We stayed last month and loved it! I didn’t fancy the stairs in the night so we turned the sofa into the double bed and had the bifolds all opened up in the day times watching the sea. Was amazing! Great idea to have beach huts for hire rather than having to buy them, means they will be occupied most of the time and give more people the chance to experience a beach hut.
Have stayed in these before Tim, they are lovely. Better if there is four of you as the cost is spread out as can be quite expensive. They sleep up to six people (four adults and two children), where the dining table is folds out into a double bed and there is a single one opposite it. If you leave the upstairs window open overnight using the metal hook you hear the waves crashing in the sea. Also as a bonus you get free tickets for your stay on the land train that runs into Bournemouth from Boscombe from late morning till the afternoon (seasonal i think April till September). There are also barbecue stations to cook outside and a cafe right in front the lodges.
I don't think leaving windows open is a good idea. Who knows who is lurking about at night. It would be like staying in an hotel and leaving your room door wide open. No- one in their right minds would do that.
Reminds me of the ones on the beach in Scarbrough, England, except they had brighter exterior paint colors. Protects your beach trip from the wind and cold, I imagine ☀️
It is. Great use of space, good business idea. I've always wanted to stay in one but beach huts are generally only day rentals & no overnight stays so this is great. They are a bit pricey tho !
Did Tim say "no air conditioning" ? What? Those cottages look pretty new, and Tim noted that he thought the bedrooms were uncomfortable during his tour, and would be really hot during the summer or during a heatwave! I don't understand the lack of air conditioning in 2024 - especially in new construction. This is an area where the weather is hot and humid! Plus -- air conditioning is required for my personal safety -- I need to close and lock up all the windows and doors when I sleep. Tim noted that it "wasn't too hot". Well, I'm glad for that.
6: 10 By placing the toilet rectangular, even more valuable centimeters/inches are saved! This is a optimum wonder cabin. Looks like they were inspired by cabins at ships, so efficient.
I'm a pom , well I was 61 years ago and it cracks me up when you say " oh thats not a bad sized fridge " its a beer fridge here in Australia hahaha I can honesty say no one I know has one of those tiny fridges as a daily use fridge over here .Love all your videos Tim , keep um coming .
When I was a teen my parents and I took our horses out to the mountains (Alberta, Canada) for 3 or 4 days of camping and trail riding. We stayed in a camper on the back of our truck. Cozy was the best way to describe it! We had just enough space to stay out of mom's way while she was cooking. The nights are cold in the mountains (the horses had shelter and they were fine) and being above ground in a cozy warm little shack on wheels was the best. When it rained at night it was the best feeling ever to know we were warm and dry. This little cabin brings back wonderful memories of sharing a vacation experience in tight quarters and I absolutely would enjoy staying there!
That would be a lovely place to stay! You’ve got all you need & right there is the beach. I’d bring a couple small fans for the bedroom area and then bliss. Love it
I live just down the beach from there and go for a run along there most evenings and pass these lodges. This is the first time I've actually seen what they look like from the inside and they look quite smart. I love hearing the sound of the sea when I go to bed at night, although it does get really noisy at times.
They look excellent! Really clever use of nicely finished plywood for the interior and a very functional use of the space. (Cozy!) So great to stay actually ON the beach for a seaside break. What a great idea and I bet they do really well.
These structures are a fantastic answer for the housing shortage around the globe! I too, would be more than happy to live in a home like this. As for a holiday, providing the weather is on your side, you'll be spending the majority of time outside. You could easily sleep two more downstairs if you bring along some bedding/pillows. I think this would be a great week long holiday, at least, for anyone who can cope living in a "cosy" dwelling. Everything is supplied to be self-sufficient and all you need is groceries, yourself and a few good books. I like to see accommodations shown that most could likely afford. Thanks Tim.🇦🇺💖👩🏼🎨
There are two windows up there, front and back. If both were open you would get a through breeze, although I do think they should have installed a ceiling fan too for the height of summer.
Used to stay in some nice beach chalets in Branscombe, Devon. Nice walk over the headland to Beer for pub / tearooms and Seaton/Sidmouth not far either. Tempted to book one of these sometime though. Keep them coming Tim - bet Thumper would love it when older.
I love this beach hut - so cute and reminds me of childhood holidays when we sometimes rented a beach hut for the day. Great use of space and has everything you need. The view is breathtaking !
Safety tip for steep steps like that: always be facing them whether going up or down. It's almost a ladder, so treat it as such. Oh yeah, the cost of £580, is that for a week or a weekend?
