There are actually really good estheticians. Don't hate the profession. It's the people that buy into the bullshit and promote it (Like celebrities) because they're conned by some old lady with bad pink hair. It's over 1500 hours just to get the basic license in my state. I'm dating someone that's 15 years in the industry, and since we live in a metropolitan city, he has some famous people on his client list. He doesn't bullshit them and he's a top earner in the industry for the entire region. I'm becoming a licensed nail technician and I have to use my biology and chemistry schooling (I was a chem major but dropped out...long story) for a lot of my classes.
We have to learn A LOT and retain it. I'm also doing mortuary school (well...covid has kinda messed some of that up, but I'm just waiting) and I'm literally learning as much science at my nail tech school as my mortuary college.

Excuse me, HOW are you suggesting the EXTERNAL enzymes are "making the cells work"? Like? Enzymes in skincare are often just a catalyst to help break down/exfoliate skin. And evaporating toxins out of skin??????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the crap she's making up and claiming about that treatment. I'm dieing. I'd rather they just be honest about the treatments. Call it hydrating and exfoliating if they want, but don't sell blatant lies. Toxins aren't pulled out of your skin via skincare. It can help absorb oil, breakdown dead skincells, increase cell turnover etc sure, but it's NOT gonna pulp out toxins, skincare itself isn't gonna increase circulation. Probably how aggressively she was rubbing your skin, and all that redness was probably due to irritation from the enzymes. There is SO MUCH wrong with everything she told y'all! Man the crap she was spewing was HILARIOUS to try and claim this mask did. Oh man. That's funny stuff. I'd be HILARIOUSLY obnoxious like asking "ok and exactly what toxin is this supposed to evaporate"

These “treatments” literally bank upon the Placebo effect- you automatically feel something good happened just because you are expecting it to be better after getting something done, when it may not have actually worked.
For people who don’t know what Placebo effect is, the best I can explain it is using stories like the one about a kid who always felt that he was sick and no remedy worked on him, but then a doctor made him believe that drinking a certain potion would completely eradicate his illness, so he followed the dosage routine and reported that he was feeling totally fine after a few days. That potion was nothing but flavored water. It is more of a psychological concept, look it up.

Enzymes don’t make the cells “work” an enzyme is a catalyst that speeds up a specific reaction in the body which means it only breaks down one specific molecule. And it also needs a VERY specific environment which means that if it is inside the body there’s no way it could survive outside the body and visversa. I’ve been in Topical Steroid Withdrawal for over two years and that’s what my skin all over my body looked like for months in the first year. Then it looked like that for months all over my face the second year. It’s been incredibly painful and debilitating, not to mention itchier than I ever felt when I had eczema. The mental and other physical symptoms that come along with TSW are sometimes more difficult to deal with than the skin symptoms. I can’t believe people would even temporarily let this happen to their skin, even though it’s different from TSW. Whenever anyone mentions 'toxins' to you - RUN THE OTHER WAY. There is no legitimate usage of this term in referring to 'specific stuff', and anyone with any medical education knows this or should know it. There's no such thing as a 'toxic' substance - we label things as 'toxic' because of the propensity of the contents as packaged to result in toxicity, not because of any inherent property of the substance. For instance, we'd label many ubiquitous food additives within their containers as 'toxic' because if you were to ingest mouthfuls of the additive formulation, there's a high likelihood that this would result in toxicity - however we would never label the food containing these additives as 'toxic', or as 'containing toxins' because there is no conceivable way to consume so much of the food so as to result in toxicity.
Toxicity is entirely context dependent - taking into account the environment and quantities of stuff. Water toxicity can be fatal, but you rarely hear of water as being 'a toxin' - likewise when it comes to things that are extremely damaging to our bodies in fairly small amounts - things like oxygen and direct sunlight are near the top of this list. Oxygen is EXTREMELY dangerous and harmful as a chemical, one of the most reactive substances out there, and is one of the main causes of DNA damage and mutation. Sunlight is an almost unabashed negative, suppressing immune function and resulting in spectacular amounts of cellular damage, despite many people who use the language of 'toxins' viewing it fairly positively.
No medically informed person would ever talk about 'toxins' as though they were a thing - if you hear people talking about this, RUN THE OTHER WAY... ideally towards a certified doctor who can refer you to some place better.

    "promote oxygen throughout my body"
Circulatory system "am I a joke to you?"
Also what enzymes are actually used?
apparently its supposed to do "reverse osmosis" on the skin but that would require running a current through the body.
It claims to "remove dead proteins form the skin" first the upper layer of skin is all dead second proteins aren't alive, third there's a thing called a late endosome to get rid of old proteins.
An "enzyme is a catalyst that gets the cells to work" christ, are you explaining this to a 5 year old?

I'm not completely sure if this is true but I was advised never to move your skin around while you have stiff masks like this or clay on. Since its rigid and cracks, you're actually causing tension/pulling on your skin which can cause wrinkles over time.

Yeah, I don't know what that explanation was supposed to be. A basic understanding of biology like is taught in high school should clue anybody in that a lot of the stuff in this is a load of bull. That and the "flushing of toxins" shit.

  • @JasmineSurrealVideos

When the enzyme stuff dried she looked like a painting with old varnish on that's cracking off like crazy paving, really weird! But fascinating, and I like the way she presents, she isn't stuffy and her reactions are fun!
Re enzymes, enzymes are found in foods like pineapple, called bromelain, which are good for digestion, and make a good skin peel, as they basically eat away the dead layers of skin on top. Normally skin sheds every 28 days anyway, but if you have dry or oily skin the process takes a longer or shorter time.
