Beautiful + mysterious + breathtaking = this 🐠🐠 tank.I love it. 🥰🥰🥰 These kind of DIY videos prove the only thing that holds us back is the limits to our imagination. For example: I can see this tank on a much larger scale as a main focal piece in a living room. Or even rather massive and placed in the seating area or central lobby of a business.

never watched ur videos before but wanting to make my own aquarium and came across ur video, click on it, in first 10 seconds there's no sound so I increased my volume, and the video started at 0:17 ,scared the shi*t out of me.
I was legit talking to you while you were doing the hardscape. "Oh, that's pretty... wait what are you doing? Go back go back... I hate it!" This whole setup is just stunning.
It is beautiful and serene to watch, but I kept coming up with questions, and thoughts throughout such as: Is the fog and the superglue safe for the fish? Does it require a heater and filter? I'd love to see an update after a year or so to see how it is doing...Cleaning must be difficult...not much room for the fish...It is a beautiful center piece for a good sized room...Now I'm wondering if I should pull out my long spindly driftwood from storage and put it in the back of my 40 gallon tank, and attach a bunch of Anubias to it for my goldfish/rainbow platy tank... Very inspiring. Thank you for this video. (and thank you all for your patience in having to read what my mind gears were coming up with :)
Thank you! Yes the fog and superglue that i used are both aquarium safe. There is a small preset heater and canister filter but i dont think i showed any clips of them. I will do an update in a few months! Cleaning is simple, I only clean the pond area and the bog area remains untouched. That driftwood anubias combo would look great!
@@lwinter56273 hey Lucinda, I want to start with this new hobby, but could you help me a little bit. 1) I would like to have a "flat" one. Like in the video. But is that more difficult than a high one? I saw many tanks like 60cm*30cm*30cm (I think then it would be a normal aquarium, not a nano tank) and that would be okay. But for a beginner in this hobby, is it a little bit to big to start with? Would it be better to start with a 40cm*25cm*25cm tank? 2) And should I take a filter, which is inside or outside of the aquarium? 3) and finally just a question I'm curious about ;D When you have some shrimps in your nano tank and then they get some baby shrimps. That's great! But then (maybe) you have to many of them. What do you do with them? You can't kill them! But if you don't have friends with an aquarium too, you can't give it to them etc. What do you do? oh and just saying, I'm going to start with a freshwater nano tank. Not a saltwater tank. :D I'm sorry about all these questions and thank you very much. You don't have to respond if you don't want to ;D
@@LokiOfMischief Hi,(sorry for my English, I'm German ) I would think that for this size a filter inside would be enough. If you have too many shrimps you could sell them, I don't have shrimp at home but I'm sure that if you want to get rid of a too fast growing population you could add natural enemies, but I don't think that they'll expand their population too much.
@@lwinter56273 ohh perfect, thank you very much. Yeah, i would buy a enemy or so. Oh and no problem with your english. My eglish isn't the best too... ;P
16:20 It looks nice, but I hope you like warped/damaged walls and wood from condensation, because that's what you'll end up with over time, as the fog cascades over the tank sides and onto the cabinet and down the back of it.
This is great in nearly every way, but the one thing I consider a major flaw in design is the placement of the pump. As soon as it clogs or quits working for whatever reason, you will quickly understand why.
Of course! you are eating with natural materials. You try a piece here and there. It's the normal creative process. You expect a blue print plan and follow to the letter? All decision on landscaping design and materials decided before the first rock is placed? There is no 'indecisiveness'. What the fuck is wrong with you?
@@MrBonners I don't think his comment was stupid. It was a fair observation. I totally agree with your views on the normal creative process, but I don't agree with you crucifying this dude.
ME TOO!!! Especially because I live in Florida and it’s muggy and humid 90% of the time and I’m worried about if it does grow mold will it travel because I keep a guinea pig in my room and I don’t want anything that could possibly harm him in the same area.
Regis, this is friggin awesome man!! I see people will bitch about anything in comments ;-/ you dont owe em a single word or thought. You rock brudda!!! Looks freakin beautimus!!
Nice! I especially like the fogger. But, I thought Maidenhair fern couldn't be planted in water? I looked at that for something similar. I ended up getting Trichomanes Javanicum Borneo Fern but that can't really be planted partially in water either.
Thanks! Yeah its not really thriving. I moved it up so its above the waterline and that definitely helped but I still might try a few other plants for the next update.
The ultrasonic fogger will not harm the fish? Also, you could use a simple string instead of the plastic strip (clamp), which is much more biodegradable and harms less the nature.
I’m not very knowledgeable in this type of stuff, but is the whole aquarium self sustainable? Is there any management besides trimming overgrowth? Do you have to feed the beta or do the plants there feed it? I’m so curious😁😁
I am using three basic beginners plant to turn my normal pond tub into planted tub for guppy and their fry. How long should i wait to add them back in the pond?
Check water parameters after the conversion, if everything is normal you can add them in immediately. The plants wont negatively affect the water parameters.
While the tank looks fabulous I surely wouldn't put a betta in that since it doesn't have a lid. It's not about if but when it jumps out. Other than that it is just beautiful.
Thanks! I'm going to move him to another build soon. But for now, the floating plants completely cover the water surface so hopefully that will keep him from jumping
bullshit not all bettas are jumpers and plenty of experienced betta keepers have open tanks without that issue which i never had..put them in a small bowl they will want to jump out but provide a nice naturally scaped tank like this is paradise for them and they wont make the leap of faith
Honestly I have so much respect for people that completely diy their tanks

How does the Japanese Blood Grass fair long term? Have you had any issues with root rot or anything?
so how do you properly clean them rocks when they are glued together?
I only clean the pond area. The bog area behind the rocks remains untouched

True, good reason, theres a lot of those when i had that tree thingy
If you use isopods and springtails they will eat mold.fungus, and anything that breaks down,as they are detrivores.

Is it self cleaning or do you clean it? And, if you do clean it, do you go about it by using a siphon like a regular setup?
Its self cleaning for the most part but I will do normal maintenance on it. I will siphon the sand mainly for aesthetics though.
Did you have any issues with the fogger electrocuting the fish?
no issues after 2 months
Does it need a filter? Heater? How often do you change the water? I was inspired to make one of these because of this video; thanks!

how did you do that splitter for the water pump?
I just used a 4-way plastic air divider and 1/4" tubing to connect it to the pump
