- I start a new build with a 1977 Malibu Classic that has been severely rusted out in the past. It pretty much needs a complete body swap, so let's get started! In this video I weld on a new rear quarter panel after patching up the rusted out wheel wells. I also paint and install some plastic interior pieces.

Coming right along! You are doing an amazing job fixing and putting this car back on the road. It’s a shame, that companies charge so much for parts, paint, etc. You have to pick and choose, what to completely replace and what can be salvaged by repairing it. YT better not mess around with my Clunkers and Classics subscription or else they'll be pushing up daisy's. You could use Rit fabric dye for the seat and door panel cloth inserts.

That scene from Smokey and the Bandit was perfect, that Pontiac 4dr cop car was the same body with a few different changes from the Chevelle’s. Thanks for the laugh Lee!!
I would definitely paint/die the complete door panels including the inserts. The inserts were red originally. Also please do the complete seats. The interior will look soo sweet .You won't regret it.
I just need $100 worth of spray paint to do it!

Clunkers and classics at Chevelles coming along great doing a great looking job on it I like the two tone that you're going with black and silver red interior looks good on it if you don't want to paint them seats get some red dye go over it just make sure you make it a heavy red closest to the color you got had to fill in and look great used a lot of colors myself ain't bad it's going to take a sponge and David in once you get the color that you want if it's too late just add more color die don't cost much you can get that at Walmart or at a cloth store wherever they sell Fabrics but I'll be watching I love what you do you did an awesome job keep up the good work till the next time thumbs up

Watching the work on the interior plastics reminds me of when I was a kid in the mid 80s. My dad bought a 1977 Cutlass S coupe (not supreme, the S bottom-of-the-line model). Body in great shape, interior vinyl was good, but those plastics were crunchy, faded and beat even in 1986. The car was barely 10 years old! I was 9, and thoughtfully scratched things into the door plastic. I liked that car, it had the large side windows instead of the smaller rectangle ones like on this Malibu. It gave a nice airy feel to the interior.
Art's gonna want her (Malibu) back when your done fixin her all up!!

The core support can be replaced with only pulling one fender. I’ve done it on my ‘73 Chevelle.

I have had troubles with the key not turning all the way back and it was the shift cable that was out of adjustment
If you have any more trouble with it maybe try that.

Doing great work, I think I would check the little piston in the wheel cylinders for movement before I put much faith in the brakes. I was also wondering if you try to rotate the cars occasionally so that a particular side or area don't get hammered by the sun constantly. I know it would cost a fortune to try and garage every one, but it's a shame you put all the work into the cars just to have them sit and bake, especially the darker colors. Just an observation on my part. Keep up the good work.👍
Great video series! Just wanted to mention when you swap out the doors, the power window regulators mount in a different position than the manual window regulators. I have pics I can send or I have a video (window sweep install) on my channel going over this difference in these mounting positions. Keep these videos coming!

Man you make it look as anything can be done I know it's a crap ton of work but man you are a talented dude just thought I'd chime in and say depending on how you came and left Atlanta speedway you could a drove right past that smokey and bandit scene film location Atlanta speedway is on hwy 19/41/3 in Hampton ga that was filmed in 1977 in Jonesboro GA which is two towns over and I live here in Griffin GA where I think you might have stayed at a hotel at when you done powertour in the nomad anyway love the way it's coming along I like them big Chevelles but hell I like all Chevelles

I've had German shepherds through the years. They all preferred walking on leash to being let out on their own. For what it's worth.
I would spend the money you were thinking of spending on the new steering wheel in the beginning on a few more cans of red to make the interior look finished. It looks so much better resprayed so far ! Could the shift cable be slightly out of adjustment causing the key to stick ?

Forget about spending the money on a steering wheel and buy more interior paint so you can do the seats properly. Those sun faded inserts look terrible next to those nice rear panels. Just my suggestion. Love the build so far
SEM sells quarts and gallons. A quart is $80 plus shipping and supposedly ready to spray. Maybe they will see this and send you some!!

I got to ask how many hours did it take to install 1 of those quarters? I'm loving this video set imparticular. I can't imagine working out in the heat of summer and getting so much done. Great job sir you definitely make this look to easy. Great job thanks for the knowledge

Vice grip Garage video the other day said baby wipes will take the sticky off of steering wheel.
Did you check the cable that comes from the shifter to the steering column for the ignition switch? Just did a 75 Vette that was the problem.

dont know how you get all that done by yourself, especially in this heat. I spent an hour or so tinting the rear windshield on my truck today and looked like i had fell into a river. It looks like a car again though. Are you going to go with the Laguna stripes around the bottom or just paint the bottom the way you want it?

Is that the emergency flashers under the key switch on the column if not that may be a button kind of like what you were talking about to turn it off of accessory to get the key out I have seen those buttons on automatics.
