- Cyber Shadow is a 2D action platformer that starts out as a blast from the past reminiscent of Ninja Gaiden, but as it adds more complexity and depth, it becomes something much greater.

Seriously nails that retro look and feel so well
It's so dope man. Felt like a kid playing my old consoles. And it isn't too crazy hard. Shouldn't turn any one off. When many people hear retro they think impossible haha. I reviewed it, check it out if you don't mind.

Just finished it today. Has hard segments but overall felt pretty fair and balanced. the final boss took me 9 tries though.

@@quancro The Messenger wasn't a bad game but I'm really getting sick of people saying it plays much like Ninja Gaiden because it doesn't. It's more interested in environmental trap patterns then an all out barrage of enemies like the Ninja Gaiden games.

Played it and didn't bother finishing cause it was repetitive, slow and really not well designed

There is a game called 'Shadow Ninja' on the original Nes. I remember playing it when there was already a N64 around. Regardless, it was fun and the music was sick too. Some of the aspects of this game are similar to the things in the original game, like some of the enemies.
Yes! It's also on the Switch. I need to go back to it, I just played a little time many months ago.
Even some sound effects are exactly the same, its called Blue Shadow iover here in europe tho, and the cover-art is way better

I feel that the 'swag blade' must be a reference to Arcus, the best Ninja Gaiden Speed Runner ever and current WR holder. Pretty cool nod to the Ninja Gaiden community and the games as a whole if it's the case.
I hope to see DLC content to this game similar to Shovel Knight, would love to play through more Cyber Shadow content! Maybe a prequel or sequel for Shadow? Or make you play as Apparitor and his story? Maybe you play as the bike/mech dude Exo? So much potential.. I want more Cyber Shadow for sure!!

What a great time for ninja games! Played the Messenger last year, reinstalled Mark of the ninja last week waiting for this.

If you like Retro style games, play Huntdown, came out this summer. Fantastic game which pays tribute to old action movies from 80's, a mix between warriors, mad max and robocop etc. You fight different gangs with phenomenal bosses..

This game is great, but if you are not a fan of the classic look check out Strider (2014).

The music from this game is absolutely awesome.
Disagree about the assessment of the story, I thought it was excellent and it surprised me. That the characters were understated and not over drawn, in the literary sense, is wonderful. I just love how the world and story tied together, it was marvelous
And then you break the story down and its much much more than jist serviceable it took me an entire play through to realize the joke of shadow being the missing elemental was actully cannon

boss at 2:40 looks just like the underwater stage boss from Shatterhand (nes)

It spams flying enemies, which were always the cheapest enemies from Gaiden.

Loving these side scrolling action games. If you like this, you'll probably like a game called "Huntdown". Anyone heard of it? It's a shooter masterpiece. Awesome gameplay and soundtrack.

Pretty cool! I think it looks much more like Shadow of the Ninja than Ninja Gaiden tho, at least visually it's more akin to Natsume's style from back then.

@@Manmade023 I don't think many folks are old enough to have played KAGE, so ninja gaiden is just an easier reference due to having more entries
@@Manmade023 shadow of the ninja has a very different weapon. The sword looks nothing like cyber shadow or ninja Gaiden. Upgraded is like a Contra game, and also you have another weapon. Ninja Gaiden is always the sword.

Dude I spent a lot of time on messenger and now I’m playing this on game pass. Very nostalgic in terms of its predecessor ninja gaiden. This makes me feel like a kid again and I’m 25 years old lmao

This is a awesome game that is a great throwback to the OG Ninja Gaiden trilogy I can safely say I'm grateful for the checkpoint system otherwise I would've been trying my best to not chuck my PS4 controller into my TV.
I think I seen this on Gamepass. I think I’ll need to give it a run.

people need to stop comparing this to the messenger, it plays differently, both games are great in their own individuality, and even the homages/inspiration are different from each other.

The developer (literally one guy) said in interviews he will make new content if the user base wants it.

Batman on NES + Ninja Gaiden with a touch of Power Blade and Super C. Awesome.
I resent the predictable comparison to Ninja Gaiden. Cyber shadow draws greater inspiration from Shadow of the ninja aka kage. It's such a tragedy how that game, which is leagues ahead of Ninja Gaiden, continues to get nowhere near the recognition it deserves.
No matter though; the wait is finally over and I can't wait to get my retro fix with this awesome game.

References to Ninja Gaiden are prevalent, but the level design, music, characters, animations and core gameplay are more reminiscent of Mega Man, in my opinion.
Remember what it was like to play as Zero in Megaman X4? This is basically that, if it had been made for the NES.

Awesome game but the last levels are a tad too demanding for me. Maybe needs simpler controls or esay mode? Anyway, its a great game! :D

No New Game+? That seems kinda off given YCC handled SK and there are very similar traits here.
- Enemies do more damage
- Enemies have more health
- Less checkpoints

This isn't a rogue like tho.. Children Of Morta and Neon Abyss are really great too, if you're looking for those type of games
This whole game is heavily inspired by Shadow of the Ninja (Kage Fighter) from NES era.. I think devs should also give credit to the original developer Natsume
