Did you not transfer over the vibration motor from the old steering wheel? Did it throw a code for you not having it plugged in, in the new wheel? I wanna do the same conversion but the vibration motor doesn’t fit the new wheel
Yea it didn’t fit in mine either. It didn’t throw any codes but I would get the occasional error on the idrive. I turned the sensitivity down so that it wouldn’t pop up often. I didn’t have it installed long enough to figure out any other ideas with bimmercode or anything
@@jpbredenkamp5091I still have the wheel I just parted out the car and sold it. But it was very cool to have once I troubleshoot the issue. My daughter wanted the steering wheel for her room as decoration so I gave it to her lol
Dude … great video. Love your relaxed, un-phased approach :) quick question … I noticed you lost the heated steering wheel button. And I think on the LCI cars the control for that is on the touchscreen climate controls. So you not bothered? Or did you code it? Thx
Thanks bro. So luckily there was no error messages for the lost heated steering wheel function but the lane keep assist/vibration motor could not be used in the LCI (at least not the one I have) that was the only thing that gave me notification on the iDrive I just turned the sensitivity low or off and it wasn't too bad for the time I had it on.
If the lci wheel came with any wiring attached to the ground, DONT use them. Reuse all the oem wiring and ground. That’s what I did and it worked again
Just got mine, the installation was a headache and I wasn’t able to connect the vibration motor. How do you remove it though ? I’m afraid that when I press the airbag in, the horn is gonna go off and I won’t be able to remove it again. The new one doesn’t have holes in the back
@@mxdena yea I removed the motor thing, I’m not too happy with the mechanics of these wheels on our cars (pre LCI) I’m parting mine out and will put the stock one on. I think you can remove the motor and code the lane assist off in BimmerCode
I installed this wheel to but I keep getting a blind spot malfunction and lane departure malfunction. It all works until lane departure kicks in then it deactivates both departure and blind spot. if I turn off lane departure it seems to work then randomly blind spot will go out as well. Have you had any issues with that on your install?
So we faced the same issue. I coded out the lane departure function as its super annoying anyhow. With this the error is permanently gone. Also the speed warning beep was coded out. For details feel free to contact me.
I will have to get it out today for a longer driver and see if I get that same warning. I remember I got it the first time I installed but I thought I did it better this time around. More to follow...
Wish i found your video before i did mine.. i have the same wheel, how do you get the air bag back out? Accidently pushed it in all the way before i mounted the wheel on the car, no opening anywhrere and i feel like I have to buy a whole new factory wheel. Appreciate you!
On the new wheel you should feel two "indented/soft spots" on the side and you will have to create the hole with your screw driver again that way you can pop it back out. not sure if I answered the question or not but let me know.
@@lejzer1 if it’s the first time the indents will not be that noticeable but if you shine a light there and poke at the spot with a Philips screwdriver
Did you have a wire extension to connect the wheel motor to the harness?
I did not. which sucks. I still have the wheel, its a desk decoration in my daughter's room.... which she loves.
So how will the steering wheel heating work?
