3:59 The distance the shot is taken from was actually calculated to be exactly 11 meters (36 ft) because it forces the goalkeeper to pick a corner before the shot is taken but still gives him enough reaction time to block if he jumped into the right one. It's designed to be a 50:50 situation.
The thing as a goalkeeper with the penalty shootout is that it is basically a coin toss for you. Either you go left, go right or stand in the middle. You have to jump somewhere (or stand still) because the ball is way to fast to react once it comes flying at you. So sometimes when you chose wrong it looks silly, but there's nothing you can do about it.
when an important match ends with a draw (one game is 2x 45 minutes), they have to play for another 2x 15 minutes. if there still is no winner, they each take 5 penalty shots at each other. if there is still no winner after that, you keep shooting penalty shots until there is a winner. the penalty shot is always from the exact same distance (11 meters/ 33 feet). Germany always wears white (or sometimes black), italy is wearing blue here (the pink/golden shirts are just to mark reserve players) and the referees are always this bright yellow. also the goalies always wear a different color than the field players. the goalies jump to the wrong side so much when facing a penalty shot because the balls are usually too fast to react the them in mid-air (over 100 m/ph) so the goalies have to anticipate the shooters aim and jump before the shooters actually hit the ball.

First 90 minutes of these teams playing amazing football against each other, not letting the other one make a goal, driving the fans crazy with the stress. There is so much history behind these two teams and this was such an important game! And then this. I was watching it with my parents. the reason why goalkeepers dive in different directions is because they have no idea where the ball will go so it's a guessing game and sometimes they guess right and save it other times the don't.
4:12 actually when you see the direction the ball goes, you are too late coz the ball will be too fast to catch it. so you have to read the movement of the shooter and predict where it will go. the shooter tries to distract the goalie by his movements. so it often happens that the goalie predicts something very different from what the shooter actually does. and as the goalie has not much time, he prepares his body for a catch and can't stop the movement when the ball is unpredictable for him. it's not just physical but also a kind of psycho game you play in the penalties ;)
The thing is that this is a European Cup quarter finals game and there NEEDS to be a winner that moves on to the semi finals. It's not like a federal soccer league game which can also end with a draw. A regular soccer game lasts for 90 minutes, split into 2x 45 minutes with a side switch. If one team is in the lead by that time, it's decided. But if not, there's another 2x 15 minutes prolongation of the game in order to have it decided. If after these 120 minutes in total there hasn't been a winning team, they to the Elfmeterschießen, which is 5 "penalty shots" for each team and the team which scores more goals is the winner. And no, they don't move closer to the goal, as it says it's literally "elf Meter" (= eleven meters). You see that little white dot in front of the goal? That's the 11 meters mark. Now, in this particular game there was still no decision after the Elfmeterschießen, so they prolonged even that. So when Germany won the Elfmeterschießen, they moved on to the semi finals AND ended a decade- long losing streak against Italy who have kicked them out of every European or World Cup - until this day.
As a goalkeeper, if you want to have a chance to clean the ball, you have to decide which corner of the Goal you want to jump in. Often goalies know the statistic of every player like 4 example Neuer knows that in the last season, player X shot 3 times in the right corner but 8 times in the left corner. Out of this information they try to guess where the players are shooting. Also the body language of the shooter can show in which corner they want to shoot. It's a bit like poker, you have to know if the player is just looking in the corner to bluff you or if he really wants to go for that side. Also the German Goalkeeper is named Manuel Neuer and is one of the best, if not the best Goalkeeper of the world.
As a goalie you have two options: 1. React to the shot. This way, you will probably not hold any of the good shots. 2. Choose your corner in advance. This way, you could jump in the wrong direction. But your chances are better with the good shots.
I'm not even 3min in and literally everything you've said so far was wrong. 😂 It's kinda funny to watch you try and make sense of it when to me it is very obvious which team is which and which jersey color belongs to whom😂😂😂
The Goalkeepers don´t have the time to react. They have to decide in which direction they would jump before the Player shoots. Neuer, who jumped in the wrong Direction, was the best Goalkeeper worldwide at this moment.
being a goalie in a penalty-kick situation is no easy feat. either you have eagle-eyesight that can look through the ball and see how the other person is going to hit the ball, or you decide for one side of the goal and spread your wings. 50-50. and if add in the 25% chance of hitting in the middle? sounds like Steiner-Math now :D
I know many probably wrote that but: Black and yellow are the referees; Black and white are Germany Blue are the Italians The purple jerseys the italians wore over their jerseys were the exchange players(other color same meaning on the German side) Black suits are the trainers
Let me explain the jersey‘s: The Referees mostly got this bright yellow shirts, or all black in the national league. Every team has his own jersey-colour, like Germany got white. If Germany plays against a team, that also got white jersey‘s or in a similar colour, you have the opportunity to use another bunch of jerseys. In international competitions this is not very often, but in the national league, everytime your team is NOT playing in their own stadium, they have to wear the second jersey colour. If the second colour is similar to the other team, you have to use your third jersey colour 🤣 the goalkeepers got his own jersey colours, mostly two different to choose. I hope you understand 😅
The keeper jumps in the opposite direction of the ball because if he waited for the player to shoot and then jump he woul not be able to reach the ball in time, thats why he has to predict the shot by looking at the shooting players movement.Thts why the goaly sometimes jumps in the wrong direction.
