Kelly Crow (Limbo District) Interview 2024

In this interview I talk with Kelly Crow, the third guitarist of the short-lived Athens, GA avant-garde / no wave band LIMBO DISTRICT. During the band's brief existence (1981-1983), the group did not receive much attention outside of Athens but garnered the respect of bands like R.E.M. and The B-52s, with a brief mention in the 1987 documentary Athens, GA: Inside Out. Now over 40 years later, the once-thought long lost recordings are finally being revived and released by Kelly and Henry Owings of Chunklet Industries. The band's wild, poetic, and rhythm-based music is finally getting the attention it deserved all those years ago, with physical releases and writeups in media outlets such as The Guardian to coincide. We discuss Kelly's early musical influences, the history of Limbo District, the future of guitar-based music, and much more.
