Glad to hear the name of John Tolos and Chris Tolos . John Tolos was and always will be my favorite wrestler . He was a big part of the Southern California wrestling scene in the late 60s and through most of the 70s on TV and at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles .
Jerry was born in November of 1949, so if they moved to Ohio in February of 1958, and that was the first time Jerry recalls watching wrestling, that would have made him 8 yrs old...and what boy, at that age, doesn't enjoy watching wrestling... especially during the cold, snowy winters of the Great Lakes region...Then 7 yrs later moved back to Memphis at 15 yrs old, and just two years later, at the age of 17, he was wrestling for Jackie Fargo...Just think, if Jerry's Father hadn't been transferred for his job, we may never have had the "The King"
If I remember correctly, his book said he got a check for $6 for his first match. That's more than Bobby Heenan got working several spots in one night for Nick Gulas.
I remember those matches at the old Avon Theater.. when it rained, it didn't matter if you were inside or out..😅😂 Flooded the sticky floors knee deep.😮 My Uncle is Don "The Outlaw" Bass. 1st met Jerry at a lil dinner in Bucksnort, Tn. with Sam
it would have been from around 1967, there's no tv footage from there during that time. But I think i remember seeing a clip where they showed other drawings he did a few years after Lawler had been wrestling.
Yeah Jerry Lawler you keep your word in the wrestling world 🌎 etc but when it comes to personal things, promises you make to someone like me you don't,you said we would be 🤴👸💍 forever but you love money 💰 better or you'd be honest and keep your word but you're greedy you see
Big shout out to Jerry the King Lawler 👑

Great interview, the history about regional wrestling is most interesting...

Legend
U made my childhood
Plenty of wrestlers have worked with legends before the age of 18. Can you imagine yourself in that position?
His drawings were a cross between Mad Magazine and Charlton Comics.
Anyone have the old show that the king was showing his pictures