The goalies often jump to the wrong side because during a penalty shootout you can't wait to see where the ball is actually going. If you do that, the the ball will be in the net before you even have a chance to get there. So what you do as a goalie is trying to anticipate where the shooter is going to place the ball by the way they run up to the ball and then you jump to that side. If you guessed correctly, you have a chance to get your hands on it. But of course shooters know that, so they will try to send you in the wrong direction by the way they approach the ball or make a stutter step to get you to move first and commit to one side, so they could easily place it into the opposite side of the net.
haha, oh James, the white trikots wear the germans, and the azurri (Italians) wear blue trikots, and the refferies wear yello shirts, and all the others, they are Ersatzspieler! :-) :-)
as a goaly you have to try to anticipate where the player is shooting by watchig at his eyes or the way his body moves and have to chose one side, because you dont have a chance to get the ball if you jump after the player shoots. thats why it looks so dumb if the goaly expected to ball to go in the other corner oh and btw, the goalkeepers dont wear the same jerseys as the field players thats why there are many colours
In Soccer, in Worldcup and Eurocup in the later games (not starting games) you play 90 Minutes with a half pause. If there is no winner by then you get a 15 minutes to play with a short pause and another 15 minutes to play. If by then there is no winner, you get to the penalty Game, where you have a set number of shots and who hits the most of them wins, if it is a draw in the end it is continued until one team has atleast 1 goal more than the other.
As a goalkeeper you don't have the chance to watch where the ball is going and then jump in that direction. From that distance the ball would be too fast and be in the goal before the keeper jumped so he needs to decide in which corner he jumps before the player shoots and thats why they often jump to to wrong corner.
As in basketball, there is a club level, where teams like Borussia or Bayern play, such as the Celtics or the Nuggets. They play in leagues. The best players of each country gets chosen for the national teams. On international level you have national teams such as Germany, the US or Italy. They play for World cups or their continental cups (In this case the Europe. Championship). Continental or World Cups are the most prestigious things in soccer since a World Cup or a Continental Championship is just all four years so you don't have many chances as a player to win them.
In soccer if there is a penalty the goalkeeper always has to decide for one direction to jump at before the player touched the ball, because they shoot to fast, that you could react before the ball reaces the goal.
You have either to watch Germany - Brazil 2014 or Germany - Argentina 2006 (penalty). These games were the real shit. My 10 year old heart was bursting in 2006 😱😂
The yellow and black one was the Referees and in the beginning the Trainers are in the grass too The kepper jumpt to the wrong Side because he have to Test the Ball is to fast to jump when he alays kicked
Lol...Puma might be a German company, but a LOT of teams use it. Germany is usually using Adidas. The team won the cup in 1952 partly thanks to their innovative Adidas shoes. And Germany ALWAYS wears white and Black during sort competitions, sometimes with the colours of the German flag somewhere in it. The Italian team is also called the "Azura". Blue is their traditional colour. This game was particularly suspenseful because beforehand Germany had always lost against Italy in the big competitions. It is kind of the team our team always has the hardest time with. And the penalty shot-out very unusual, because usually, nearly every ball gets in, ESPECIALLY when Germany is involved. The German team is kind of infamous for winning those shot-outs.
I am also a goalkeaper from germany. As a goaly u choose a corner before the soccer ball is shot. And u jump in that corner no matter what. And there are multiple coulers because white and black is germany blue and white is italy and black and yellow is the refere
Jumping in the wrong direction is a common problem in this phase. Since the distance is so short and the goalie is only allowed to start moving once the ball does, there isn't really time to react to where its going. As a result, the goalies have to analyse where and how that particular player tends to shoot and from there its mostly guesswork. Also, they already played for two hours at this point.
While a single Elfmeterschuss (11-meter-shot) can be a penalty for a bad foul, this here is the special phase. 1st phase: Normal game. 90 minutes divided in two halves. 2nd phase Verlängerung(extension): occurs if the score is even after the normal playtime ends. an additional 30 minutes of play divided in 2 halves. 3rd phase Elfmeterschießen(11-metee-shots): (occurs only in cups and championships as such games are not allowed to end in a draw) If the score is even after phase two, the players of each team face the opponents goalie. each team gets a set of 5 shots at the enemy goal. once the set is completed, the game ends if one team has taken the lead. if not additional shots per team are played. this repeats until one team is in the lead at the end of a set. even if it takes hours.
