  • I start a new build with a 1977 Malibu Classic that has been severely rusted out in the past. It pretty much needs a complete body swap, so let's get started! In this video I change out the ignition lock and stereo. I paint some parts and answer some comments. I also preview a new scooter.

    It's been very nice seeing this thing come together. Problems slowly getting eliminated;
    Dome light ✅️
    Stereo working ✅️
    Passenger door jams ✅️
    Primer can finally showing up in the mail ✅️
    Got a brand new scooter ✅️
    Painted taillight area ✅️
    I love watching a plan fall into place. Someone ought to be proud to drive this car when it's all finished. Instead of paying like $650 on a car payment like i do.

    Cars looking great its come a long way quickly hats off to you bud, the bumpers can be sunk in bud if you drill them behind the mounting plate on the cylinder, press them in enough so you dont need the rear filler panel then pop a screw in the hole you drilled they are oil filled tho so if you do it keep your face out the way 👍💯👌

  • @keithroute8906

    Lee, Those pop rivets are fast but if you are keeping that car the after market cheaper window motors go bad quicker than originals. With nuts and bolts it is a quick swap if you have bad luck with a cheap Chinese window motor down the road. Some new motors actually come with nuts and bolts if you get lucky. I have done many factory rivet drill out or grind outs. Rivets were the fastest and cheapest way to go at the GM plants back in the day but the parts were randomly selected and rigorously tested. A factory part like a motor would be turned on and off until failure, they were expected to last ten years or for the life of a vehicle, all depending on usage, cycles, etc. These “new” motors you bolt them in, say your prayers and hope they last at least a few years. I put one in my Firebird maybe 15 years ago and it is still good. My 60 Impala had both originals fail two years ago. Originals I had to drill the door metal to be able to drill the rivets out. So originals lasted exactly 61 years each, new Chinese motors lasted two years each. World wide parts quality is at an all time low for every country with China leading the pack. In many cases China is the only source for certain parts for old cars so I give China respect for that. Just wish they would step up quality. It fried both new ones in two years as mentioned. I next rebuilt both original window motors and put those back in. Did many other cars window motors for other people, have no idea if most of them lasted long, most were charity jobs and those cars were rough and rusty not long for the world. The perfect type cars for putting in the cheapest replacement motors you could find. A car that might last two years tops at max, burning oil, onion skinned tires, dash lit up for every major system and the bottoms of both front fenders and door bottoms rusted off, side skins rattling in the breeze as it sails down the road. Just a car they needed running for another few months with a working window. Thanks for showing the ignition lock replacement, you are really good at explaining the repair. That brought back memories of one that locked up on my friend’s car and a very crazy night. One last compliment, way to be genuine and yourself. People won’t always like you but if you are genuine that is correct. If you are loved by masses then you are playing, a chameleon who must shift to be popular, copying others, faking, selling out or in, acting, just not being yourself, trying to be that clown or that perfect somebody. That definitely works and good for anyone making it no matter how they pull it off. Someone like me however appreciates somebody like you, a man with a brain, opinions and ambition being genuinely yourself showing what you are doing and explaining it well.
