I believe folks are missing the forest because of the trees. The last bitcoin halving drew ALOT of attention even on MSM. and the event itself was April 19th, so the curious (for any reason) would be watching this with interest if they are financially minded whatsoever. Which means a pump in the analytic chart, kinda like crypto projects on an individual level huh? So I place my bet on "Blame the halving".

THIS. I still think some folks are sus. Some of them didn’t know much about crypto around the time ETH went POS (that self said), but their channels somehow blew up during a bear market? Now there’s multiple daily videos shilling free gear, more so now there’s seemingly more and more 5-figure miners being released, they get for free to advertise as the next big thing. There’s another more prominent channel with roughly 250k subscribers that gets on average 1% of that in views. People have gotten very very greedy for those views.

It's a non-issue in my opinion. They know the retention rates will be low for that content in the end. They are being effective at getting exposure to more people by having the algorithm push their content and that does help them to stay afloat while we all wait for the bull run hype to make organic engagement the norm again. Hobbyist has numerous times said he's out of available power, so we know he's going to shill services and products instead of spending money to make build and deployment videos in the middle of a down market. ChumpChange has started doing more videos on how he is doing solar to try to make power cost less of an issue. He only has a small setup so he's very limited in what he can do with that but if he can be successful with those videos he could expand his solar system's capacity and make more interesting content mining "off-grid." I still have no idea why he's been running a 12V system with small batteries but that is a different issue. Thank you BlindRun for avoiding the shill path and always trying to stick to as factual of information as you can offer. Thank you for also being humble enough to admit when you just don't know something. It's nice to have an influencer that isn't trying to have their hand in my pocket.

How is a 65w lottery miner for a hundred bucks stupid? If everyone had one of these, would that not help with decentralization? The halving won't matter. In general, the bitcoin price wouldn't matter. They would just hash in the background until they died, and in the end, worst-case scenario, you lose 100 bucks. seen plently hobbyist miner videos, while im not personally a fan, his formula for getting subs is spot on, from the titles to the thumbnails to his demeanor, he just has the formula down.
