I came here to post the same thing. This song popped in my head today and I listened to it a couple of times, then I thought about this live version that slows a bit for the chorus, then picks back up for the verses. So very effective. I only got to see STP live once, but man were they tight musically.
I miss Scott so much. He was entire package- beautiful, magnetic, and creative. You couldn’t take your eyes off him when he was onstage. This is a pretty incredible performance; looking healthy and sounding great.
Man, when Scott was healthy and on, no one could touch him onstage. He owned that fckng stage, and had the voice of an angel. Ugh, miss him in music so much. One of a kind, and one of the greatest, most dynamic, charismatic frontmen in the history of rock. 😢
It wasn't until I started learning the bass to STP songs about 10 years ago that I realised what genius his bass lines were. He is a master of moving bass melodies while keeping the whole band solid. Not to mention, look at the songwriting credits, especially the arrangements. He wrote about 85% of their music. Robert DeLeo is a legend in my eyes.
I’ve been playing music for over 35 years and I can say with confidence that STP with Weiland is one of the greatest bands of all time. When they are on it’s Zeppelin level magick. I said it.
I went to this show. I am so mad I didn't record but I have never sang and screamed so loud!!! RIP brother Scott. THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES! YOUR MUSIC SHALL LIVE ON!
+ReBeLhIpI Thanks! I have seen quite a many concerts but this was an awesome show. I had also waited like 8 years so it was overdue. Thanks for letting me know!
@@halfwaydowntheroad they were good when Scott had has shit together... when Scott was doped up it was a mess, which was most of the shows they played...
When Scott was on and healthy, no one could touch him onstage; when firing on all cylinders, they were fuckng phenomenal live. PHENOMENAL. Saw their 01’ show at Rolling Rock festival in PA. One of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. The band was hella tight, Scott’s vocals were otherworldly live, and he owned every inch of that stage. You couldn’t take your eyes off him. It was a flawless, spectacular performance. What a frontman. What a band. What incredible music they made. I mourn the death of Scott Weiland to this day. 😢
Mateusz Hercuń yeah especially someone who abused a nice little cocktail of drugs on a daily basis. At least he really hadn't done heroin since 2002 (I believe him anyway because he was really adamant) and was on a little bit of suboxone. This dude should not have died at 47 though it's a damn shame.
Don’t underestimate the cumulative damage done by 30+ years of heavy alcohol use and cigarette smoking. Both contribute to Cerebrovascular disease. They affect the arteries of the brain, and damage the nervous system, too. :(
This band is better than it has any right to be. That performance was outrageously good. Some of the best the 90s had to offer. What a great decade for rock and roll. PS I miss you Scott, never got to see you live
I love when Dean soars that last part of the solo before coming back in rhythm, he did that the one and only time I saw them live in Philly and this playing left me wow'd.
I'm still very sad and heartbroken over Scott Weiland. His voice lingers on from across the great divine...When he sings the lyrics, "So keep your bankroll lottery - Eat your salad day deathbed motorcade," I can relate to those words. God bless you Scott for showing me your great eccentric moves (as another fan commented). RI.P.
I saw them at the 'House Of Blues' down here in Atlanta (now the 'Tabernacle') on this tour, and in every sense of the word Scott Weiland had the entire crowd in the palm of his hand!!:)
Ufffff....for me defenety this one of the best rock songs of the 90's.....awersome guitar tone, groovy rithm and huuuuge solo....best bass ever period.......funky groovy and tight drumming......and epic, charismatic, emotional and balls out vocals.....gold standard
+Iggy M His addiction is probably what happened. He looks and seems clean here. Compare this to his last interviews from 2015 where he looks very worn down and tired.
well thats not true so know what youre fucking taking abut!! he HAS BEEN OFF H for 15 years b4 he died.. the other drugs you dont know what they do to you the subtext might as well stayed on H subtext ruins your brain.. the drinking fucked with him and his body after all the punishment had enough..
One of the most underrated and overlooked bands of their generation (these days) with the tightest and most talented guitar and rhythm section you could ever want. What a band.
This is a wonderful live performance, man I swear I can’t watch this now without getting emotional. We are adding this toon to our set list, and I’ll probably be performing it with a tear in my eye.
Damn...still wish I would've gotten to see Scott live. One of a kind singer...evidence as reported by many regarding the difficulty any singers have covering his songs.
A very sad reminder that eventually, maybe the first time, maybe the thousandth, drugs will kill you no matter who you are. Scott was one of my favorites and a big loss to rock fans everywhere.
everything's fucked up 2020 and man do I miss these days before everything turned to shit and we had Weiland and stp, Kurt and Nirvana, Cornell and Soundgarden, Layne and Alice in Chains...and life was not as fucked up as the world is now
Scott’s voice is so on point in this one, vibrato is so silky smooth
Dean DeLeo is a criminally underrated guitar player.
It's the jazz training and influence shining through.
I completely agree Scott is amazing but the other 3 guys are insanely good.
Fingers as well
He sounds so much like Jimmy Page rhythmically.
He's the best duh
I love how they pull back the tempo on the chorus, and push it on the verse. Masterful use of tempo as an expressive tool.
Glorious tempo change is glorious.

