    I agree with repealing the 19th and having some kind of land owning requirement to vote. Maybe just half an acre or so would be good.

    That’s sad about that opc church. I go to an opc and ours didn’t close but a couple weeks and then the pastor sent a letter to the county officials explaining their duty to them.

    My sincere question would be; What can we learn from secular philosophers that we can't learn from Scripture? Of course, unbelievers know things, but is it anything novel to God's Word, no!

    • @unkown312
      @unkown312 Месяц назад

      You can learn from anyone. But the reality is that God is a God we must serve. His Word is Holy. If what we read outside of the word of God denys his word or goes against it, well, don't listen. We can learn from anyone. God gives to who he chooses. It's good to search things out as long as we are strong enough in our faith with the Lord.

      @@unkown312 All truth belongs to God. If anyone says something that is true, it is because people can have knowledge and know things, but if that person doesn't acknowledge God as the truth giver, then he/she can't justify why something is true. My point is that we have God and His Word as the only standard for truth, we don't need any secularist to try and give us something new and profound.

    Perhaps a general equity theonomist and postmillenialist can adopt "wisdom" to manage things not explicitly taught in scripture like immigration.
    Solomon offered to chop an infant in two to identify the rightful mother. Not sure that would be expressed as a "general equity" principle for us to use apart from wisdom.
    You can't give your neighbor your cloak if you don't have one.

    I think the full context of Gabe's comment on tax credits is he sees them as a cheap substitute for not actually lowering the tax burden, so it's a vote-getting pandering to a specific group instead of being equal across citizens, as taxes should be. That's where the socialism comes in. But in your defense, he phrased that poorly on X.

    He meant that God is a ruler, and heaven is full of people from all nations and ethnicities, as God, the ruler of rulers, has willed it to be that way. God did not create many different peoples for the sake of chaos. Of course, Aristotle was talking about earthly rulers, not the Heavenly Father. Even though the Kingdom of God is a multi-ethnic "state," Aristotle is probably right.

    Question that was posed to Joel: Do you understand that even Wolfe has stated his natural law position is incompatible with Theonomy? Why specifically do you think you can ride the fence between the two?
    Your mischaracterization of Theonomy was something to behold. "Libertarian-Boomerism?" You have no clue what you are talking about, but when all else fails, labeling and name-calling is the default position. But more importantly, you never answered the question posed to you. You simply blew it off by saying, "I don't think it (i.e. answering the question) is the greatest need of the cultural, political, and even theological moment." How is whether God's law or man's law is to be the foundation for cultural and political reformation not "of the moment" when it is essential to how they are to be reconstructed or reformed? God's law is antithetical to any form of natural law theory, which is both arbitrary and subjective. But I have little doubt that so-called "general equity theonomists" like you and Wilson and the entire "Moscow Crowd" will continue to refuse to answer this question. And the reason for not doing so is evident. You can't because unlike Wolfe on this point, you won't go on record stating that natural law and Theonomy are incompatible, because they are.

    Furthermore, your characterization of theonomic immigration policy as being "naive" is amazing. Besides your hypothetical being really naive, let's say that what you portrayed as being theonomic immigration policy is accurate? Do you rally have the audacity to call God's standard "naive" and Wolfe's natural law theory being the "Christian way" to go? I don't really think you have a grasp of what Theonomy actually teaches.

      I thought the same thing. Dr. Bahnsen would be ripping his hair out listening to this episode. It was unfortunate to hear for sure and it made me doubt whether Joel, our brother, understands presuppositionalism or theonomy at all. Thomism is antithetical to Calvinism, especially presupp and theonomic ideas, and they cannot be reconciled. This is why Dr. Van Til singled out Aquinas over and over again for destruction, because Aquinas’ ideas are diametrically opposed to his own.