4:22 The shooter is only 11m away from the goal meaning at that point it's a judging/guessing game. As the goalkeeper you try to foresee which corner the shooter is going to take and that's the corner you jump in because if you wait until it's clear the ball will already be in the net. Those balls can reach three digit speeds.
Oh I remember that game. It was so intense! - Soccer rules ( or football as it is called here ) for dummies: If a play off match has no winner after the regular time of 90 mins it goes to overtime. If there is still no winner after the overtime ( 30 mins ) it goes to a penalty shootout. Every team gets 5 penalties and tries to decide the match by scoring more often than the opponent team. If the match is still tied after that every team gets one additional penalty try until there will be a winner. - Why do goalies jump to the wrong side? They gamble. You have to do that as a goalie on that level. You just can't wait until the ball was kicked because you woun't have enough time to reach it than. The German keeper Manuel Neuer still is one of the best keepers on the planet. And he dominated that position for years. Did not know you are also reacting to soccer. But I guess now that ppl know that you'll get a thousand of video suggestions. :) And of course you just have to react to THE game EVERY German knows about. It was the legendary match against Brazil during the world cup 2014. ruclips.net/video/6IcIpk9Lka4/видео.html
When the Goalkeeper jumps in the opposit direction that’s quite normal In a penalty. The Goalkeeper has to jump before because the distance is very low.
The goalkeeper has to jump into a random corner so he has to assume where the shooter is shooting to u know so that’s why he is sometimes jumping into the false corner
The goaly jumps the wrong direction, because when the guy hits the ball hard enough and well placed, the goaly has no time to wait until he knows the corner. :)

being a goalie in a penalty-kick situation is no easy feat. either you have eagle-eyesight that can look through the ball and see how the other person is going to hit the ball, or you decide for one side of the goal and spread your wings. 50-50.
and if add in the 25% chance of hitting in the middle? sounds like Steiner-Math now :D
I know many probably wrote that but:
Black and yellow are the referees;
Black and white are Germany
Blue are the Italians
The purple jerseys the italians wore over their jerseys were the exchange players(other color same meaning on the German side)
Black suits are the trainers
11:17 - 11:19 dude I laughed so hard
"Hell nooa" 😂😂😂
Ich Kack ab
Jonas Hector, the guy who scored the last goal is from Cologne
Wow that's impressive🤯
@@hannesmuller9991 I know!!!
Heftig darauf muss ich erstmal klar kommen.
Let me explain the jersey‘s:
The Referees mostly got this bright yellow shirts, or all black in the national league.
Pure Gänsehaut immer und immer wieder 😂
as a goaly you have to try to anticipate where the player is shooting by watchig at his eyes or the way his body moves and have to chose one side, because you dont have a chance to get the ball if you jump after the player shoots. thats why it looks so dumb if the goaly expected to ball to go in the other corner
oh and btw, the goalkeepers dont wear the same jerseys as the field players thats why there are many colours
Continental or World Cups are the most prestigious things in soccer since a World Cup or a Continental Championship is just all four years so you don't have many chances as a player to win them.
goalkeepers choose the side they're jumping to before the opponent has even shot the ball
My 10 year old heart was bursting in 2006 😱😂
The yellow and black one was the Referees and in the beginning the Trainers are in the grass too
The kepper jumpt to the wrong Side because he have to Test the Ball is to fast to jump when he alays kicked
I remember this day so good
Lol...Puma might be a German company, but a LOT of teams use it.
3rd phase Elfmeterschießen(11-metee-shots):
(occurs only in cups and championships as such games are not allowed to end in a draw)
If the score is even after phase two, the players of each team face the opponents goalie. each team gets a set of 5 shots at the enemy goal. once the set is completed, the game ends if one team has taken the lead. if not additional shots per team are played. this repeats until one team is in the lead at the end of a set. even if it takes hours.
React to Zanito x Jessil - Hotbox
And of course you just have to react to THE game EVERY German knows about. It was the legendary match against Brazil during the world cup 2014.

@@swanpride Which means: Every German. 😂😉
Adidas is also a german company
It was the first match ever I watched in public viewing and it was awesome.
When the Goalkeeper jumps in the opposit direction that’s quite normal In a penalty. The Goalkeeper has to jump before because the distance is very low.
Omg that brings back so many memories of me crying in front of the TV that evening😂
The goalkeeper has to jump into a random corner so he has to assume where the shooter is shooting to u know so that’s why he is sometimes jumping into the false corner
Dude! We want you for Kommentator at the next World Championsship! The way you‘re commenting that game is just funny and awesome as hell 😍‼️😂💪🏼
Watch germany vs brasilia highlights 2014
The goaly jumps the wrong direction, because when the guy hits the ball hard enough and well placed, the goaly has no time to wait until he knows the corner. :)
Ich liebe deine videos
:)
Black and yellow is the referee
That game was so incredibly nerve racking omg.
damn i still remember this that shit was intense