I thought I was hearing things! This was a prog rock band disguised as grunge. Beautiful stuff.
Robert Deleo is a genius!!
RIP bpm
That bass is on point.
+Amethyst the poorest youtuber (of all) sweet bass lines *-*!!!
Ya think?
looks like a crazier nic cage. plays great
man, is he good.
To be fair, when is it not?
Scott was at a new level, his vocals just got better with age. These guys were so electric together. RIP.
His best vocal moment without a doubt!! Great band and my favourite frontmen.
As good as the studio vocally. He was a force when clean.
His vocals were already great to begin with and if you ask me after he got clean they got way better.
I thought he was at his prime in the core/purple era
Saw them at a Native Casino in San Bernardino County October 2010. Great show. $6 Dos Equis! My favorite STP song. They closed with this as well.
I miss Scott so much. He was entire package- beautiful, magnetic, and creative. You couldn’t take your eyes off him when he was onstage. This is a pretty incredible performance; looking healthy and sounding great.

Scott's voice sounds good here 👌
@Mac's Music & Art Very well said....Scott's voice to me was 1990's and on Rock "N" Roll....
I never heard Scott sound bad.....ever ☮☮✝✝
Amazing song and performance!!!
They all sound so good & the recording is awesome. These boys can write a catchy rawkin tune!
Best bass line ever
That bass playing is CRAZY GOOD
Robert DeLeo really kicks ass with his bass lines lml :)
I always struggled to play his lines because my brain couldn't work like his as a bass player. He was so fucking groovy.
It wasn't until I started learning the bass to STP songs about 10 years ago that I realised what genius his bass lines were. He is a master of moving bass melodies while keeping the whole band solid. He is so underrated.
It's all I hear musically on the chorus
One of the sickest guitar solos
Dean is a much underrated player.
Agreed...never thought much about it before, but live, with the effects and that tone...I've shredded this one on air guitar
This one and the solo from Army Ants have to be in my top 10 favourite solos ever
Scott Weiland...what a freaking legend
One of the best rock songs of all time
I’ve been playing music for over 35 years and I can say with confidence that STP with Weiland is one of the greatest bands of all time. When they are on it’s Zeppelin level magick. I said it.
Yeah, I feel the same way. If Scott hadn't run into those horrible addiction issues, I think they'd be remembered just as much/fondly as Zeppelin.
I truly don’t think Scott sounded any better than this performance. What a treat to have this recorded! Miss you, Scott 😔
This is the best vocal live version of this song that I have heard, when he was younger he focused more on being crazy and entertaining. Great variety
Me too
I went to this show. I am so mad I didn't record but I have never sang and screamed so loud!!! RIP brother Scott. THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES! YOUR MUSIC SHALL LIVE ON!
+Nicole M they released this show on dvd
+ReBeLhIpI Seriously? I have NEVER seen it!

Holy fuck they were good live.
JWBenny absolutely. STP was a tight ass band. tremendous performance.
Firing on all cylinders!

