sure we’re going to make the best use of him?’." "We always had a list of ‘great players but not for Liverpool’. Defensive full-backs, target men, crossing wingers - we just didn’t play in that style. It was clear that Nunez was a No 9." “I wouldn’t say that the data said no to Nunez. It’s more ‘if we sign this player we have to understand this is the role we’ve seen him be effective in and is there currently a slot for him in our squad?’. And if you’re spending a large amount of money on a player then he has to start. The worst thing you can do is buy a squad player and spend money that could be out there on the pitch.” - Ian Graham (Athletic interview) This is extremely enlightening. Think about this, Diaz is a better dribbler and ball carrier than a goal-scorer, the opposite of Mane. Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Elliot, and Szobozlai are more technical and creative players than the more workman and destroyer type midfielders of Fabinho, Henderson and Wijnaldum. And finally, let's not forget how much of an opposite Nunez is to Firmino. Since Edwards left, Klopp has been recruiting players that suit Slot's style more than it suited the style that was Klopp's most formidable Liverpool side and won his biggest trophies. I'm beginning to understand why Slot prefers Diaz over Gakpo on the left wing. Gakpo plays more like Mane as an inverted goal-scoring left forward than ball-carrying winger and creator. Salah's numbers are too good to drop him and transition him to the kind of right winger Slot wants for now but let's not kid ourselves. Chiesa is a sign of what Slot wants in his right winger. The same kind of winger Diaz is. The kind of profile Anthony Gordon is. All these are ultimately in service of getting the absolute maximum out of Darwin Nunez in the long run. Jota is very clinical and does play like a goal poaching no. 9 but he still has a great deal of football intelligence and links up play well, almost in between the false 9 Firmino and the true 9 of Darwin. But it's clear Slot's long term plans is to have a true no. 9 at the tip of his attack and if Darwin isn't going to be that man, he's going to find someone else to replace him and Jota to fire in the bullets Diaz and Chiesa are gonna load for him.

Lastly, this feels like another Author Melo situation. Both Melo and Chiesa played in top clubs previously, and both have a history of injuries. I hope Chiesa works out, he seems exciting. Will see
We have Gakpo and Diaz. I don’t think we need to add someone who plays LW. Either shares minutes with Salah or let him slide. We just got rid of Carvalho for heavens sake
I'm all in with Chiesa. My only doubt is about his tactical intelligence. Is he a flair player who can produce magical moments but struggles in a tactical setup? Look at his previous two coaches. Massimiliano Allegri and Thiago Motta. Both are very tactically inclined coaches. Especially Allegri. And they do not appear to think highly of him. Slot wants his team to follow a precise tactical structure. So, how will Chiesa fare in Liverpool's new look?
Good point w/rgds to tactical acclimatisation. Hopefully Slot will be able to coach him in that aspect, Chiesa is technically superb. If Slot manages too, my oh my it'll be an incredible addition.
Allegri was not tactical he was just a parking the bus guy, and Chiesa didn't like that and he made it very clear more than one time publicly, but Allegri, even if he was annoyed by it, had to play him. Motta on the other hand.....yes maybe he wants a more system player rather than a more egoistical player like Chiesa...but really, i think it has more to do with juve wanting to sell him and not lose him for free in january and them not wanting to renew his contract for more money, that's really it, i don't buy the fact that Motta didn't like him at all, as he never said that himself. As far as tactics goes, i think Chiesa is so versatile and can play in some many positions that even if he is not the best player to stick to a specific set of rules, if managed properly can still be the perfect tactical jolly to use when and where you need him.
I think its more interesting to see explicit distinction between his stats BEFORE and AFTER the ACL injury.... There is a large gamble element to the purchase...
Another Liverpool business deal, buy a player who has potential to be good but is very injury prone. So we buy players like this in the hopes we can make them class players and keep them injury free, jota origi and matip are probably our best players that fit in that category, Thiago was good for 20 mins a season, everyone else, oxlade, shaq, Gomez, kante, all shite, not consistently good enough, so we buy him for him to sit in somewhere between them?
Melo is also available - we might just do a double sweep, a? This is a clueless transfer to "boost" the zone where we have the most quality... And you say he's cheap now, but how about 5 years at 150k pw.... It just makes zero sense to me, he adds NOTHING
Will feel enthusiastic about Him joining the team when/if the guy pass the much required MEDICAL TEST since he already suffered a major set back a couple of years ago... till then 🙄

The way you have explained it feels he is better than Pele 😂
We've signed Chiesa, can we have the video please
Great business 👏🏾
@@serialdigit yes. I am hoping Slot bring the carve out a star of him. He has all the raw materials.
Nice vids but OMG the RUclips accent...
*Undoubtedly, not undoubtably.
I think its more interesting to see explicit distinction between his stats BEFORE and AFTER the ACL injury.... There is a large gamble element to the purchase...
Schulist Springs
It is a done deal already
Let him at least pass his medical first lol 🤞🏾
Chiesa to Liverpool not a bad choice
Alvin Ayman done deal. Soon Rio Ngumoha. Buy club 😂😂
Will feel enthusiastic about Him joining the team when/if the guy pass the much required MEDICAL TEST since he already suffered a major set back a couple of years ago... till then 🙄
They have just signed Salah's replacement
When did salah leave liverpool??
Bargain of the window Liverpool will be great for him
First view comment and like
crazy how the nerds cook, but they cook the wrong dishes... cook the DM and CB and RB... Ait Nuuri is still waiting
Martin Robert Taylor Amy White Joseph
Injury prone..
The only saving grace to this signing is the price we are paying for him. Every single thing about him raise a red flag