So well thought out and designed, Tim. A lot has been fitted into a small space. Great for the younger generation but upstairs would be a bit daunting for us 'Oldies'! A great idea for a beautiful location.
I wouldn't mind staying in one of those Tim, but my wife would probably put her foot down. Those steep stairs? I'm close to 80 yet I think I could manage them. Cosy or homelike describe those beach huts pretty well Tim.
Yes - Beach Huts do it for me - Like a ' tiny house ' on your own beach - fabulous. Love the stairs - slide down - like in the Navy flicks. - eat your heart ' Hornblower '! I met him in Crawford St. London W1 when I lived there! Excellent spaces. Agree about the housing! If land is released folks could have their homes like that or slightly larger. Bless Badger.
Lovely looking place to stay. And, you're right on the beach with no annoying, noisy roads running in front of the room. I would definitely stay here. Thank you for your excellent video.
Those beaches looked very familiar to me. I spent from 1969 to 1980 living in that area. The beach I most went to was Branksome Chine which was the opposite direction to that beach but it all looks very much the same. I see that these lodges are in Boscombe which is up from Bournemouth centre. I think for two people that lodge would be perfect. I spent a lot of time in a beach hut along Branksome Chine, as a relative owned one and we used to use it a lot. Be warned though there are often a lot of hooligans out along the promenade at night, especially in the summer, so it might not be as quiet as it could be. I don't suppose things have changed much!!!
I'm currently in dorset staying near poole. Such a lovely place dorset. Went to Studland yesterday going to try and brave the sea in swanage today. Will definitely consider these next time. Fab video.
I didn’t even know you could do this. It’s been my absolute dream to sleep in a beach hut I’m definitely going to book for next year. Thanks so much 🎉❤
The lodges actually sleep 5. The table pins up under the wooden block you were playing with. The bedding is under the benches. But it would be extremely cosy with 5 people.
Thank you, im going to look into this for a nice break in the summer and tell family about these beach homes. On a separate non related note, wothallthe hopelessness i was just thinking there's a lot of people who'd be greatful for something like this single, couples or a family. It was the carving on the Wooden Staircase that makes it look Swiss. That very small narrow bed space, couldn't really call it a Bedroom but a cute sleeping space! Hi Tim a wonderful video and what a lovely place to stay for a weekend. The views over the beach and sea looked so stunning. Thank you for making this video.
I watch tons of van builds and tiny home builds. This is way bigger than those but I didn't think the space was utilized to it's max potential. Still cute though
I've just had a thought Tim (doesn't happen that often, lol!) Could you start including parking arrangements/advice for the places you stay? Whether it's free/included or if you have to park remotely and pay etc. It all helps when you have to drive to an unfamiliar place. I enjoy watching your vids, it gives me wanderlust! Cheers.
The parking for these lodges is either up on the cliffs which entails a quite steep zig zag. Or you get free parking the other side of boscombe pier. That’s about a 15 minute walk along the prom
You can drive to these huts and unload your car. There are a few roads which you can park on with no lines just up from there, as the man I volunteered to park the car .
0:02 Very impressive although I might find it a bit uncomfortable on a very warm/hot night. I would not find it difficult going down the stairs after a glass of wine but after a bottle? Probably!
Great and considerate design. There's enough bed space downstairs for 2 additional persons! Great space for a small family of 4 or 5. The deck area expands the interior space in the warmer months. Nice to have that big table out there! I think a ceiling fan worked into the design would have helped the loft area, but probably leaving the windows cracked to foster a cross breeze helps. The bathroom --tiny, but I've seen smaller in Japan! Is there ventilation in there? In all, a great place, so thoughtfully designed.
Yes I would stay there!! It looks beautiful and is the perfect size for one person. It would be a bit too crowded for 2 or 3. I think it might be a bit too hot at the peak of summer though, since the hut doesn’t come with air conditioning.
Good morning Tim, just caught up, fabulous vlog, looks very comfy in there, the air shots amazing, Bournemouth is a great place to visit. Had a busy weekend was iur Golden wedding anniversary, party Saturday was amazing, great seeing old friends and family. Lots of dancing and chatting, went too quick, but had a fab time. I stayed there a few years ago, great holiday, bit rough in the town tbh,

This is cleaner than some of the posh hotels. I love “cosy” spaces.
Not only would I stay there, I’d live there!
It's plenty large enough for full-time residency. If it wasn't on the beach it could be affordable.