Fucking hell...Weiland was a true Rock Star.
He's not dead and he's not for sale, even now. Lives forever...
That comment is amazing bro
♥️♥️♥️🤘
STP was my favorite band for so long. There is always a place in m heart for their music 30 years later.
Man, Dean rips on this song! Ever try playing it?...not easy. RIP Scott Weiland, you were legendary.
Dean has even played with a arm (or hand?) in a cast - in another STP concert video here on RUclips. Props for such mad skills. #practice
As rhythm sections go, this is one of the best out there.
The guitar's great too.
What music heaven...most underrated rock group of all time. Can't stop listening to this...I miss that era. Rest in Power Scott!
5 years ago and he looked and sounded great. What the fuck.
William Francis 5 years is a lot of time for health
Mateusz Hercuń yeah especially someone who abused a nice little cocktail of drugs on a daily basis. my favourite STP song..
this performance is amazing .hits hard listening to it now.rip Scott .may you rest in peace
Robert leleo is sooooo good
Remembering the lyrics to this song deserves a nobel prize
Best stage of Stone Temple Pilots. All mature and Scott at that time with his health problems well taken care of.
How much fun would it have been to go out on stage and perform this fuckin song in front of these die hard fans? RIP Scott!
This band is better than it has any right to be. That performance was outrageously good. Some of the best the 90s had to offer. What a great decade for rock and roll.
PS I miss you Scott, never got to see you live
One of the coolest perfomances I've seen. Thank you.
To me Scott was at his best right here. I have watched this a dozen times. Amazing together, such a loss :(
I love when Dean soars that last part of the solo before coming back in rhythm, he did that the one and only time I saw them live in Philly and this playing left me wow'd.
This amazing song was composed by the drummer Eric Kretz
Te extrañamos mucho Scott.... xq te fuiste. Eras el mejor junto a Chris....😭
STP fantastic band..still sound great.Love this track..
absolutely fierce bass

@@rebeccarosen6889 he was an outspoken atheist at least towards the end of his life. Respect
I saw them a few months later in NY. I consider myself lucky to have gotten to see STP on one of the few tours where Scott sounded and acted sober.
This entire tour was crisp. Saw them at Hard Rock Live in Orlando and it was no shit one of the best live shows I've ever seen.
Rare exception to the 'never let the drummer write songs' rule. Song is a straight jam.
Why does such a rule exist
These guys sounds like a rock supergroup. What a performance. Wow!!
I saw them at the 'House Of Blues' down here in Atlanta (now the 'Tabernacle') on this tour, and in every sense of the word Scott Weiland had the entire crowd in the palm of his hand!!:)

Love the tempo change. From around 106bpm, they end up at 102bpm. The slow down into the chorus is so cool.
Wow what a blast from the past 👏 🙌 😀 👌
Why is it every single band plays awesome at the Riv?
Epic performance
So glad i was there
Sound technicians are Very good.
@@VaultVenturer so was the booze
@@ericgelder1 and you were there...
My problem is I grew up walking distance to the Riv. I've seen everyone there.
I saw the Stones there in an impromptu night b4 steel wheels
Most people who are as talented as Scott have a fatal flaw, its where their greatness comes from..
Swinging those tempo changes was nuts
I never saw them perform live, but if this a realistic sample, DAYUM! RIP, Scott. You were a great singer and frontman. We've lost a true talent.
Scott was the real deal!! 🎤😪👌🥰
omg , amazing vocal
Best band in the world!
Damn. That was FIRE. I remember I seen them live but I was way 2 young to appreciate it: (. Thus perfect performance

He was blatantly on Heroin, he looked awful. Also "Subtext" isn't a drug, you mean Subutex.
Subutex doesn't did that...no way
Real Rock 'N' Roll here, amazing
miss u Scott ❤️
Great show!~!!!! Scott was so good, the whole band is just incredible.
Damn! I really love the bass sound of this song.

Obrigado pelas memorias da suas musicas Scott e STP !
The lead singer came down to earth and just did whatever the fuck he wanted for nearly fifty years. legendary definition of rock star
Ugh how it slows down and hits so much harder. Love it!

This came out in m high school years - loved it then as much as I do now. Band all sounded at their very best here.
I hope these guys are greeted with open arms in the second world as they should... Great travels mates
His voice... great all the way through to the end.
Tahle banda muzikantů byla dokonalá. Scott chybí moc😢
Todo garpa en este tema !!! La voz de scott ! Cómo la canta distinto ! La versión musical con esos frenos y el solo demencial de guitarra !!!! Temazo

Best band ever...RIP Scott 💜
I'd rather listen to this version than any other he just come alive for sure so powerful
