  • Caitlin Clark, a former Iowa star, will play the Indiana Fever at Target Center for the first time this season. The game is expected to draw an expected sellout of 18,978, the biggest regular-season crowd in franchise history. The single biggest revenue day in Lynx history is Sunday, with gate revenue exceeding $1 million. The Clark effect is well-documented, with average road attendance for WNBA games being 15,591 when the Fever were in town, and nine of the top 10 watched games involving the Fever.

Filling stadiums should also matter when selecting for ROY. Imo.

I wouldn't like a player to win from stadium attendance but skill alone. That's just how I'd like it 😊

If the “momentum was already building” and it’s the buzz from the “whole rookie class”, then the best teams from the biggest markets would be getting all the top attendance records right? Why is every attendance record broken this year have the Fever, aka Caitlin Clark, playing? Wishing that CC isn’t why so many more people are now interested in the WNBA this year, won’t make it true. Just go look at the attendance and ticket prices for all the teams last year and compare when CC is playing this year. CC is the reason for the charter flights for every team this year. CC is the reason for the sold out regular season games she plays in and the huge increase in ticket prices over last year. I calculate that the home team for every game CC plays in gets over $1 million (from ticket sales alone) more each game than they did just 1 year ago. No other player has moved the needle like CC has in the history of the WNBA.

She’s definitely a great player. She lifts the crowd up. She lifts her team up to play better and I bet she can write some places

Dude, you are completely FOOLED by listening to what Coach Cheryl Reeves provided in this video. Reeves (Becky Hammond as well) has been belittling Caitlin Clark’s accomplishments and has been hypercritical of her game. Whether it be during press conferences or the tweets they like to send (that suddenly have been deleted), they clearly were meant to conceal the political games played in how the Olympic team was chosen. Although there was an unprecedented number of similar tweets from players, I certainly don’t have as much of an issue with them as most athletes follow the lead of their coaches.
In any other professional sports league, coaches do not allow other coaches to speak negatively toward a player that is not on their team. For some reason, this league does not seem to have an issue with that. In their defense though, the attacks started before the player was even drafted to a team.
This league which has not made a dollar, has an incredible window of opportunity to completely change the reputation, fan interest, media visibility and turn the league into a cash cow in which everybody (players, coaches, owners and the pockets of NBA players) benefits. It certainly can be the foundation for the league to last beyond our years.
However, there needs to be some changes in the entire organization to have the right kind of management that knows how to take advantage of an opportunity. Taking that next step will require coaches that know how to develop players, not only as athletes but also by showing them how to succeed and carry themselves as a professional athletes. I am not knocking the coaches in the league right now as I am certain they are all very capable. In regard to leading these young athletes to also mature into young ladies that can also be winners outside the arenas, it is important to eradicate the coaches who don’t have that ability. Yes, I am referring to Reeves and Hammond! The league needs better than that!!

No but this Coach appears to resent and despise Caitlin. I hope that if they need another player that Caitlin declines the invitation.

The Lynx coach still thinks that people are coming to see her team play and Clark has nothing to do with it. Yet Clark isn't good enough to be selected for the Olympics squad who happens to be the coach of the Lynx. 1+1=3

"Entire rookie class"? This is why DEI and Title IX has to go. As lonmg as females are subsidized by ,ales there will be no incentives for them to compete and look at bottom line. Absolutely no other rookie is selling out stadiums and yet they credit the entire class?
